Shocked football supporters from around the world are waking up to the news that Jose Mourinho has left Chelsea with immediate effect.
Do you believe this is this by mutual consent, as claimed by the club in its brief official statement? Did Roman Abramovich, the billionaire owner, heap too much pressure on Mourinho by stating that he needed to win the Champions League twice in the next six years? Did Mourinho's functional style of football lead to his downfall? And who do you want to see take the reins at Stamford Bridge? Could Jurgen Klinsmann deliver the most prestigious trophy in Europe? Or is Guus Hiddink, currently in charge of Russia, the man for the job?
Whatever your thoughts, post them here. Below is some of the reaction we have already received.
Thank God he is finally gone; it is the best for Chelsea and for English football. He is a childish winner, a poor loser and an arrogant manager. What goes around comes around mate! Miquel, Barcelona, Spain

Huge loss for Chelsea! Mourinho created a team from zero (FC Porto) and made them Uefa cup and Champions League winners. FC Porto, when he arrived, was losing games after games and had no team formed. After this he made what no manager could do in the last 50 years, win the Premiership for Chelsea, twice. Mario Albuquerque, Oporto, Portugal
I am so so very disappointed. Mourinho was probably Chelsea's best hope of taking Europe. RIP Chelsea FC. Zachary Malik, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
Thats good news. Hopefully the next manager will play some attractive football. Normann, Aarhus, Denmark
Far too many cooks at Chelsea destroyed any hope Mourinho had of properly managing Chelsea. It's the same problem at Tottenham. While the managers at Arsenal, Manchester United and City all enjoy the level of control required to mould a successful team. Unfortunately for Chelsea it seems that the guys who recruited the worst signing in the Premiership for many years - Shevchenko - will be rewarded with running the club. No sensible coach will want to destroy his career by working with the likes of Grant and Arnesen, Chelsea will only get someone who goes for the money. Mourinho has passion and vision that will be better served at another club. Frank, London
Mourinho was a genius. He did more for Chelsea than all the players Abramovich could buy. He was only hampered by constant interference and a distinct lack of respect. He will be sorely missed. I'll be interested to see what transpires in the rest of the season. Sophie Gilbert, New York, NY
All right, time to move on. Someone please call Mark Hughes and ask him to join. That's the most sensible change and good for English football. Sam, New York City, NY
This is an unusual decision. Whilst I am a Man Utd supporter and am pleased Mourinho has left, I would prefer him to be there because he brings out the best in Chelsea. That way when United win the league, it feels better. James Moore, Sutton
I'm an Arsenal fan but this is a real shame for football. Marvin, London, UK
Absolutely shocking. Im a Villa fan and this is quite unbelievable. I said to a Chelsea fan that Roman has built Chelsea as a title winning team but he will also destroy them. He wants instant success in every competition and he's just not going to get this. I can see another Leeds situation on the cards soon as Roman leaves. And I won't be surprised if this happens in the near future. Jose was a great manager and was great to have in the Premier League, I can't see him managing again in England. Sad loss. Stuart, Birmingham
Wow, that came earlier than i thought. But hey! All the best to you "special one" . We'll see how special you are without all that talent! Bill Peacock, Winnipeg, Canada
I can't say that I particularly cared for Jose but I did like his rather audacious style; he was good for the Premier League - football needs characters - he did have style - like Jose M. P Sharma, Oxford, UK
I cannot beleive he's gone, what is this going to do to Chelsea's team spirit that Mourinho has worked so hard to create? A.P., Manchester, UK
Holy cow. The most successful manager in your history, still the odds-on favorite for the title, more silverware than Chelsea has seen in years...and this? As a Man U fan, the rise of Chelsea was one more aggravation, another formidable opponent. Thank goodness Abramovich has decided to channel George Steinbrenner of the Yankees and mess it all up! John, Tacoma, WA, USA
Is this the day football has died? Or maybe its resurrection is to begin. A lesson to the money men, for certain. Perhaps Jose could go across the Thames to White Hart Lane, where I am sure he will have the full control of Spurs, and would be welcomed with open arms if the Jol situation resolves itself. Jonny Brick, Edinburgh (but a Londoner)
Abramovich is not stupid, he gave the man funds and Jose abused it, failed to recognise that he required cover in certain fields and then wanted to spend more and more. Look at the way Arsene Wenger plays the transfer window. You are not so great Jose.Mehmet, Bexleyheath, Kent
Good riddance. Great manager but arrogant and egotistical, berating Shevchenko for celebrating his goal against Rosenborg underlined his lack of class, something money can't buy at Chelsea. Shad, London, England

Many support Chelsea because of Mourinho... and i am sure mourinho's departure has a great impact on chelsea's fans...including me...!! NO MORE CHELSEA AND NO MORE CHELSEA FOR ME!!!
Almanzo, Dili, East Timor
I think Mourinho is a briliant manager that ever exists in this planet... His decision to leave chelsea is a big loss for chelsea and a big mistake ever made for chelsea.....!!
Almanzo, Dili, East Timor
Mourinho should be happy to be gone from Chelsea. If Chelsea won it was because of Abromovich's millions if he lost it was his fault. Furthermore he no longer swayed influence in the purchase of players for his team. Chelski tied his hands and feet then wondered why he couldn't swim. Jose go to Tottenham and have your revenge!
Leif, New York, New York, USA
Mourinho will be greatly missed and English football becomes less attractive as a product as a result of this firing. Mourinho had a unique vision for how games would be won. Though maybe not as attractive, it was still beautiful in its force and simplicity. I believe we will soon witness the Chelsea of the old days. Sad, because it was fun with four clubs at the top and not just three. Mourinho was greater than the team... now I only hope the players and the new coach understand this. I hope we will soon see him again somewhere else... the especially colorful one!
Jojo, Oslo, Norway
Oh dear what a shame. His arrogance and the sense of injustice that he presented will stay with me for...at least five minutes...
Jim, Liverpool,
I thought this was some joke. Mourinho has what it takes to be a good manager. Recent results were not only his fault. I don't blame him for leaving. I would do the same if my boss tried to do my job. Buying Sheva while refusing to buying other players is example. Mourinho always said he didn't like stars, me choses to make them himself. Sorry to see you leave. A loss of UK football. He made many games.
Bernard, London,
Jose like him or loathe him was a character. He managed to get his team and sometimes the opposition team FIRED UP.
H e is very passionate about the beautiful game.
He managed to bring the best out of his team, one way or the other.
Looks like there is a straight swop on the cards, Jose to Spurs and Martin Jol to Stamford Bridge,,,,,,,,,,,,,It was time for a shake up.
peter, Southaven ,Mississippi, USA
Bye bye Jose close the door on your way out, no one is irreplaceable certainly not a big head like you, get over yourselves Chelski fans no one is bigger than a club, you might become good to watch now
Andrew O'Brien, Liverpool, UK
How many pretenders to the throne will Sir Alex see off before people realise soundbites grab headlines but figures speak for themselves.

Without Jose, probably premium league will be much less successful as it has been in the last 3 years. Without this "special one" who is arrogant, it will be bored to death watching only MU fighting Arsenal for the titleship. It is a shame for Chelsea to lose this special one. I bet Chelsea will never achieve what they did in the last 3 years, whether on titleship or admiration or jeolousy, in many years to come.
By the way, I am an Arsenal fan.
Phun, KL, Malaysia
The only thing I like about Jose is his ability to make headlines. He was a good manager when he came winning 2 premiership titles in arow including the 2 carling cup(kids cup) but the team has to move on from winning to winning with style and flair which the owner felt Jose won't provide. Roman brought him into chelsea football club. The fans were singing Roman's name now that he's done the unthinkable we all loathe him. Well sad for English gam it will be a 2 or 3 horse race if Rafa decides to rotate or remain stagnant.
Temi, London,
MODERN MANAGER WITH GREAT BRAIN , would have stayed if not for Roman despite his millions for chelsea
worried for the passion of the team instilled by JOSE. no words left to speak
david rajesh, Kuantan, Malaysia
Mehmet, do you read the news? Jose didn't really have a choice in regards to who he bought, Shev and Ballack were bought to Chelsea because the ridiculous russian decided he wanted them. How on earth a manager is meant to manage a team that he doesn't have control over is beyond me. As a chelsea fan I'm gutted that Jose has gone, who knows what will happen to us now! However I really hope he moves on to bigger and better things and continues to prove what most of us fans already know, that he really is the special one.
Emmy, Dubai, UAE
The problem with Chelsea's owner,is the same one that Hearts owner has too. They buy a club, pump in their trillions of pounds/dollars ...whatever..and expect to be able to dictate what goes on with the team...ie "I want Schevchenko..you must play Schevchenko".If these owners have any talent it is in the area of grasping and greediness..it doesn't make them skilled in anything else..or particularly intelligent. These chairmen should keep their noses out of football affairs,as they clearly know little. The appointment of Jose Mouriniho was a good one, which could have brought even bigger and continued success for Chelsea,as the manager,he should have been left to manage,to buy and train the players as he and his assistants saw fit.Abromavich wanted an automatic return on his cash, quickly and with guaranteed interest.Football doesn't provide that guarantee(though there is no doubt that big money increases the chance of success) ,a fact that anyone with an interest in football knows.
Rob, Plymouth, UK
If the Chelsea players were really worth anything, they would all just refuse to play under the new manager... or anyone else for that matter, save for the Special One.
Elias, Stevenage, UK
Unbelievable...Absolutely devestating! The most charasmatic managers of all time, football can now be offically declared a boring game. I feel like leaving Chelsea as a fan. I cant get over how the club could make that man "come to mutual consent". I would love to see him in an interview now to see what he says about the club. But at the end of the day, another premiership lost, champions league lost, fa cup lost. I hate you Roman!
Sean Baker, Dublin, Ireland
Chelsea Fan. At the beginning of the season Jose was on about not being so controversial any more. That was the sign. He had to make too many changes to his own character & style. It just wasn't him.
Good luck Jose. You brought so much to England, look at the quality of the entire league this season. I'll wager that the club you go to next will enjoy success. You are class through and through. Chelsea success is because of you, not the money. You cannot buy the spirit of belief.
Good luck to the next manager. He has a tough time ahead. Steady the ship, inspire belief, play attractive, win champions league, win league, without any control.
If Rom wants attractive, he will need someone who has it already. Lets hope it's enough.
Andre Hen, Durban, South Africa
I still remember Chelsea beating my favorite London team in the days of Mr Ranieri in the Champions League nevertheless a different culture arrived when Mr Mourinho's took charge - Success and a winner''s attitude. I was never a fan of his antics nevertheless he gave the team the belief that they were special. Mr Abramovich might know about oil and politics but football and building a team is certainly not his forte.
Tolu, Lagos,
Another 50 years to win a League, is all what you will have...and you can say "thanks Abram".
Mourinho for ever
rui, porto, portugal
Looks like chelsea have traded in an Aston Martin for a Ford Fiesta.
The problem Ambrovich has is that Jose is seen as the most important person at chelsea which after putting in his fortune he clearly can't stand. He wants someone with a lower profile so that some of the plaudits come his way which they don't now.
Roman might have the money but he clearly doesn't have much common sense.
Geoff, London,
Let God help Chelsea as they are in the middle of confusion as their coach has left.
Robert Nyakundi, Nairobi, Kenya.
Well,am a Liverpool fan but i must say that,i can't believe Roman thinks all good stuff come in one day.We gonna miss you Jose and wherever you are just know it that you're agood manager.
Harrison, Kampala, Uganda
The saying goes that 'Rome was not built in one day' and in most cases this statement applies. One exception is that of Chelsea FC, once an underachieving entity under Ranieri, it has risen from the nadir of negative equity and impending bankruptcy to the zenith of 6 domestic trophies, across competitions, in the space of 3 years.
These times of success have been largely due to the seemingly bottomless coffers of their Russian patron but the greatest contribution has been that of their architect, whose motivation and, at times abbrasive, determination to triumph transformed and bonded a team of mercenaries into united âband of brothersâ.
Augustus is reputed to have said that he 'found Rome in clay and left it for the People in marble'. The first crack in the Chelsea stone fortress is now set and how long before the empire falls and looters raid its treasures is anyoneâs guess.
Jim Egan, London, England
No suprise. Typical EgoClash of an owner who uses Chelsea as an entrance into the football-glanour and an almighty coach who works for his etenral glory.
The product emerging from that was one functioning Premiership-Winning-Machine but yet entirely lacking any playmakiong creativity whatsoever. This along with Mourinho's lack of respect for his opponents cemented a negative image of such quality even Manchester United will never manage to achieve.
Chelsea wil remain a big club, however, maybe adopting some style if they manage to attract a decent manager. Whether he will survive in the superficial champagne-world Chelsea has now become remains to be seen...
Ilja, Sliema, Malta
It's sad to see Mourinho leave, he was a good tactical manager. He brought style and humour to the premiership by his sense of humour and ability to get the multi million squad playing as a team. We shall miss him, it's a shame. I wish Jose all the best. The premiership won't be the same, most football fans enjoyed the rival comments (especially Liverpool fans) and tension he created whilst he was chelsea's manager.
Honest opinion from an Arsenal fan
Carol Sydney, Manchester,
People who say Jose is not Special - don't know a thing about football. And this is the worst thing to have happened. The dream is over. I dont think the likes of Terry or Lampard will stay any longer. I bet Roman is going to spend a lot of money now to hide his mistake. He will ensure they get very big players so people forget about Jose. But that will still not make the Blues win anything. I have been a Blues fan all my life!
Mr. Abromomovich, go away! And take Peter Kenyon and the others with you!
Priyojeet MAzumder, New Delhi, India
As a Liverpool fan I am gutted Jose has gone. There was nothing more satisfying than seeing his face if we beat them. Of course this worked both ways and there was nothing worse than seeing his face if they beat us, but you want to win when they are at full strength, including their manager!
I think this is a real blow to Chelsea & they'll do well to maintain their current status as a top 2, or maybe even as a top 4 team. Are there players at the club who'll also want to leave now and will he try and take some to his next club? Also will other top players be so attracted to Chelsea now? One player who may benefit though is Shevchenko, but hopefully not!!!
It looked fromm the start of the Abramovich era that this was all doomed to fail for Chelsea, but after their 1st prem league title we all thought well maybe not. But now time will tell. I don't like it when these sort of characters leave the PL (same with Thierry Henry) as it detracts from our claim to having the best league!!!
Ben, Plymouth, UK
Ranieri laid the foundations which Jose inherited and then rode his luck.
Rather like Chancellor Brown inheriting from Kenneth Clarke!
JJ, London,
I am not a fan of Chelsea, or Mourinho. However, i completely agreed with his argument at the beginning of the season that a 'director of football' was completely unnecessary. Mourinho was and is a manager, So why create a role at Chelsea which userps his power and undermines him?
I feel that Grant is definitely the source of Mourinho's demise. I would imagine that a situation like that would make someone even of Mourinhos egotistical, arrogant dispostion insecure about the ability to do their job. Therefore, i dont blame him for leaving which i personally believe is what happened.
Max , Truro, England
You will be missed Jose.Keep your chin up.Good luck .
gops, Cambridge, UK
It is a sad, sad day for all Chelsea fans (including me), as well as football fans in particular. Jose was arrogant, controversial, charming, amusing, but above all of these words - successful. He moulded Chelsea into a great team with a great team spirit and belief, plus a winning mentality. He will be sorely missed and I think that whoever takes over will have a real job of keeping the core of the team together and restoring the morale. Abramovich will soon realise that as owner he's made a really big mistake in 'sacking' Mourinho and probably employing Grant in his place. I now expect there to be a mass exodus of players, especially during the next transfer window, and it wouldn't surprise anyone to see them (maybe apart from Terry) follow Mourinho to whichever 'big' club he is by then managing. However, the season, although in its infancy is over as far as Chelsea and its fans are concerned. Thank you Jose and good luck!
Malcolm Hopkins, Leatherhead, United Kingdom
While I never like Chealsea style under Mourinho, leaving now in the season is bad not only for Chealsea but the league as a whole. With Arsenal and Liverpool off to great starts was looking to be a great season, with the big 4 decking it out. Now with a new manager coming in, it will be highly unlikely that they can provided a decent changllenge to the title.
Mike, Durban, South Africa
It is time for jose to move on.Either he has been sacked or left chelsea on personal reason.
I think jose is going yo coach portugal national team and he would definitly come back to chelsea after couple of years again. At the moment no other manager will turn this around.team will go down an even risk to lose a champion leagues place for next year,
sharok , gothenburg, SWEDEN
I am a Man Utd fan but saddened with the way things have turned out for the 'special one'. Jose brought a new flavour to the Premiership in recent years be it in the strength of the team's performances or the media quips, he was an entertainer. I hope the Chelski revolution doesn't become like the farce Real Madrid endured with Del Bosque's departure..
Sumeet Pai, Bangalore, India
I would suggest that he was pushed in the sense that his job was made untenable. I don't believe his pride would allow him to watch Chelsea's owner decide who came in to the squad and how the team should be playing.
I shall be very surprised if Chelsea sustain momentum after this. I believe the players were motivated by Mourinho and felt themselves to be 'his' elite. I have no doubt that Abramovich will move to assuage tensions among the players if he can, but this looks like a suicidal move to me.
Brian Fargher, Birmingham, United Kingdom
I laugh when people talk about Arsenal and Wenger... I question: how much has Arsenal won since Mourinho was at Chelsea? How much? How much as Chelsea won? Ohhhhh you're going to talk about money... well... Mourinho with Porto (far less money than Arsenal) won two European cups! How many has Wenger won?
Please, Mourinho is a winner. If you want to be entertained go to the movies or something. I bet Mourinho could do the same as Wenger, no one is pressuring him to win anything! He hasn't won jack for some years now, no one questions him. Mourinho won 5 or 6 titles in 3 seasons and everyone questioned him. That's the difference!
John, Liverpool,
jose mourinho was a very good chelsea manager, maybe a lot better than the other 18 out of 20 premiership managers. the record shows what he did. it will be a big hyprocrizy if you've been given a truck load of money and vauxhull corsa rather than a ferrari! thus real madrid buys cheaper players? but have they had the same success as chelsea had in the last 3-4 years? buying expensive players is one thing, giving manchester united and arsenal a tough time in the last 4 years is something else. those 2 teams has been dominating the league until mourinho came. so is he the best chelsea manager? look at the records! you'll get the answer!
alvin, birmingham, uk
i woke up to a text from a man u mate with the news? i thought it was an april fools day joke? is it? no its september why sack a manager this early in the season and just before one of the bigger games of the year??
paul t, London,
As much as you love to hate Mourinho, to deny his egotistical arrogant ways would also be to deny the reason he wins things. The situation at Chelsea clearly became untennablt for him or for Abramovich - it doesn't really matter which - and there was only going to be one winner. You do have to respect him as he stuck by his principals despite wery public criticism of how his team was playing and the players he was playing. The thing i would be most worry about if i was a Chelsea fan would be how the players will react to Grant as manager - the players idolised Mourinho and he was publicly very against the appointment of Grant, can anyone see them beating a resurgent Man Utd this sunday?
Eamon, Baldock, Hertfordshire
it's such a shame losin a man lyuk Jose bt u jus have 2 take it da way it is.Noone is above Jose as u all know that.
Curtis, London, UK
As a life-long Chelsea supporter who never expected to live to see the club win a Premiership, what should have been the ultimate experience was tainted by the mind-numbingly dull football played and the ever-present ego of the manager. For all that, he was the right man for the job for a season or two. Now he's gone and I'm looking forward to Roman blowing the cobwebs off the cheque-book in January...
Peter, Wellington, NZ
It is a great loss for Chelsea and football lovers. I used to watch the spannish league more than English till the time Jose Mourinho came to Chelsea, from than it was only English league. I think Jose Mourinho created that spark of interest and competition, which will be missing from today. There are a lot more people especially in Asia who think like me. English league is not going to be the most interesting anymore.
Sunil, Bangalore, India
I'm an Arsenal fan and think it is the premier league's loss not juts Chelsea's. He may have had faults but he was always entertaining.
Shame you had to go Jose. Just don't go to Spurs.
Neil Denns, London, UK
What does everyone think to Mourinho for England? I think its an opportunity not to be missed for us.
M, DERBY,
He was truly "The special one", and I'm a Liverpool fan. Sadly the rank and file at Chelsea have not learn t from the other teams that are more successful. Welcome back to the old CFC... Good luck "Special one." Kue, Byo, Zimbabwe
Hamilton K. Pasipamire, Bulawayo, Zimbabwe
I envisage the down fall of Chelsea in the nearest future. Mourinho was a great manager no doubt, but his style of play does not match modern football NEITHER does he entertain the faithfuls. I wish he's in charge of the team that will play Man U on sunday.
We will miss him greatly in the premiership. Any way, long live MAN UNITED.
King Henry, Port-Harcourt, Nigeria
I wonder if Bernie Ecclestone will be on the phone to him and tempt him to QPR?
Ron, London,
When two big egos have to live and work under a single roof, in our case the roof of the Stamford Bridge football ground, tension and occasional collisions are inevitable, even part of routine. When one of these egos is boss and the other is his subordinate, the picture is even more predictable. Maybe Jose was too pretentious and arrogant for Roman Abramovich to bear. I will not try to choose between the two options: even if Jose was not pushed out, he definitely came under such amount of pressure - especially after the Rosenborg ignominy - that his ego wouldn't allow him to stay at Chelsea any longer. Every man has his boiling point, and men with big egos are easier to get pissed off than ordinary guys. That's what most probably happened yesterday at Chelsea.
As a Manchester United fan I should be delighted, not least because Chelsea will be disconcerted and disappointed when they arrive in Manchester on Sunday. However, I wish Chelsea good luck and a good new manager.
Sherzod, Tashkent, Uzbekistan
Goodbye Mourinho you were the best and where ever you may go you will always be the special one! Thank you for Porto, thank you for Chelsea.
Sandra, Denmark,
What a laugh. Money can't buy your love Jose.
Looks like Chelsea may now go the way of Hearts with the owner picking the team, and generally being rubbish as a result. Lampard to move to Southend. Drogba to move to Coventry. Bring it on.
BigTubesy, London,
I am really disappointed of the departure of "The special one" Jose Mourinho.I personally as a soccer fan has seen the downfall of many top european clubs with the shocking exit of managers. This has a great effect on the team especially when you have someone like Mourinho in your team.
Hope things are going to be better for Essien and his men in Chelsea.
COLLINS E. CUDJOE, TARKWA, WESTER REGION - GHANA
A great loss to Chelsea and The Premiership of a hugely talented, engaging, courageous and charismatic manager. Certainly he appeared also to be 'strong beer' at times and more than a handful for the owner who seems to have bought Chelsea (and some players) as his personal plaything. It will be interesting to see if the Chelsea fans can claim their club back from the oligarch!! - In any event Jose Mourinho's reputation as the special one is safe, Chelsea's reputation is for sale and the Oligarch's tainted by the waste of a unique football coach. It will be interesting to see where Mourinho surfaces to brighten the football firmament - lets hope its the Premiership.
(a Manchester United fan!)
Tony, Uckfield, UK
Stunned, absolutely stunned. This is Chelsea's loss; they will go into meltdown now; Terry, Lampard, Drogba - and maybe a few others - will follow Jose out the door and if they couldn't win the Champions League playing Jose's pragmatic style, they certainly won't win it trying to play "expansive" football.
Brian, Somerset, UK
I can't believe the the special one has gone how can the Chelsea board have let the best and one of the most youngest managers in the world sip through the net he still had so much more more to give.
GOOD LUCK JOSE.
james hyland london
james hyland, london, england
Whether or not we want to admit it apart from his biggest mouth he's one of the best managers if not the best manager in the world...He has had enourmous success every
where he goes and even the great Sir Alex hasn't had the same amount of success as Jose in a short period of time..If Chelea and Roman had shown him more faith and had actually listened to Jose like the way Man utd had shown Alex I think Chelsea would have had enormous success in Europe..
The next team coached Jose will be very fortunate and this is a disastrous loss for Chesea....
Carl, Sngapore, Singapore
Finally, Chelsea's era is over. It's officially over. Time for Liverpool to show them what football is all about.
James Pong, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
He should have left when Shevchenko and Ballack were forced upon him. Onwards to White Hart Lane.
Vincent, Kanturk, Ireland
you know its funny now that he left that i am seing all these remarks about mourinho being the such a great guy and manager however when he was with chelsea his public enemy number 1 and he was the most hated man in the world. man its funny and at the same time sad very very very sad why cnt u people just admit ur jealous of chelsea serz its getting old
Ahmed Mohamud, epping , melbourne
There's always a difference between money gathered legitimately over time with hard work and some sudden enrichment from a failed state. The Glazers would never do such a thing as interfering with coaching functions and impeding the coach's style of work by throwing selfish and overbearing interest at the wheels of progress.
Who will teach Abramovich with all his billions that success is garnered over time, step-by-step, stone-by-stone and not gotten by other means?
It just shows that having so much money doesn't guarantee that you'll have in-depth understanding of principles of success in life. It can NEVER be taken from him - Mourinho is a world class coach. One of the best in the world.
Adios Jose. We in Africa love you so much! You have already made your mark.
Anthony Arojojoye, Lagos, Nigeria
I agree with Sam of NY Mark Hughes would be great for Chelsea. He has been superb at Blackburn and would bring some stability.Mourhinho will be missed for his charisma but he does say some silly things and i think he will now go for the Portugal job.
Stuart Evans, HERTFORD, Herts
i cant believe that jose is push to resign..it is just unbelieveable..tis guy got style and prinsip..he make chelsea a team to be scared of..every season when he is with chelsea he wont trophies..talking bout style..the rosenborg match chelsea dominated well..thy play well..the only thing is that chelsea is just unlucky..this is football..he make it without big names and won champion leagues wid porto..he win wid chelsea 2 season of english premier league trophy which chelsea havent won over the past 50years..he make chelsea almost totally unbeatable in stamford bridge..this man gaves his all for chelsea's fans, and the people in the club..chelsea's fan and those ppl in the club should show some support back..manchester united and arsenal did go trough seasons without trophies and wat happen to thier manager ..nothing happen..
ben, penang, malaysia
If you read other comments, u will see that this decision has caused happiness to Man U supporters, simply cos Jose is the one who challanged everyone for the top spot and he did it for Chelsea - the SPECIAL ONE who changed things around in the Bridge but was unable to change heart of a rich guy. JOSE u will remain in our hearts for the rest of our lives. WE LOVE U and I KNOW THAT WE WILL MISS U ALOT. I am very worried for my beloved team. Please get someone as good as him.
Ahmar, Islamabad, Pakistan
It is a loss to football but hay ho what will be will be.The worst thing is when teams loose managers they normally go on to win the next match so look out Man Utd
Neil Man utd Fan
Neil, Ravenstone, England
Wherever there are egotistical executives backed by gangster style money, football suffers because it is seen as simply a profit raiser, and that for a very few people. Fans at grounds are simply the studio audience and have no bearing on the thinking of these guys. Look at Kenyon and Dein, star stirrers and totally unproductive.
Bob Hope, Huntingdon, U.K.
I'm a die hard chelsea fan. The strong man is gone and another will take his place, show goes on. UP BLUES !
IZUNNA IWOBI, FCT. Abuja, Nigeria
Roman and Kenyon need to realise that they have lost the greatest talent in football. A sore lesson that needs to be learnt if they want to be able to replace him. Leave the job of running the team to the manager and the job of running the business to Roman and Peter Kenyon.
Jose you will be greatly missed by Chelsea and the Premiership, love him or hate him, you have to admit he bought great colour to the game.
Adam, Lymington, UK
I'm no fan of Chelsea, but I do respect Mourinho. 2 League Titles in 3 years and he gets this treatment? Sad, sad club.
Jayden Cruz, Tung Chung, Hong Kong
I don't care about Jose or Chelsea, we're top of the league!
ARSENAL RULE!
Darren, Wellington, New Zealand
Good bye Jose and thanks for everything!!! yes you made us hated but that was because you made us winners, no other manager has ever won the league in his first season and then followed it with back to back titles, 2 League Cups and the FA Cup(and all in 3 years)
Unfortunately we could all see it coming and all Chelsea fans are left with some great memories, but the club is bigger than us all and now its important that Roman and the board get it right with the new appointment to take us to that next level.

Mourinho's greatest achievement was to deflect the majority of the negative press from his squad. His audacity was really only a front to achieve this. Now let's see how this team can work without their special one shield.

When you are one of the richest man on Earth and you have Rasputin(s) (Grant, Arnesen) by your side, expect the worst! This is a disastrous situation for Chelsea. I cannot see Chelsea winning anything this year without Jose Mourinho. Chelsea has just been transported back 3 years and 2 months! Come May, Chelsea will not be in the title run-in. Just want to thank Jose Mourinho for 3 great years and I will follow his new team. I am done with Chelsea.
Weng, Kuala Lumpur,
I'm still in deep shock! Mourinho was Chelsea's saviour. Now he's gone I'll be interested to see how the board pick up the pieces, or indeed who leaves next! Are Lamps and Drogs cup-tied?? Either way, there's gonna be a fair few Chelsea Fans deeply disappointed by the clubs decision, myself included. God save Mourinho!!!

Outrageous!!! Shocking!!!!... M was the best thing to have ever happened to Chelsea in the past few years! He was a good coach, very vocal! The BBC commentry team this weekend will have a ball about M, they never liked him. Alan Hanson, Gary Linekar, Gavin Peacock, Alan Shearer! Hope you are listening! How about shutting up and take up the manager's job at Chelsea! Any one of you. should be great if you could deliver the cups as well as you talk. M deserved better than this. He will be missed at Stamford Bridge.
M made Chelsea fans proud! I am sure they will also miss him this weekend. He deserved to say good bye in front of the home fans, not like this.

Jose might be history at the Bridge but one very important thing will stay with the club forever â Mourinhoâs winning mentality and the believe that Chelsea is truly a great club in England and worldwide. For that Chelsea will benefit in the years to come and forever be Jose Mourinho grateful.

I have no Love for Mourinho, but shame on chelsea for giving up on one of the best managers in the world because of a few bad beats. After the Rosenborg match and before the announcement, chelsea fans at teamtalk.com was calling for his head. Now they got it and they should bow their heads in shame

He was one cool dude. English football will be even more boring. If that's possible.

This wa long overdue ! Leadership is attitude , not ego. Theres a thin line in between and unfortunately Jose crossed it. Pick up the pieces Jose and learn the lessons. Good luck.
Ken Mwangi, Nairobi, Kenya
Given Chelsea's fantastic record over Jose's reign I believe it is a huge mistake. He does not suddenly stop being a good manager. The players are far more responsible for recent poor results.
Good luck Jose, I'll miss ya.

as a long standing chelsea fan i have now lost respect for the club why do we seem to stab our best managers in the back... gullitt, vialli, raneri and now jose. The club is now at risk of falling apart. nice work roman lets hear what the fans think on sunday.
geoff steele, larne, n.ireland
Great news, lets hope the team will now start playing football worth watching.
jason, London,
Believe me forget about Mourinho good coach but very arrogant and a moaner. If you want a humble first class coach with passion complete pedigree in every competition intelligence and spirit Chelsea has only few coaches to choose, THE GREAT FABIO CAPELLO or MARCELLO LIPPI at list this two have respect and great knowledge of football has they won every thingh in the table with every team they have been.
Angela, London,
abramovich should have stuck to what he knows best and let mourinho do his job. watch us go downhill now ,he has shot his self in the foot big time bring back jose and get rid of abramovich
soph, dover,
R.A. is a donkey. If he just wants to play around with a football club then why did he come to England. Not only does he make a mockery of Chelsea, but English football too. Players like the ones he wants would go anywhere if he paid them enough so i think he should leave Chelsea and England and find a new place to do his dirty deeds. Good luck to Jose and see you next tuesday to Roman.
