1959: Born in Lambeth on October 22.
1984: Began playing career at Reading in the Third and Fourth Divisions before joining Wimbledon shortly before Christmas.
1986: May 3 - Scores winner against Huddersfield Town which seals the Wimbledon's promotion to the old First Division.
1988: Scores the winning goal for Wimbledon in their 1-0 victory over Liverpool in the FA Cup final at Wembley.
1994: Leaves Wimbledon after almost ten years and 317 games, scoring 35 goals.
March - Has brief spell at Swindon Town before making first move into management with Sligo Rovers in Ireland.
1995 - Guides Sligo to the semi-finals of the FAI Cup before leaving at the end of the season to take up coaching appointment at Wimbledon where he initially manages the reserve side before moving up to first-team coach.
1999: February 5 - Appointed manager of Wycombe Wanderers with the club bottom of the Second Division. Five points adrift with 11 games remaining, Wycombe collected 23 out of the remaining 33 points to avoid relegation, Paul Emblen scoring the vital winner against Lincoln City with seven minutes of the last game of the season to go.
2000: Wycombe finish 12th in the Second Division.
2001: March 10 - Wycombe defeat Leicester City 2-1 at Filbert Street with Roy Essandoh scoring the winner after being recruited shortly beforehand on the internet; Sanchez watched the finale on a monitor after being sent from the touchline for arguing with the fourth official.
April 8 - Wycombe lose FA Cup semi-final to Liverpool.
2002: Wycombe finish 11th in the Second Division.
2003: A late loss of form sees Wycombe stumble to 18th in the league.
September 30 - After a promising start Wycombe take just three points from nine league games and Sanchez is sacked after a 2-1 defeat by Tranmere Rovers.
2004: January 21 - Named as new manager of Northern Ireland.
February 18 - Defeated 4-1 by Norway in friendly in Belfast in first game in charge in Belfast.
March 31 - Sanchez secures Northern Ireland's first win in 16 games in only his second game at the helm when they beat Estonia 1-0 in a friendly in Tallinn.
September 4 - Northern Ireland defeated 3-0 by Poland in World Cup qualifier in Sanchez's first competitive game.
September 8 - First point secured in World Cup qualifying with a 2-2 draw in Wales.
2005: March 25 - Sanchez signs two-and-a-half year extension to his contract.
March 26 - Northern Ireland lose 4-0 to England at Old Trafford. Four days later they lose 1-0 away to Poland.
September 7 - The province secure one of the greatest results in their history as they beat England 1-0 at Windsor Park with David Healy scoring the only goal.
October - The World Cup campaign ends with two defeats, first losing 3-2 at home to Wales and then 2-0 away to Austria.
November 15 - Euro 2004 finalists Portugal held to a 1-1 draw in Belfast.
December 5 - The Irish Football Association give Portsmouth permission to speak to Sanchez after the sacking of Alain Perrin. The job eventually goes to Harry Redknapp.
2006: September 2 - Northern Ireland lose their opening 2008 European Championship qualifying match 3-0 at home to Iceland.
September 6 - Almost a year on from beating England, Spain are defeated 3-2 in Belfast as David Healy scores a hat-trick. Sanchez refuses to talk to the media after the game.
September 9 - Sanchez announces he will stay on despite "the level and ferocity of the criticism from certain sections of the media".
He adds in a statement: "Certainly the Northern Ireland team deserve more respect for what we have achieved and the progress that has been made these past three seasons."
2007: March 28 - Northern Ireland come from behind to record another sensational result, beating Sweden 2-1 at Windsor Park with two David Healy goals to move to the top of Group F.
April 10 - Named caretaker manager of Fulham for final five matches of the season after Premiership club obtain permission from the Northern Ireland's FA.
May 5 - A 1-0 home win over Liverpool secures Fulham's Premier League status for another season.
May 11 - Confirmed as permanent Fulham manager on an "indefinite rolling contract". Resigns with immediate effect as Northern Ireland manager.
Dec 21 - Parts company with Fulham following a run of four defeats in five games which sees the club drop into the relegation zone.
