Chelsea may have expected the Champions League final to be Didier Drogba’s last match for the club, but he says he could still be at Stamford Bridge next season. The Ivory Coast forward is scheduled to sit down with the club at the end of the season to discuss his future, and despite reported interest from some of Europe's biggest clubs he now insists his decision to leave the club is not set in stone.
"Everyone is sending me far from Chelsea," Drogba said. "But what if I stay? I'm not as firm and decisive as I was a few months ago. My family feel good in London and I do too. I have just bought a beautiful house. It doesn't matter to me if people think I don't know what I want. It's my career, not theirs."
The final in Moscow could give Drogba the chance to end his Chelsea career on a high, and he insists he is relishing the contest. "Finals don't scare me anymore," he said. "Yes, a few years ago I was still apprehensive about these huge matches, but now I'm used to it. The fact that I have fought several finals in England has allowed me to conquer these events and control my emotions."
Drogba once again denying accusations that he is diver, following more criticism this week. "Since I had the misfortune to say that I sometimes dived, because people pushed me and not because of cheating, I get the feeling that people take me for a cheat," he said. "Referees in the Premier League as well as the Champions League come to see me before the matches to tell me 'today, we don't dive, eh'? I would love to reply 'I'm a footballer, not a swimmer', but I think they wouldn't listen."
