Win tickets to the ATP finals
Cesc Fabregas says Arsenal are determined to right the wrongs of this season, by ensuring they win a trophy next season.
The Spanish midfielder, who voted the PFA's Young Player of the Year last night, says that while playing good football is satisfying, all that really matters is winning trophies.
"To win a personal award reflects the season we have had as a team," he said. "Everyone said that it is disappointing not to win anything but we have made a big step forward in experience, physically and mentally. One of us deserved to win something because we played some very good football.
"What matters at the end of the day is a trophy. We didn't win one this season but we will be up for it next season. I think we will win something, of course."
The 21-year-old has been tipped as a future Arsenal captain, and although William Gallas' leadership has come under increased scrutiny since his public display of petulance following the 2-2 draw with Birmingham City, Fabregas believes his colleague has done well.
He said: "I don't know. This is not in my hands, it is the boss that decides that. You have to respect William for what he has done in football and what he is doing now, for me he is doing a good job. For me, the most important thing is giving everything on the pitch - that is what really matters to me."
Fabregas also paid tribute to Arsene Wenger, his manager, and the influence he has had on his career.
"I've always said that I'm grateful for what he did for me and what he is still doing for me and this club," he added. "He has great scouts around the world watching and he is intuitive about his players. He has the smell for who will become a very good player and a good person."
