Inter Milan manager Jose Mourinho has conceded that Frank Lampard is unlikely to move to the San Siro for another year.
The Italian champions have been linked with the 30-year-old England international all summer but no deal has been reached, and the Portuguese admits the transfer will now be “difficult” to complete.
Instead, he believes Lampard is more likely to move on a free transfer if and when his Stamford Bridge contract expires next summer.
“For Lampard, it will be easier to play with Chelsea until the end of his contract rather than break it now, all of a sudden,” the former Chelsea boss said. “It seems to me difficult for him to be able to come here now, it’s easier that he comes next season.”
Meanwhile, Robinho has ended speculation that he could move to Chelsea by committing his future to Real Madrid. "I want to stay at Real Madrid for a long time," the 24-year-old said. "I'm very happy and I want to continue. My head is calm, I want to have a good pre-season with Real Madrid and continue here."
Peter Kenyon, the Chelsea chief executive, admitted this morning that the London club have held talks with Real about the Brazilian, who has also been linked with Manchester United.
Robinho, however, has also had talks with Predrag Mijatovic, the Real sporting director, and it is believed they discussed a new contract, though neither the club nor the player would confirm that.
Reports in Spain say Madrid are unwilling to part with Robinho unless they can strike a deal with United for Cristiano Ronaldo.
