Mido likely to miss rest of the season

Mido, the Middlesbrough striker, is likely to miss the rest of the season after undergoing an operation to repair a hernia. The 25-year-old joined the club before the start of last season in a £6 million move from Tottenham Hotspur.

Having apparently overcome the weight problems that affected him during his time at Tottenham, the Egypt international has been hampered this season by a troublesome pelvic injury.

His start at Aston Villa last month was his first in the Premier League since October, and he has recently been sidelined by a three-match ban following the red card he received for catching Gael Clichy with a high boot in a 1-1 draw at Arsenal last month.
