The FA will take no action against Luiz Felipe Scolari despite the Chelsea manager accusing referee Mike Dean of “killing” his team and hinting at a conspiracy to keep Arsenal in the Barclays Premier League title race.
The Brazilian demanded an apology from Dean after his assistant failed to spot that Robin van Persie was offside before scoring the first of his two goals in Arsenal's 2-1 victory at Stamford Bridge. Scolari went on to criticise the referee for incorrectly blowing up when Salomon Kalou was through on goal in the fifth minute. However, the governing body has confirmed it will take no action against him.
"We have studied the remarks of Luiz Felipe Scolari and will not be taking any further action," an FA statement read.
After yesterday's game, Scolari said: "I want only after tomorrow that he [Dean] looks at the TV and the referee and the linesman see they are wrong and they say sorry. That is all I want, no more, because they were not good and made a mistake."
Meanwhile, Peter Kenyon, the Chelsea chief executive, expects the squad to be strengthened in the new year - but not by the addition of fresh talent. Kenyon is confident the return of Ricardo Carvalho, Michael Essien and Juliano Belletti, plus the regular involvement of Didier Drogba, will be enough to add impetus to the squad.
"I don't think we will be doing any business in the January transfer window because the type of players we are looking for are not available," Kenyon said.
"Another reason is that we have still got some long-term injuries coming back and, in January or February, Chelsea will have more player availability.
"We put our squad together in the summer and we are concentrating on the squad we have and making sure our players get back from injury. On that basis, we think we have got a good enough squad to improve on last season."
