Manchester United v Chelsea, 4pm

Rio Ferdinand returns for Manchester United at Old Trafford. The England defender has missed four games with a back injury but returned to training this week.

Apart from Wes Brown and long-term casualty Owen Hargreaves United have a full-strength squad available as Patrice Evra is back after a four-match ban.

Chelsea welcome back John Terry and Michael Ballack. Terry has served a three-match suspension after being red-carded against Everton, while Ballack is also available after a one-match ban ruled him out of the FA Cup third round tie against Southend.

Florent Malouda is out with a hamstring injury but Petr Cech, rested in midweek, should return.

Steve Bruce has a fully-fit squad to choose from. Chris Kirkland missed the previous two matches with a groin injury but has recovered while Emile Heskey, Amr Zaki and Mario Melchiot have all trained this week.

Ryan Taylor (hamstring) and Paul Scharner (Achilles) should feature and Lee Cattermole returns from suspension.

Jermain Defoe goes straight into the Tottenham squad after completing his move from Portsmouth.

Darren Bent (groin), Tom Huddlestone (ankle) and David Bentley (illness) have been training, Jermaine Jenas is back from suspension but Benoit Assou-Ekotto is still banned, joining Alan Hutton (knee) on the sidelines. Ledley King (knee) has been rested this week and is in the frame to play.
