Roman Pavlyuchenko, the Tottenham Hotspur striker, claims he has been given assurances about his future at White Hart Lane.

Pavlyuchenko has been in and out of team since he joined the club last summer and his agent recently met Harry Redknapp, the Tottenham Hotspur, where he says he was given guarantees over the Russia striker's future.

"I am a Tottenham player and want to remain one," Pavlyuchenko said. "All these talks about a sale or loan don't bother me."

The 27-year-old, however, did admit he questioned his future when he turned out for the reserves.

He added: "Of course it is not pleasant to be in the reserves. When I did not play for several matches I started to think everything over and to tell the truth I had some disturbing thoughts."

Redknapp attempted to sign Kenwyne Jones during the transfer window and ahead of the summer will have been encouraged by Roque Santa Cruz intending to leave Blackburn. The Tottenham manager has also watched Genoa striker Diego Milito.

"English clubs have made interesting offers," Fernando Hidalgo Hidalgo, Milito's representative, said.

Meanwhile, full-back Pascal Chimbonda is among the players who have welcomed the alcohol ban Redknapp has talked about implementing following Ledley King's arrest last weekend.

"It's fine for me," Chimbonda said. "I don't drink a lot."
