Portsmouth experience a competitive match overseas this evening for the first time and Harry Redknapp has no plans to field a team designed to hold on to the 2-0 lead his players established against Vitória Guimarães in the first leg a fortnight ago. The Portsmouth manager has the option of playing a 4-5-1 formation, if Sean Davis recovers from a groin injury, but he refused to show his hand yesterday.

“I've considered it,” Redknapp said. “But we're not going to sit back and invite pressure. We will look to score and make it difficult for them. We saw enough in the first leg to know that they'll be dangerous opposition. But we're a good team as well.”

Guimarães have yet to win at home this season and are seventh in the Portuguese league. However, they won 3-1 away to Trofense on Sunday, when Douglas, the Brazilian who missed the first leg through injury, scored twice. He will be available this evening.
