Carson Yeung has assured Birmingham City's co-owner David Sullivan he is confident of taking full control of the club by October.

Sullivan had voiced concerns at the apparent slow progress being made in buying City by Hong Kong businessman Yeung who paid £15 million for an initial 29.9% stake last month.

But his representative Sammy Yu is adamant that Yeung could be the owner of the Blues within two months, and bring to an end the 14-year reign of Sullivan and chairman David Gold.

Yu said: "I appreciate that Mr Sullivan wants to ensure the stability of the club as soon as possible. We have no bad feelings about what was said in the week. But sooner or later it will happen. At the moment we are making sure we satisfy the regulations that all listed companies in Hong Kong have to abide by.

"We are definitely coming to Birmingham though and, from Hong Kong, we are monitoring all that is going on at the club. It won't take long and Mr Yeung stands by what he said in Birmingham last week. He feels that he could take control in a month or two so by October he could be the owner.

"A lot of things we need to do with the stock exchange in Hong Kong have been done already. We understand the concerns of the club and the supporters but we do not see there being any problems. It's just that we are not based in the United Kingdom and there are many small details that need to be completed which just take time."

Yeung intends to fly back to England to watch the weekend clash with Middlesbrough although he will not be present at Tuesday's Carling Cup clash with League Two side Hereford at St. Andrews, when manager Steve Bruce, mindful of the fact that many of his international players completed a spell of five matches 13 days at Derby on Saturday, may rest some of them.

He said: "I've always said that I wanted to help this club win a major trophy, something it has not done in its history. Let's face it, we all know who the top four or five are going to be in the Premier League by the end of the season so the Carling Cup and FA Cup represent the best chance of some silverware for a lot of us.

"Of course, it's nice to get the first league win under our belts and we are mindful of the importance of staying in the division. But we will always treat the cup competitions with the utmost respect and it will be the same against Hereford on Tuesday."

The likes of fit-again Mat Sadler, Neil Danns, Olivier Tebily and Rowan Vine could come into the equation.

Bruce insisted he was not being unsettled by the proposed takeover by Yeung and it was a case of business as usual.

He said: "It is business as usual for me and, if and when the new guy comes in, then we have to sit down and see which way he wants the club to go forward and how he is going to structure the club. I hear it could all happen by the end of September or October. I'll carry on as normal."
