The FA has charged David Moyes with improper conduct after he was sent off during the 3-2 victory over Stoke City on Sunday. The Everton manager was sent to the stands for protesting that his side should have been awarded a penalty, and Moyes now has until October 2 to respond to the charge.
“The charge relates to Moyes' touchline behaviour during Everton's match against Stoke, ” the FA said.
Alan Wiley, who refereed the fixture, gave a free kick outside the area for a handball by defender Leon Cort, however replays showed that the offence took place inside the box.
The Scot was ordered from the touchline and spent the rest of the match sitting with the home supporters behind the dugout.
"The referee pointed to the spot and from where I was standing he (Cort) was two yards inside (the box)," Moyes said after Sunday's game.
"I've not had a chance to see it yet. If I'm wrong, I'll apologise to him. I would probably expect the same from him (Wiley)."
At the time of the incident the score was level at 2-2 but a late goal from the visitors saw them take all three points.
