Chelsea have today denied reports that a second death threat had been sent to Avram Grant.

Last month a white powder, which turned out to be harmless, together with a written death threat and anti-semitic abuse was sent to the Chelsea manager at the club's training ground in Cobham, Surrey.

Chelsea quickly dismissed reports of a second threat in a statement posted on their website. "Reports in the media this morning regarding a threat sent to our training ground against Avram Grant are totally incorrect," a statement said.

Chelsea are in contention for the Premier League title and the Champions League, but Grant's appointment as manager was not popular with many Chelsea fans who felt the club were wrong to sack Jose Mourinho.

Grant, a good friend of Roman Abramovich, the Chelsea owner, replaced Mourinho despite only ever having worked as a coach in Israel.
