Nemanja Vidic ruled out for up to three weeks

Manchester United have confirmed Nemanja Vidic has been ruled out for two or three weeks with a knee injury. The Serbia international was forced out of Tuesday night's Champions League quarter-final first leg at Roma after falling awkwardly half-an-hour into the game.

His withdrawal sparked fears of a long-term absence but a scan yesterday showed the problem not to be serious.

A club spokesman said: "There is no major damage to the left knee, and he will be out for two-three weeks."

Vidic is likely to miss Sunday's Barclays Premier League trip to Middlesbrough, Wednesday's Champions League return against Roma and the following weekend's league clash with Arsenal.

But he could return to face Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park on April 19, and will hope to play should United reach the Champions League semi-finals.
