Jose Mourinho says he intends to return to the Premier League once his contract with Inter Milan expires.
The former Chelsea manager took charge at the San Siro in the summer, however, after his side thrashed Roma 4-0 the 45-year-old said he would return to England in 2011, providing he had been successful in Serie A.
"I have to win first," he said. "I like difficult things. After Inter I will return to England, but I want to win here first. I have a contract with Inter, but when that finishes I will definitely return to the Premier League, I like it a lot."
The Portuguese left Stamford Bridge in acrimonious circumstances last September and was linked with a number of Europe's biggest clubs over the summer before opting to move to Italy.
During his time in England, Mourinho led Chelsea to back-to back Premier League titles in 2005 and 2006, as well as winning the FA Cup in 2007 and the League Cup in 2005 and 2007. He also became involved in a series of high-profile run-ins with Rafael Benitez and Arsene Wenger during his time in charge of the club.
It remains unclear where Mourinho would coach should he return, with Chelsea an unlikely option while Roman Abramovich remains in charge of the club, but it may coincide with Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement from Manchester United and many would see him as an ideal replacement for the Scot.
Mourinho has never hidden his admiration for the Liverpool crowd, while Manchester City could also be an option given their significant financial backing.
