19.23pm: Yellow card for Wayne Rooney, and this is bad news for United, as he'll miss the game against newly rejuvenated Spurs.

19.22pm: GOAL! Finally, finally, United have scored, in the 90th minute. Carrick's deflection from the woodwork is safely put away by Vidic. It's Manchester United 1 Sunderland 0.

19.20pm: Unbelievable! Not only have an increasingly desperate United still failed to score, but Kenwyne Jones has raced to the other end of the pitch and won a corner.

19.14pm: It's as though there's an invisible forcefield in front of the Sunderland goal. Rooney, Giggs, Tevez and Anderson all get a touch of the ball, but once again the moment passes.

19.12pm: An opportunistic header from Vidic is another good chance squandered, Fulop falling on the ball in the goalmouth.

19.05pm: Berbatov has United's best chance of the game so far, following a cross from the tireless Carrick, but it narrowly sails over the crossbar.

18.50pm: Ryan Giggs is on for Ronaldo, and Anderson is on for Park.

18.57pm: Ronaldo leaves the pitch, grimacing, leaving United a player short. All Fergie can do, camped in the stand because of his touchline ban, is get on the phone to the dugout, to work out who's going to replace him. On the field, it's all still United, but Sunderland are determined to thwart them.

18.50pm: Tevez is on, replacing Park. Surely United must score now, with Tevez, Berbatov and Rooney all camped in front of Sunderland's goal. Dwight Yorke leaves the field and the old warhorse gets a rousing cheer from both sets of fans.

18.46pm: Chimbonda's gone down under an assertive tackle by Evra, but Sunderland's resulting free kick is cleared effortlessly by Van der Sar in what I make his second touch of the game.
