Fernando Alonso’s future at McLaren Mercedes is in doubt after allegations that he threatened to tell the FIA, the governing body of motor sport, about Ferrari secrets on his computer unless he was confirmed as the team’s No 1 driver.
The disclosures increase the likelihood that the Spaniard will not drive for the Woking-based team next season and will possibly join Renault or even take a year’s sabbatical. There were even suggestions that he may not survive the remainder of this season, which would effectively present the world championship to Lewis Hamilton, his rookie team-mate.
Alonso is alleged to have made his threat during a row with Ron Dennis, the McLaren team principal, on the morning of the Hungarian Grand Prix on August 5. It came as Alonso tried to force Dennis to give him preferential treatment over Hamilton, the championship leader, or let him leave McLaren at the end of the season.
The details of the row, which spread like wildfire in the paddock in Spa, where the Belgian Grand Prix is being staged this weekend, leaked from McLaren after it was reported on an internet site that it had been Dennis who informed the FIA of new evidence linking his team to the Ferrari spying scandal. That revelation was followed by the publication by the FIA yesterday of the details of its judgment against McLaren on Thursday that resulted in a fine of £50 million and the team being thrown out of this year’s constructors’ championship.
Bernie Ecclestone, the ringmaster of Formula One, said that he campaigned for McLaren to be fined by the FIA, but admitted that the Woking-based team came close to exclusion from the championship for two years. “It came very close to McLaren being thrown out, it really was a genuine possibility,” Ecclestone said.

It's obvious that Alonso has a very competitive spirit & is a goo d athlete. He deserved better treatment at McLaren. I have been watching F1 for some years & have observed many good drivers who were good at complaining. It's easy to see that Alonso works hard & is a top competitor because of it.
Richard Deziel, Woonsocket, RI, United States
Its quite strange reading all these comments because it's obvious that people do not have a love or even an interest in their sport, only in their countrymen winning at any cost. It is very sad, because whilst Alonso is a great driver and a worthy two times world champion, the has behaved like a spoilt and unsporting child this year. To win and be gracious is how it should be, but to be beaten and still be gracious is the markings of true competitor. Come on people, be led by the facts not nationality!
sophie, Auckland, NZ
Alonso and Dela Rosa should be fired immediately. Both conspired in this unhappy saga and contributed to McLaren's problems. If there is any justice in the world neither of them will be given a ride again.
Some of the contributors to this discussion seem to have short and convenient memories when it comes to McLaren. They have been around a long time and Prost, Senna, Hakkinen have won world championships in their cars. They will be around long after Alonso has gone to sulk somewhere else.
Ferrari seem to believe that winning the championship by contriving to get their main rivals excluded is acceptable, at any cost. If that's the case, perhaps they should have their own championship and run races like Indy 2005 every fortnight.
Todt, like Stepney, Coughlan and the two spaniards are responsible for dragging F1 into the dirt and should never be allowed back in.
Jeff Bellamy, Peterborough, England
It seems clear that as Alonso's behaviour was impeccable McLaren was in a bad position and that had to be changed.
So suddenly they make up this story about Alonso threatening Dennis but they fail to show any evidence at all, then Dennis tells the FIA about the whole spying thing and everyone in UK is surprised when FIA fines McLaren with 100M. What did you expect, a trophy?
McLaren is a joke and it would be better for them if they stopped behaving in such a pathetic way.
Spying other teams and upsetting their own drivers will earn them a bad reputation.
Javier, Madrid, Spain
Ron Dennis doesn't expel Alonso because he wants to win at least the driver championship because Hamilton doesn't know how to drive the car without the Alonso's references.
Dani, Palencia, Spain
Alonso will beat Hamilton, like he did before with Schumi.

Read international news, read the integral Fia sentence. Then come back here and write.
Fabrizio, Pistoia,
why is winning mclaren more often? cos´ Alonso is drivin´for them.time will put everyone in his place, lets wait and see who´s finally the champion and where´s mclaren next year if alonso is not there.
berto, oviedo,
ME! ME! ME! It's all about ME!
Hmmm
Alonso involved, but faces no sanction...
Dennis not involved, but rolled by the FIA...
Who, in the WSMC is holding Alonso's hand, making sure he stays out of trouble?
Alonso - the man without honour.
Mark, Ottawa, Canada
This year's Ferrari is inferior to the McLaren anyway so what use is information about it to them?
Even if they wanted to produce a copy (which clearly they haven't), would they understand the dynamics and get the best set up without a Ferrari engineer also joining them?
Why is Renault not being punished when they are in possession of detailed McLaren information?
To beat another team you have to do something different, not copy them!
Stan Kirk, Canterbury, UK
Alonso doesn't need a preferential treatment over anyone. He's twice world champion and has 6 years of experience in F1 races. He only need a real equal treatment. Most of the spanish F1 fans and Alonso's supporters are asking about the problem in Barhain, the problems with tyre's pressure and also about the hungrian inccident which don't forget costs the loose of points to the team and a big public argument between Ron Dennis and Hamilton.
I demand a real equal treatment for the drivers to have a fair champion and an exciting championship. And may the best man win.
Greetings from Madrid. Puxa Alonso.
Farni, Madrid, Spain
McLaren and Hamilton have a winning car this year because of the awesome job of De la Rosa and Alonso during the season, which they did using information provided by McLaren.
Do you really think Hamilton didn´t know about Ferrari inside information? Why didn´t he go whining to FIA then, as he has done whenever something went wrong for him this season?
Do you really think Fernando (or Michael Schumacher) would leave otner driver take over (whoever he might be) when he had the best position on the track?
Come on, be serious and less hypocritical!!
IBA, Spain,
Common, the only fact is that as of today two engineers, one from Ferrari Stepney, and the ther one from McLaren, Coughlan, took confidential information from Ferrari and they were caught. The rest is pure garbage not worthy of The Times, and it sure looks like a bit personal against Alonso. Expecting to have a highly charismatic and lovable champion who kisses babies while running a car at maximum speeds, it is like asking Tyson to recite Shakespeare, just plain unrealistic.
David, Shanghai,
Mclaren are a joke. Alonso is Twice World Champion and a great professional. He has done everything for mclaren, changing the cars to championship cars. Just because hamilton is english he gets the best treatment more so than Alonso. Mclaren have done it all wrong this season. They dont deserve Alonso.
You will see how mclaren will crash once Alonso leaves.
Alonso has done nothing wrong. Just you brits dont like when a foreigner is better. Grow up.
Viva Alonso!!!!
Pio Pio, Spain, Spain
Montoya is very happy here in the states racing in NASCAR and we love him! So glad that he is not part of F-1 anymore. Here's hoping that Lewis Hamilton will come across the pond as well. We Yanks love our racing and play fair and square. You get honesty when there is a democracy instead of one guy running the show for his one favorite team Ferrari. So glad F-1 will not be back at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. We don't need F-1. We have plenty of great racing without them.
Deb Lamb, Indianapolis, Indiana, USA

Pilots won race thanks to an illegal car, so how to judge a world champion that compete over the rules?

F1 has lost the plot
and that I am sorry to say includes Bernie and the vindictive Max, a judge making threats of the outcome before a hearing?
they get a new star Lewis Hamilton and a spoilt world champion Alonso and there is real competition equals and
result s in more people watching really bad technology television broadcasting.
Bernie your fault.
yours was more like it.

you are in the entertainment business

why not F1
so Max and Bernie get off your arrogant high horses
we the public want something better,
otherwise Indy and Champ might get back together
employ better drivers and go all over the world
and goodbye to the F1 proccession.

Having worked in Formula 1 for 11 years, (the best employment years of my life), I would categoricaly state Ron Dennis is a man of impecable reputation who strives to maintain the highest personal standards in his staff at his factories. I do not believe that Ron Dennis would have used this Ferrari information even if he had it!
Mclaren International have been thrashing Ferrari for years until Michael Schumacher came to drive for Ferrari and he is a legendary driver who drove our Ford engined car to victory when he had less power and poorly handling car.
Its time to draw a line under this overblown story!
Tim, Dundee, Scotland
Aside from the findings of the FIA , which resulted in a somewhat disproportionate fine being imposed against Mclaren, the news that Alonso threatened to 'spill the beans' if he was not declared as Number 1 driver merely typifies the disgraceful behaviour he has been displaying all season.
Throughout 2007, Alonso has demonstrated clear discomfort at the successes of his rookie team-mate, which has brought to light a somewhat darker side to the two-time World Champion. Following his success at Renault, he is clearly unhappy with the prospect of losing to Hamilton, who has raced him fair and square on the track and beaten him many times. As a result of this, Alonso has been throwing his toys out of the pram all season and the news of this row with Dennis brings this issue to the boil.
Formula One should be a gentleman's sport and there is no room for selfish, egotistical and unsportsmanlike behaviour and as such, perhaps it should be Alonso who is 'thrown out' of the Championship.
John Stanton, Dorking, Surrey
I would trust Alonso´s word because : Who lied, who cheated ? - MMcLaren Mercedes` manager and technicians -.
By the way, have you, Britons, ever heard about basketball ? There is an European Championship taking place. Where is England ?
Luis Hamilton, Pernanbuco, Spain
This formula 1 farandula used to be. I remember being a kid and watching it at home on Sundays, and I liked it because it made me feel special. Everybody turned to football, I liked those cars.
When a Spaniard broke into the pits and started to bring glory, this became even more exciting.
However, for the Isles it sounded as if another brit sport had been taken by Spain.
This couldn't take too long. The British continent pride -let's say it somehow- lit the feeling once more; They're the center of the world, and had to strike back with their brit style and steal the show. How come a Spaniard could be facing their Empire?
Unfortunately, this has happened.
OK, take the Scattergory-Formula1 show, you created it, have it with potatoes tomorrow for lunch if you wish. It isn't anything special any longer. It's become another way to sell yellow press. More opium for the people.
I join the belgian reader to watch some cricket.
Enric, Barcelona,
You couldn't make this up! If Hamilton wins the championship (which I understand he will) then this could be a perfect Hollywood teen film. Days of Thunder for the Naughties. it has everything except some eye candy. No doubt artistic license could find a selection of babes for walk-on parts while a young mixed race unknown actor plays a young mixed race unknown F1 driver who wins under adversity with the help of his proud father and then gets the girl. You've even got Johnny Foreigner Alonso to play the handsome but dastardly baddy.
Ben, London,
I.m spanish, F1 fan for over 30 years and I have to say that alonso and de la rosa would be fired not only from mclaren but from the championship
paco, madrid,
So, it's been Denis who told FIA about the e-mails. The same Ron Denis who has part in the Hamilton's earnings. So I'm suposed to beleve what this impartial guy may say.
Have a nice day and another 8 balnk years.
jose, Gijón, Spain
I cannot remember any Mclaren win last season without Alonso. I cannot remember any Renault win without Alonso this season. Just a coincidence... I guess.
Sergio, San Francisco,
People who have taken the time to read this story "care".
If you don't care, don't read - go back to your knitting, or whatever.
Simon, Meppershall, Bedfordshire
Fernando Alonso is actualy the Champion of F1. So Alonso is the number 1 in the team and everybody have to work for him.
Hamilton is a beginner and if he has a good car it's because Alonso and De La Rosa know all about F1 cars.
All of you must shut up!!! Alonso will be champions another time
Raul, Barcelona, Spain
Hey Trevor, you do realise what banishment from the sport for McLaren and their drivers 'for a couple of seasons' would do to Formula One as a whole?
The sport would be a laughing stock across the world.. Ferrari would completely dominate everything.. the Lewis Hamilton hype over here would die losing F1 it's huge gain in popularity experienced over the last few months.. it's popularity would die in Spain..
The FIA made the right choice in the end. Now it's up to McLaren to punish certain individuals sufficiently for their role in this whole affair- maybe allowing Gary Paffett to drive in Japan..?
Jim, Gloucestershire,
Everybody knows that Alonso is the best driver. Last year Mc Laren wasn´t fast enough. Dennis brought Alonso to make a winner car, and to teach Little Daddy´s boy driving. But Fernando isn´t english. That is his fault. F1 is a british circus that needs a briton to win. You´ll need even more cheatings to steal the championship from Alonso. Remember the Hungary´s 5 points stolen from Fernando. Remember the english team puting used tyres in Alonso´s Car for the decisive qualifying lap in Hungary. Remember the crane saving Dennis´ son. Remember Lewis skiping the chicane last sunday. Everything is allowed for daddy´s son, even Mansur daughter. OK, but remember, you´will need to do more cheatings to beat Fernando.
Dennis don´t cry as you see the spaniard winning again!
Creep boy, don´t swear at dad as Fernando overtake you!
Don´t worry, britons, the whole world know that your role in sports is to invent them, not to win. Good luck for Wimbeldon.
Tron Madrid, Madrid, Spain
Alonso will win this championship, SURE, hamilton has to learn, he is very lucky to have alonso in his team
Vamos Fernando!!!!!!!!
Fernando, Blanes,
Alonso should have stayed with Reanult and not joined the british team.
He is the champion and he is not treated as this in the british team.
Alonso is the best and I hope he goes with a team that treats him as he is.
Pino, Los Barrios, Cadiz, Andalucia, Spain
If Mclaren are cheaters and get what they deserve dont blame the best pal ever have in that "team", dont worry in Britain have a good tabloids: The Times, The Indepedent, The Guardian,.., they will say the truth about all this affair and others, telling you that all this countries near Africa: Spain, Portugal,.., are doing all in the wrong way.
But, the main problem of British people is the language, you only learn one, the english, and you all are not able to read the newspaper all around the world to learn more.
You come to this countries near Africa and never learn nothing about this countries and his people, you did the same in the past all over the world, North America, Australia, Philipines, Thailand,.., keep passing throught the world and be happy to do it.
Jesús, Madrid, Near Africa
Pity you don´t get Niki Lauda´s comments on all this. We do in Germany.
As opposed to journalists, who at least try to peddle this as something that has never happened before in motor racing (not just Formula1), he keeps saying that there have always been drivers like these. Ron Dennis also mentioned that what Alonso told him during that meeting at the Humgaroring is by far not the worst he´s heard from one of his drivers.
Although the order in the veredict is misleading, I agree with Nikki Lauda that the deciding factor was: At the first hearing Ron Dennis stated that the information was limited to a single, rouge employee of his and wasn´t systematic. In the second hearing, after Italian police had told the FIA that over 300 SMS and phone calls had been exchanged between Stepney and Coughlan, he still maintained that position. As McLaren´s CEO, he should have found out before the 2nd hearing. He is responsible for the actions of _all_ his employees.
Weird Spaniard, Braunschweig, Germany
End of the road at Mclaren for Alonso? Good for him, that team stinks...
jose, london,
Alonso, let the truth be known. If the entire truth has not been disclosed then clear your conscience.
Andy, Melbourne,
I'm a F1 fan for more than 10 years, and sincerely I couldn't believe when in Spain it is said that in the UK the news and the comments are as fanatic as here with Fernando, and reading the comments posted here, as for example Mr. Nick Stroud has, for sure I am thrilled. What has happened this afternoon is everything except between the limits of fair play and polite, seems like Ron Dennis have to have something to explain the 100M ⬠fine. And watch out, I am talking from a point of view outside the fanatism or admiration, which I have for Fernando.
David A., Mieres,ASTURIAS, SPAIN
McLaren, now renamed McCheatin', might be the best car around, incorporating as it does the best of McLaren and Ferrari. 800 well-documented sheets , elaborately and patiently explained on more than 300 phone-calls and emails from the Ferrari chief engineer (knighthood to come as rumoured about "Russian" arch criminals?) , tells us a lot about McLaren's amazing R&D department. But it's not all plain-sailing. Bernie might have saved them for the moment. (Bernie's action in not penalising McLaren's
drivers but punishing the company is akin to punishing one's coach but not the athlete who took illegal performance-enhancing drugs) McLaren's "positive discrimination" towards Hamilton is, of course, not appreciated by Alonso. We know that Hamilton's "patron" wants him to win at all costs, in spite of his own tarnished reputation. So because of human frailty the McLaren Ferrari might yet come up second.
Mario, Malta and London, United Kingdom
1. the situation was caused by Ferrari personnel releasing data to a McLaren man. Why is Ferrari free of blame? They are no less guilty of failing to control the activities of their employees than McLaren! 2. Banning the team but not the drivers is a fudge that is irrational. If the team has benefited then so have the drivers. If the drivers have NOT benefited then how has the team? 3. Does anyone like Alonso? Is he getting a bad press because the press is so keen on Hamilton? If he believes he is the best driver on the team, why not just win the championship? Why does he need an advantage???
vince, chelmsford, UK
Cheating is still a cheating in which ever way. Dennis himself should be punished for Mclarens wrong doing. FIA generous enough for not banning the team immediately. I believed Ferrari spent a lot for their researched and should be protected. For Lewis, I feel sorry for you even though you are not directly involve in this case, but still you are in it. For Alonso, winning alone is not enough, honesty is the best policy. If you think you should leave the team, do it.
Mohamad Rusli, Seremban, Malaysia.
alonso should be thrown out the team.
i kandeya, london,
fire the "two guys from Spain" immediately ... right after fining them enough to pay the fine.
keno, Toronto,
I can see Ron handing out some termination notices over the next couple of months. If Pedro de la Rosa goes, expect Alonso to follow, they both shared this information. I can see a few engineers going soon too. I still believe Ron acted in good faith. Remember it was Ron who went to the FIA, which cost him $100 mill, because he wasn't going to be blackmailed by Alonso. Those are strong principles.
Joal Delm and Mario, If you really don't care, don't post guys!
There's plenty of other pages on the web to post your indifference.
Neil, Newcastle, U.K.
I think now that McLaren have been punished they'll decide on how to deal with Alonso. Wouldn't be a surprise is after this weekend or before the next race, McLaren will announce that Alonso will sit out the rest of the season
jerry, dublin, ireland
"Fernando Alonsoâs future at McLaren Mercedes is in doubt after allegations that he threatened to tell the FIA, the governing body of motor sport, about Ferrari secrets on his computer unless he was confirmed as the teamâs No 1 driver."
That's what Mr. Bernie Ecclestone said.
And Bernie Ecclestone is an honorable man.
We all know it.
Andrea, Rome, Italy
Who is Bernie trying to fool? Imagine the adverse financial impact on the Formula One brand if McLaren were excluded from the World Championship for two years.

You are right Tim, but.... if you do not have neither a winner driver nor money....what do you do? Just what McLaren did the last 8 years: nothing.
Angel, Logroño, Spain
Alonso's reputation takes a knock for that attempted blackmail (a criminal offense actual)
Dennis - Bigger knock, what this blackmail story tells us is Ron knew about the information flow or else the emails wouldnt have been much leverage would they (Ron, make me number 1 or I will tell the FIA I'm a cheat) ...sorry, I dont think it works that way.
Verbal, Midlands, Uk
Does anybody believe Hamilton did not knew about all the story?
Harum, Limerick,
I love the way your rage is lit. It's a pleasure. Another Spanish guy kicks you in the teeth. OK, fire him, play this smart game of winning a championship with this fairless play.
History of F1 is dirty now. Thank you Mclaren. Viva Fernando.
Enric, Barcelona,
Who actually gets the fine?
Peter, Paris,
Alonso should have been punished for his complicity in the Ferrari secrets scandal.
Matt N, Oxford , UK
Soap opera here as well. How 'bout simply race cars ?
Jojje, Stockholm, Sweden
It looks as if Alfonso was one of the really guilty parties in this 'spy gate'. It's easy to check whether Ron Dennis informed the FIA, if he did then that should have been acknowledged by the FIA. He should have immediatley expelled Alfonso from the team. As for Ecclestone I don't think he's in any position to comment on Ron Dennis or the McClaren team , all he's ever done for the sport is milk it for all its worth.
Richard, Portsmouth, UK
Never did like Alonso. Reminded me of the kid at school that could only perform if people constantly blew sunshine up his backside. I think he needs to grow up and learn a few lessons from previos world champions.
Jeanne, Milton Keynes, Bucks
If Ferrari uses something new, invented by them, and McLaren uses also the new invention, why Ferrari loses the race? Because McLaren has better pilots? Should not all pilots had the same opportunities? Ferrari knows they will never win another Championship while Alonso is driving any other car. Oh!, Ferrari, Ferrari. Long, very long is the hand who moves your cars. And Black.
Verisimo Vizoso Feijoo, Marbella, Spain
Considering Ferrari's performance this season I'd have paid McLaren to use them, might have a chance then.
Joking aside, something strange is going on within the team and it's worrying...
Willian, Biggleswade, Bedfordshire
If you thought that Montoya was trouble, how do you like the beauty of Alonso?
Please Juan Pablo, come back..! Sincerely, Ron Dennis

This has got out of hand.
Why should we believe Dennis? if he knew about the whole affair he should have done something about it before. If Hamilton and Alonso were sharing the same information in their cars, then Hamilton should be blamed as well as Alonso as he had the same advanages, if there were any.
and anyway Ferrari have broken the rules so many times in the past that who cares about what they think
The whole thing doesn' t make any sense. it is a pity.
Len, Aviles, Spain
Is all of this tamasha not proof that F1 needs to be abolished, and for only TRUE amateurs to be involved in future?
David Michael, London, UK
Mclaren or any other team for that matter would be failing in their duty if they would not try to get their opponent's secrets. This is a very competitive sport with lots of money and prestige at stake.
Adrian, London , uk
It is a nonsense that McLaren's drivers did not have their points removed as well. However that would have been a monumental own goal by the FIA . If the FIA believe that McLaren were attempting to cheat by using the intellectual property of Ferrari, then the governing body surely cannot discriminate. The WHOLE team should be penalised including the drivers.
I have only taken an interest in this seasons championship because of Lewis Hamilton's incredible debut into F1.
Normally the qualifying is more exciting than the actual race, as finishing postions rarely change much.
How ridiculous that drivers win or lose races not on the track but in the pits, because a refueling hose gets stuck or a wheel nut is difficult to move. Why is it that motorbikes can get through a race on one tank of fuel and without changing tyres?
This whole affair with McLaren and the absurd fine, is just aanother nail in F1's coffin
Kevin, Willencourt, France
just one consideration: there are two championships, one is for the pilots, one for the "constructors".But the pilots are racing with cars.Namely, Alonso and Hamilton with McLaren Mercedes. If this sentence tells to the world, in spite of what pinocchio Dennis officially declares, that McLaren has used illegally acquired secret design details from Ferrari to gain an unfair advantage over all the competitors (because, folks, let's not " hide behind a finger", this is what they say, pls keep it in mind), why wouldn't the sentence hit the pilots as well??With what did they race?I didn't see any of them running on their feet to get to the chess flag..so they won because they had an unfair techincal advantage over the others, right?I know,I know, politics has become the art of making the unbelieveable acceptable and normal..it's just so sad to see what could be a wanderful expression of technical and sportive skills, becoming just a big boring soap opera..yes,"the Circus" is full of clowns..
Luca, Amsterdam,
Pleas dont read only english news, and look for what Max Mosley has said. Really, before these F1 world champion, I had a better opinion about Ron Dennis.
Tipi, Berlin, Germany
The whole episode is farcical!
The drivers should also be banned!
But then no one would watch F1.
Regardless even if a Mclaren driver won it will be a hollow victory!
The 100 million fine is also a joke, are they going to fine toro rosso for using ferrari parts - Hello the FIA is a croc.
This is all about entertainment, the big boys try and pretend that it's all business - but now that the corporate hospitality is under threat they make the right decision.
The upshot - Fernando Alonso is a Loser!! The emails show that he is not a better driver than LH but in fact has been in collusion with De la rosa to gain the upper hand all season, with this added info the FIA know they're in for a storming 2008, whichever way the whole sorry mess goes.
Tunde, London, Uk
just what do Alonso and Hamilton think they are doing out on the race course? Get off!
whit, washington, dc
Are talking about the tour of France? This cant´t be F-1. And yes... Alonso should be thrown out of Mclaren and bring Montoya back. At least he is not a sneak..

Ferrari is the strongest team in Formula1! The only possibility for McLaren to become competitive was to fully copy Ferrari's technical solutions.

I am a McLaren supporter and believe that the ruiling was too harsh...had it been Ferrari something tells me that they would have been giving a slap on the wrist and that would have been the end of it! That being said, my advice to Ron Dennis is to fire Alonso at the end of this weekend! They guy has behaived like a spoilt brat and has brought the team into constant disripute all season...they are better off without....let him go back to Renault, if of course they would have him after all of this!!
Nick Stroud, London,
Still lost, what has happen to Spyker, with regard to them having a full set of drawings, based around RedBull?
Or maybe go back to 2002 and ask a few teams a question or two, failing that lets get back to early 1990 when you if you beged borrow or stealed, it was considered fair game!
Oh and finally who pushed through Mr Mosleys Jet?
M, Manama, Bahrain
Ideally, the drivers championship will come down to the last race of the season, between Hamilton and Alonso, and Mclaren will pull Alonso, and put someone else in for the last race, thus spoiling the whole season for Alonso. Serves him right I say.
Arthur, Newcastle,
Is the word "Hamilton" censored in the UK when talking about this scandal?

as a point of logic, if Ferrari's tech was so much better than McClaren, why were McClaren cars winning so much more often? it doesn't seem to make sense

Formula 1?
Who cares?
Even cricket between Holland and Belgium is less "boooooring".

Are we supposed to believe that Dennis informed the FIA about new evidence linking his team to the spy story 1 in order not to be blackmailed any longer by Alonso? 2 out of his sence of justice? 3...because he new he would get away with it (thanks Bernie), 4 The evidence would have come out anyway and then not even God himself (hello Bernie) would have saved the British team. Yes the British team.

With the emails in hand now from Alonso and DelaRosa, how can anyone say that the drivers were not involved in the Mclaren cheating?
Likewise, how is it possible that Mclaren were not banned for a sufficient amount of time to ensure the stolen information will not be used against Ferrari (i.e. banishment for a couple of seasons) ?
With the drivers getting off scot-free, and Mclaren in practice banned for only a few weeks, how can anyone say FIA are not being EXTREMELY GENEROUS towards Mclaren?
