José Mourinho has uttered his first words of dissent since leaving Chelsea by predicting that the club’s 67-match unbeaten home league record will soon come to an end. The Portuguese has been careful to stick to the party line of mutual consent after his departure last week, but suggested yesterday that he would be missed.
“The fans never left Stamford Bridge crying because we never lost,” Mourinho said. “We beat the record and the day they lose a match at home, they will remember that they were three years without losing a single league game there.”
Mourinho blamed Chelsea’s board for his downfall, saying that his achievements should have brought stability. “Here, the culture is not one of change,” he said. “Sir Alex Ferguson was at Manchester United a lot of years without winning titles and he continues. [Arsène] Wenger’s already in his third year without winning titles and continues in his work. If it were for the fans, I’d have a contract for 20 years and I’d continue working without any problem. Here, the culture is different. People like me and there is an excellent relationship.”
Sven-Göran Eriksson’s presence in close proximity to Roman Abramovich at Old Trafford on Sunday, for Chelsea’s match against United, predictably set tongues wagging. But the Swede said yesterday that he was fully committed to Manchester City. “They gave me a ticket, so I had to sit where I got told to sit,” he said.

As a chelsea fan, im dissapointed to see Mourinho sacked. He's way better than Grant - what a shame to see the Special One go. That was a stupid move by the club. Bring Him Back!

jose mourinhos leaving chelsea leaves a great deluge in chelsea particularly with what he put on ground: a fantastic side. every team has a bad day and withtheinterference of rich owners in football its apparent the issue is not about the good of the game but about profit making. am not a chelsea fan but thisman jose knows the job. milan could pick him up i hope.

jose was a good man , i liked the rivalry between him and my Manchester United compared to that of wenger.its better for wenger to be sacked by arsenal than Jose by abramivich.its good to play chelsea with Jose than without.

Thanks for everything Jose
Hope Roman comes to his senses and begs you to come back!
Angela, Melbourne, Australia
what is worse? jose leaving or roman leaving? i think the latter would meen the end. although jose leaving is horrible the fans should be careful that romans money is more important for the clubs survival and improvement, him going would meen the end really.

as a sport jounalist I could say EPL will not the same without Jose. He always coloured the news in a very unique way, but never in his reign at Chelsea he forgets to make sure his team will win first (forget the beautiful game) and then he can say whatever he wanna say. As an Arsenal fan I think Jose has done well by winning two EPL titles for Chelsea. Unfortunately that was not enough for Roman whom asked "a bridge too far" by hoping Chelsea can play like Arsene's team. Of course the phylosphy of Arsene and Jose is different, but maybe in the next 4 or 5 years Jose can push his team to perform beautiful football, but not this season for sure. Chelsea will find out what it means if you say, "You don't know what you got until you lose it."

errrr, can people not see what hes done. He quit 3 days before one of their biggest matches of the season and took with him all his scouting material that he had on man utd with him so who ever took charge in his place and the players wouldn't have a clue what man utd were planning that day. He well and truly landed the staff , the players and the fans in it but most importantly he increased the chances of united winning. how loyal is that. The players don't seem too bothered that hes left especially as he had a big bust up with them a few days before he quit , or was he sacked? 2 different rumours are going around at the moment but i suppose where mourinios concerned the truth is unimportant and will never come out.
karen, lancashire,
Only those who are stupid will think Jose's departure is not vital. I'm an Aesenal fan but the only person I admire in chelsea is Jose, He is too skillful and his has the best strategy to turn a great match around.
His level arrogance is normal and not abnormal for his skills, nature achievement and styles. He is himself.
His best word I like to hear is "I Zink"

I'm an Arsenal fan but have to admire what Mourinho has done for Chelsea...and no doubt will do for his next club. Money or no money, you have to really know your football to win one premiership-let alone two in three years.
Abramovich and Kenyon are dreaming....Liverpool and United (much as I hate having to say it) are the icons of English football. They have the tradition, and of course the results to make that claim. My beloved Gunners are not too far behind.
Mourinho was beginning to lay the foundations for Chelsea to get there one day. You need a combination of tradition, a hatfull of league titles, a bunch of FA cups, a few Carling cups and some European cred. Not just Champions League Mr Kenyon.
Look at Villa and Forest. Are they at the same iconic level as Arsenal? Yet they've had European Cup success. If Mourinho was allowed to do his thing over the next ten years, he would probably have created a unique era in Chelsea tradition.
And remember I'm an Arsenal fan.

Should the members of the board of any company tell their boss that he is about to hit the self destruct button? They may risk losing their jobs by telling him unpalatable truths, but they do retain their integrity. The press conference by Buck and Kenyon was evident proof that they would rather look stupid and hold on to their lucrative positions - however long that might now last!
We all enjoyed watching this cringing, craven performance as they struggled to cover for the idiocies of Abramovich.
The self denial that is so clearly rampant within the top echelons at the club will undermine everything that has been acheived in the last ten years. Yes - take note that Chelsea started on the road to the top with Hoddle, Vialli, Gullit and Ranieri. Mourinho was simply the next step in a progression that now falters.
Don't expect Chelsea to win anything until Abromovich achieves enlightenment or sells up and moves on. Don't expect either of these options to happen soon.

Steve -
Chelsea have at times turned on the style though admittedly not often last year. The entertainment factor is a smokescreen.
You think Grant is going to produce 'sexy football'?
Losing Mourinho has very little to do with aesthetics and every thing to do with ego. I read somewhere that when the fans were chanting 'Jose Mourinho' Abromovich turned to Bruce Buck and asked him why they were not chanting his name instead. He had after all paid for the priveledge - or so he thought.
They may well be chanting his name down in the Shed for the next home game, but maybe not quite in the way he had in mind.

The continuing miscommunication between the owner (RA) and Jose meant that one of them has to go. It is always the results that are suffering when incompetent people (such as the owners) are interfering in the coaching. Too bad for the team but I think it is also a publicity stunt for the both sides. I think that Chelsea (RA in particular) wants to demonstrate that they will not tolerate the team stagnating. Although Jose was the best in the history of Chelsea he is far from being the best coach in the world though. I beleive that once the players and the fans are out of the blues the Blues will be on track again. Owners need to understand that it is not "bussines as usual". Football is an emotional thing. Ask the fans.
Milos, Chelsea fan.

Jose certainly brought us titles & trophies. There was very little style however. The first season was great with Duff and Robben making us an exciting team to watch. Seasons 2 & 3 were short of entertainment and one does get sick of 1-0 victories against teams that Man Utd & Arsenal would beat 4-1.
We need a big manager who will help us play attractive attacking football- Jose was not that person.

I have never dreamt jose will leave chelsea like this, its a big lose and chelsea will never have someone like him for a life time again.

Simply the best manager the world has ever seen. A charismatic genius who has taken that little island by storm. It is natural for those with identity crisis, or self loathing to despise that great man. Mourinho is a Chelsea hero.
jones, momo,
Roman Abramovich has brought the downfall of Chelsea. You do not mix football with friendship Mr. Billionnaire.
Sylvester Kamau, Nairobi, Kenya
I will never watch Chelsea again. I have been a fan for over 20 years.
I miss Jose and I wait with anticipation as to where he will go.
Jose, please come to Australia. Abramovich should be shot at dawn, what knowledge of the game has he got (NONE)

Dear Jose,
Please do not blabe others for your downfall. You have yourself to blame for all the CRAP that you having / have / had or about to talk. The problem is simple:
YOU TALK TOO MUCH AND TOO FAST AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST TOO LOUD!
