Wayne Rooney backs attempt to turn Zero into a hero

Wayne Rooney, the Manchester United and England striker, launched a competition yesterday to provide funds for youth development at clubs in the Football League and Clydesdale Bank Premier League in Scotland. The “Find The Next Rooney” promotion can be entered by buying cans of Coca-Cola Zero, with eight weekly prizes of £25,000 going to clubs until March 3.

“It’s important we do everything we can to help the next generation of players,” Rooney said, after helping United to a 2-0 win over Aston Villa on Saturday.
