Paul Ince, the Blackburn Rovers manager, believes the experience he and a number of other young Premier League managers are gaining can only benefit England in the long run.
Ince, Gareth Southgate, Tony Adams, Roy Keane and Steve Bruce are among a number of young English managers who Ince believes could go on to manage the England team in the coming years.
"We hope so, but there is a long way to go," Ince said. "Before there were a lot of - no disrespect - old-school managers going around the merry-go-round. Eventually that has to change and it is nice chairmen and clubs are taking a chance, although I don't know if chance is the right word.
"The only way you are going to get experience is by being in the Premier League. I have done it the right way, going through League Two and League One.
"Southy (Southgate) and Tony Adams haven't done it that way but the fact they are here can only be good for English football, can only be good for the next time England need a new manager.
"Hopefully we don't have to go overseas for another foreign manager, even though (Fabio) Capello has done ever so well."
Ince is already feeling the pressure at Ewood Park with last Sunday's defeat by Tottenham Hotspur leaving In the past English managers have seen their fledgling managerial careers cut short by the desire for instant results but Ince insists clubs have to allow more time for changes to take effect.
The former England midfielder is well qualified to talk about the pressure, with Rovers second bottom of the table, however Ince has called for calm.
"You want a chance in the Premier League and we have got a chance. But what we don't want is people panicking," he said. "We are all learning: I'm learning, Tony Adams is learning, Southy is learning and Keano is learning - we need time to bed in.
"Southy struggled last season and fans were saying get rid of him but Steve Gibson (Middlesbrough chairman) stood by him and my chairman will do the same.
"Even though we don't want to be in the bottom three it is a long process. I was at Manchester United, where Sir Alex Ferguson was 25 minutes away from getting the sack until Mark Robins got the winner against Nottingham Forest and he went on to win the FA Cup and Sir Alex became the best manager of all time.
"So there are no panic stations at the moment. You have to give people time."
