Full-time Stoke City 0-0 Liverpool
That late effort from the Liverpool captain almost stole three points for the league leaders. But it remains goalless and so Liverpool are only four points ahead of Chelsea, who can close the gap to one if they beat Mancehster United tomorrow at Old Trafford. The point moves Stoke out of the relegation zone above Tottenham into seventeenth place. It was not a cracking game. Liverpool, lacking Alonso's craft, struggled to create, with Gerrard subdued and this match might show how much they are reliant upon Torres, Alonso and Gerrard to give them the edge. It is the secodn successive stalemate between the two sides this season.
90mins+2 That was only Torres's eighth touch in the half hour he has been on the pitch. It may give Liverpool hope to go for a winner more.
90mins+1 There will be three minutes of stoppage time. Suddenly, Liverpool come to life. A long ball is flicked on by Torres to Gerrard who stretches to touch the ball on to the outside of the far post.
90mins Liverpool get a late corner. Can they steal a winner? The ball goes all the way through for a goal kick.
89mins Danny Pugh is coming on for Dave Kitson, who is still without a goal.
88mins Lucas concedes a needless free kick, nudging a player. It gives Stoke the chance to put the ball into the area but Liverpool clear.
85mins Amdy Faye takes up a few seconds handing the ball to Delap for a throw-in. Stoke might be content with a draw.
84mins Gerrard sends the ball in and it flies off the bar.
83mins Babel outpaces Wilkinson down the left and is brought down leading to a booking for the Stoke right back.
82mins Lucas sends an aimless ball down the right but is cleared back to him and he has a second chance, but this time it is straight through to Sorensen.
80mins Delap has gone to the left and Lawrence to the right. Delap does well to get a cross in but Reina comes to claim it well.
