Fulham have announced plans to increase the capacity of Craven Cottage by 4000 seats. The stadium currently holds 22,000 supporters and the club have approached the local council to extend that to 26,000.
Fulham are hoping to redevelop the Riverside Stand by removing the executive boxes and also open the riverside walk to the public and fully restore the listed turnstiles.
If the plans are approved, the Cottagers will begin work at the end of the current season.
Mohamed Al Fayed, the Fulham chairman, said: "Craven Cottage is synonymous with Fulham FC and it is vital that the club is given every opportunity to develop the facilities available, to enable it to remain at its' home.
"I am confident that an increased capacity and further improvements to the facilities can help us reach and maintain our business objectives."
The club will also provide £1 million in funding to help council plans to rejuvenate nearby Bishop's Park.

I too am quite annoyed at many sites quoting our stadium as 22,000 or 24,500 when the FULHAM website says 26,300 and even Wikipedia says 26,300. And our page on this website has Bouba Diop on it??? Have you not yet realised he plays for Portsmouth?? It will be made into a 30,000 seater. Please get your facts right before writing this.
Aaron, Croydon,
The current capacity at Fulham is 26,000.
NOT the 22,000 as you state in one part of the article.
NOR the 24,600 you state in the "club details" box-out.
Getting it wrong once is a mistake. Getting it wrong twice means the subby's asleep.
Steve Browne, Telford, UK
footballgroundguide.co.uk and your own infobox both give the current capacity as 24,600 and the record all-seater attendance is 24,554. The statement on the official website says that 4,000 extra seats will be added without commenting on current capacity. Thus it appears that the expanded capacity will be 28,600.
Oliver Chettle, Bedford,
The capacity is actually 26000 at the moment and it will be extended to 30000. Please can you get your facts right
