Carlo Cudicini, the Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper, has fractured his wrists and injured his pelvis after crashing his motorbike today.

The 36-year-old hit a Ford Fiesta at about 10.30am on Forest Road, Walthamstow, east London and although his injuries are not life-threatening, but they were described as “possibly life-changing” by a police spokesman.

According to the official Tottenham website, the Italian has undergone scans at an east London hospital under the supervision of club medical staff.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: “London Ambulance Service, helicopter emergency medical service and police attended and discovered the 36-year-old male motorcyclist suffering from injuries described by LAS as possibly life-changing."

The woman driver of the car and a child who was in the car with her did not need hospital treatment.

Roads were closed in the area after the incident which is being investigated by the Chadwell Heath collision investigation unit.

No arrests have been made.

A statement on the club’s website said: “Carlo Cudicini has fractured his wrists and injured his pelvis after being involved in a road accident this morning.

“The club will update supporters on Carlo as soon as there is any further information.”

Cudicini arrived at Tottenham from Chelsea on a free transfer in January but has spent most of his time as second choice after failing to dislodge Heurelho Gomes, the Brazilian goalkeeper.
