Liverpool have completed the signing of David Ngog, the highly-rated teenage forward, from Paris St Germain.
The 19-year-old has signed a four-year contract with the Barclays Premier League club and goes straight into the first-team squad, alongside fellow summer arrivals Andrea Dossena, Diego Cavalieri and Philipp Degen.
Ngog, who is the cousin of Jean-Alain Boumsong, the former Rangers and Newcastle defender, struggled in an under-performing PSG team last season as the French club barely maintained their Ligue 1 status.
He scored just once in 18 appearances but has been far more effective at various levels for France.
The pacy forward has scored at every youth level for his country, including a brace against England Under-19s last season.
His exit from the Parc des Princes seemed inevitable from the moment he refused to sign a new contract with Paul le Guen's side as he entered the final year of his deal, and Liverpool soon stepped in with a bid thought to be around the £1.5 million mark.

Have the most "knowledgable fans in the world" lost their minds??
The boy is 19 years old. So what if he only scored 1 goal in 18 appearances, how many of those were starts and he was playing for an awful PSG. Veronin is not a bad player. He has been trying to adjust to playing in the premiership
Lucas, Belfast,
premier league, rarely used and suffered from injury. If thats how you judge a player I think you seriously need to chose another sport to follow cose football obviously isnt it. How can you be so narrow minded? plus he only cost 1.5mil.........
Lucas, Belfast,
I'm worried that all the attention is being given to the potential & not enough to the 1st team. i'm all for developing quality players for future but LFC need to buy for the 1st team, 4 top class plyrs a season not 1 plus 3 average ones who wouldn't make the bench of the other top 4 teams.
seb, London,
Jonathan,
In fairness to Pongolle I don't think he ever had a decent crack of the whip. We'll always have the Luton (away FAC win) and the goal v. Olympiakos games to remember not to mention his Cruyff turn in the Arsenal (Neil Mellor winner) game that had 2 defenders having to pay to get back in!
Marc , Liverpool, UK
In Rafa we trust, but it wouldn't be the first bad signing he has made.. Having said that, Houllier struggled to get quality from the French market (Le Tallec, Pongolle, Cheyrou, Cisse) and he was, er, french!
Jonathan, Liverpool,
This guy is tall, very athletic & has real pace. For Rafa to snap up such a talent for the equivalent of paying eg Shevchenko to warm a bench for a few months, is pretty amazing.
3 yrs ago Theo cost 12m - only now Wenger is hoping he becomes a 1st team regular. Ngog has similar potential at 1.5m!
Ayaz, Wakefield,
I'm agog. 1 goal in 18 games? Even the awful Voronin has a better strike rate than that.
Has Benitez lost his mind ?
