Dead certs
Marvin Emnes has become Middlesbrough's first signing of the summer after he joined the club for £3.2million from Sparta Rotterdam. The 20-year-old winger scored eight goals in his final ten matches of last season.
Hólmar Örn Eyjólfsson, the 17-year-old defender, has signed for West Ham United from HK Kopavogur of Iceland.
West Bromwich Albion have secured Graham Dorrans, the Scotland Under-21 midfield player, from Livingston for £100,000.
Decent bets
Newcastle United are monitoring Per Ciljan Skjelbred, the midfield player who had a trial at Liverpool after he won a television football talent competition in Norway six years ago. The 21-year-old Rosenborg player turned down a youth contract at Anfield and has since been watched by Tottenham Hotspur.
Liverpool are interested in Diego Cavalieri, the Palmeiras goalkeeper, whose arrival could signal the departures of Scott Carson and Charles Itandje, who is close to a move to Galatasaray. Everton and Middlesbrough have been linked with Achille Emana, the Toulouse midfield player.
Hull City have said that they will be making an offer for Seyi Olofinjana, the Wolverhampton Wanderers midfield player. Hull have given a trial to Delron Buckley, the Borussia Dortmund and South Africa midfield player.
Ferrie Bodde's transfer from Swansea City has been held up because of a disagreement over a sell-on clause with Den Haag. Bodde's move to Derby County fell through after a £2million fee was agreed. Middlesbrough and West Bromwich Albion have expressed an interest.
Kaspars Gorkss, the Blackpool and Latvia defender, is expected to complete a move to Queens Park Rangers after agreeing personal terms.
Long shots
Ivan Klasnic's agent has said that the Werder Bremen and Croatia forward is expected to join Wigan Athletic.
