Thomas Sorensen, Aston Villa’s out-of-favour goalkeeper, wants to quit the club after giving up all hope of being offered a new contract.
The Danish international was Villa’s first choice for the previous three seasons but has struggled to even get on the substitute's bench during the current campaign.
Scott Carson, the on-loan Liverpool goalkeeper has been first choice with Stuart Taylor his deputy for the majority of matches and with Sorensen out of contract next summer the former Sunderland player is resigned to a future away from Villa Park.
“I am simply not interested any more,” he said. “Villa have shown that they have no interest whatsoever to invest in me.
“Even if Martin O’Neill personally offered me a new contract tomorrow I wouldn’t sign it. Martin O’Neill decided to recruit a new goalkeeper when I was injured. He then told me during a meeting that I shouldn’t take my spot for granted.
“I said some things and the press exaggerated what had been said and that upset him. But I can’t believe that would be a reason to punish me this way.”
Sorensen added: “At this point I am open to all suggestions. If somebody shows me a contract, I will sign it, no matter what the offer is.
“But at the same time I don’t want to play temporarily for some Japanese club either.”
Sorensen could sign a pre-contract with a foreign club in January if he is allowed to leave by O’Neill.
