Liverpool confirm Anthony Le Tallec sale

Liverpool have confirmed they have completed the sale of Anthony Le Tallec to Le Mans.

The 23-year-old has signed a four-year-deal with Le Mans after spending last season on loan at the French club following spells with Le Havre, St Etienne, Sunderland and Sochaux.

Gerard Houllier brought the Frenchman to Anfield in 2003 alongside Florent Sinama-Pongolle, who were both were teammates in France's Under-17 World Cup-winning side.

Le Tallec only managed one goal for the Reds, although he did play in the Champions League quarter-final against Juventus in 2005.

"I need stability, a sporting plan, and Le Mans gives me this chance," he said.

The terms of the transfer remain undisclosed.
