Fernando Alonso has launched another critical attack on McLaren after missing out on a third consecutive Formula One world title.
In a dramatic conclusion to the season, Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen won the championship by a point from Lewis Hamilton and Alonso at Sunday’s Brazilian Grand Prix.
In the immediate aftermath the 26-year-old offered a reasonably considered view on his season in which he has often been at war with boss Ron Dennis and Hamilton.
But speaking on Spanish radio today, Alonso could not hide his true feelings, and rounded on the team again for their failure to support him.

“McLaren got it wrong. They lost the championship for the mistaken decisions they made in the second part of the season,” he said. “It isn’t a secret that they haven’t helped me much, and it wasn’t a well-organised season from the point of view of the management.
“There was no sensation of being a team and the result speaks for itself. Each person will have to draw their own lessons from this season, but if we had taken a different approach we would have obtained different results.”
Alonso is again referring to the fact he should have been made number one driver above Hamilton.
On the morning of the Hungarian Grand Prix he threatened Dennis with divulging the contents of his email inbox to the FIA in relation to the spy saga unless he was granted number one status.
It resulted in a furious row between Alonso and Dennis, with the latter conceding at the hearing of the spy case towards the end of last month they were no longer on speaking terms.
Dennis then stated after the Chinese Grand Prix a fortnight ago in which Hamilton slid into gravel on severely-worn tyres that the team were not competing against Raikkonen, but against Alonso.
“What the boss said after China about the team racing against me and not Kimi was a clear declaration of intentions,” he said. “In the last few races my hands and feet were tied. I had no power to make decisions. I had to race as they told me.
“McLaren lost and Ferrari did a better job than anyone else.”
Dennis has revealed that confirmation of his driver line-up will be confirmed within the next two weeks, and not for the first time Alonso appears to have burned his bridges. His only escape route appears to be a return to Renault, who made him champion in 2005 and 2006.
However, Alonso added: “The only reality is I’m under contract to McLaren. I know there are a lot of rumours, but I haven’t spoken to another team, and that’s the reality.”
Surprisingly, asked as to whether Renault would be his number one option should he leave McLaren, he replied: “No. Right now I’d say no.”
It' only entertainment, not important in the scheme of things, so who cares. I used to watch formula one and premiership football, but why bother, when the outcome is financially dependant. Three or four teams in both sports, have sufficient finances to overwhelm everyone else, to me thats not entertainment. The infighting in both sports between the top teams is thus inevitable. True competition can only be acheived by having financial parity. Example NFL and Nascar. The latter may be cars going round and round in circles, but at least the outcome is not based on starting grid position and "passing" on the track is at least possible.
Given the skill level of the drivers, it is obvious the driver at this level is almost inconsequential (look at the results), its the car. Why most teams run I do not Know, the same in the premiership.
Keith, Hammond,
Why should McLaren have had to "prove" that the fuel was chilled on entering the Williams and BMW fuel tanks? Ferrari didn't need to prove that their drawings were used by McLaren or that their setup info went beyond Alonso and delaRosa, both of whom were legally "indepedent contractors" and not even employees of McLaren. All Ferrari had to do was make a suggestion and poof - like magic, they were handed the team title. Now -also like magic - they are handed the drivers title too. Perhaps since the races are now so boring, Bernie wants to stoke nationalistic fervor by allowing McLaren to be cheated time after time and by having Alonso get a bit of a tough go with his Hungary penalty?
Bob Williams, NYC, USA
Hamilton is a good driver, but not that super extraordinary like some people say, F1 gave him a lot of help, things that he did would cause a black flag or to go back in grid start or pitlane, like happens to Massa, Alonso, Schumacher (2006). But everything he did was not seen that way by the officials. Got a lot of help from outside the tracks. And in Spy scandal they (McLaren) better say thanks that their pilot didn´t get rip all their drivers points.
Furthermore, Massa and Kimi with all car problems, black flags, pit lane start, move back in the grid with all this they were in the fight for title. (well Kimi won) but Massa get 94 points considering all his problems.
Ricardo, panama, panama
hamilton can´t win this year!!!! because he isn´t a good rider and the real winner this year is alonso because he has had a bad year with the team and he has been there bust now kimi has won he has been clever and he has won the championship and if hamilton win like alonso said last year i would think that this sport is only money and the people whose ride are champion or not because FIA want to
hamilton will never win!!!!!!

...no jonny foreigner....you still don't get it....if you were familiar with English history and their character...you would understand...that deep down Ron is very proud. He offered both drivers an equal opportunity to win....and because of that, McLaren lost the title.
I suspect McLaren would rather be true to their principles and lose....than do a Ferrari and win......You have to admire the sheer bloody mindedness of it. It is quintessentially ...Cricket.
Simon, Carrick, Antrim
Maybe Fernando Alonso should go to a Spaneesh Formula one team with Spaneesh engineers & mechanics & just see how far & fast he goes. It would be the Ideal way to prove to the world that they can do it all on their own ,that way there will be no whining about it being some foreigners fault when all fails, but curiously enough when he won the other titles there was absolutely no mention in the press of the rest of the team that made it possible for him (or where they were from for that matter!)
Mike Burkinshaw, Vilagarcia de Arousa, Galicia/Spain
Very difficult to understand how McLaren is punished and Ferrari gets off scot free in the "spy" case. It would seem that if the Ferrari employee "gave" the information to the McLaren employee why is it that only the receiver of the information is guilty. The whole issue would never come to light if Ferrari's man had not conspired with McLaren's man in the first place, they are both, all, guilty then. There is never one side to any story. Punishement should have been equal for all parties to the case. This further enforces the impression that the FIA really does and has favored Ferrari now and in the past. Could Ferrari be cupable in that did they "direct" their man to give up the information so that they could get the FIA to bring a case against McLaren? Anything is possible. Just had to vent. Thank you
David, Highlands Ranch, USA Colorado
The FIA should have taken drivers points away as well as constructors or at least imposed a point fine. There does very much seem to have been a lack of punishment for errors / unsportsmanlike behavior from Lewis that other drives simply have not got away with previously. As a long term fan it's sad to see the rules being applied differently across the drivers.
Still despite what seems like obvious manipulation by the FIA Kimi has done a brilliant job in bringing home the title. Hamilton has only himself to blame for failing with all the extra chances he has been given this year he only need to finish the last two races with points to win. Instead he bottles it and throws away the last two races of the year, gear box problems may well have started with that trip off the road!
Lets home for a clean fair season next year so that all the drivers can get on with trying to win on the track!
Iain, Cambridge, England
How could the english press fail to see such a mistake as questionning Alonso's leadership in the team? Now he'll leave and beat McLaren as he did in 2005. Has Mr Dennis been able yet to swallow that 2oo5's defeat? Well, take it easy, there are still a few to come. FORÃA ALONSO!
JUAN ALBERTO GABRIEL, Barcelona, Spain
Congratulations kimi!!!!
Alonso..you are the best!!!
Todos contigo!!!!!

Both Ron Dennis and Haug Norbert should get fired now. They did a pathetic job with the team management.
Lewis Hamilton willl be nick named "Lewis THE ROOKIE" for the rest of his career. His father must be proud...
Paul, Florida, USA
Now Ron Dennis has now what he deserves : the worst of the defeats, and all he can blame is himself and his decisions. FA has spoken a lot, but we all know there is some true behind all what he said, despite he talks too much sometimes. Afaires like hungary show cant happen in a F1 team, that was pathetic and even the smallest team in racing competition would not allow that to any pilot.
I seriuosly doubt now if LW will ever have again a chance like this to win a championship, and I also think this will have a huge negative impact in his career .
Jhon, San Francisco, California
It seems that Britain so desires to have a new champion that they'll stop at nothing to try to make Hamilton into a new Schumacher. Hamilton is a good pilot but as yet he is lacking what is needed to become a world champion, if he ever gets to have it. Dennis has made a crucial mistake favoring him over a double world champion and this is his reward. Trying to win the championship off the track is but pathethic. After his eighth consecutive empty season I think Dennis should resign.
Alexis, madrid, Spain
What a shame if Hamilton becomes world champion by deciding in a office what was lost in the track. Remember he would have never made it to the 5th place, no matter the fuel in other drivers' cars. Ron Dennis is desperately looking for a victory he threw away with a string of calamitous decisions all through the season, starting with his bet for a rookie (unable to handle pressure when needed), following with the shaming of his champion after the spy scandal, and finally admitting that the driver to beat was not Kimi, but Alonso. Reality has proved quite different. Dennis brought defeat on his team and on himself. He should resign and let Kimi rule at once.
L. Law, Brussels,
This is what happens when you place a manchurian candidate into an F1 car.
Oh and btw, 'we weren't racing Kimi, we were racing Fernando'. Congrats then, you even managed to LOSE the points score advantadge you had !
And please, stop trying to sell us all more failed heroes like Cpt. Scott or Mallory !
There's no such thing as a non-guilt here, but in the end, that one having his mouth shut most of the time ended taking the WC home. A valuable lesson for next year, for those who'd like to learn something, of course.
I'm looking forward to that new championship driven by the team consortium, meanwhile, well, there is motoGP.
All in all, were RD a normal boss subject to supervision by his CEO in any business out there, he should be by now fitting his office belongings in a box.
taffer, bcn,
The problem is the drivers championship is now a farce. If Raikkonen keeps it, it's because BMW and Williams haven't been punished for breaking the rules. If Hamilton wins it, it's by default.
I don't think either want to win like this - they haven't been able to win the championship under fair terms.
The very reason the low temperature was picked up was because of the measures in place to ensure fuel temperatures are correct. What is the point of these measures, if offending teams aren't punished for this? The stewards excuse is it can't be proved, so just what is the point of regulating fuel temperatures if the detection systems used don't quantify as proof?
Matthew Jones, Shrewsbury, UK
First the spy story, now this appeal.
When have the English become such unfair in sport?
If the italian team had done the same thing everybody would have used the word "mafia" but since it's an english team to behave like that, we can only say "BAD LOSERS".
It sound a little be racist, isn't it?
Sara, here and there,
I think LH had a rush of blood to the head when he saw FA overtake him after losing 2nd place to KR. All LH had to do was manage a 4th position behind FA.
As I see it, winning the World Championship was far more important than a testostrone duel. This last race was one where he had to use restraint as opposed to brawn-too much was at stake.
LH will be advised to heed this in the ensuing duels he has in F1, more so as he is not liked by most pilots-be that for envy, prejudice or whatever is irrelevant.
Should one have to delve deeper then one may apportion partial blame for the LH failure to the lackadaisical management of the 12 points lead by team Maclaren with 2 GPs to go.There was also the over over estimation as to LH`s capabilities and his mental meltdown.
That said, I believe LH has had a spectacular season and can only get better.

Regardless of the technicalities of the rules, what McLaren are doing is totally unsporting.
Hamilton and McLaren were found guilty of using too many tyres earlier in the weekend - precedent says that they should lose grid places. However, no penalty was imposed, obviously because the FiA did not want to affect the championship battle. Ferrari didn't appeal even though they had grounds to.
Now that an anomoly has been discovered, nobody i.e. the fans nor the FiA, want the result to be affected, yet McLaren intend to appeal. This is totally unsporting.
Tell me, who has any respect left for Ron Dennis and McLaren?
Chris, London,
Congratulations to Kimi. It is clear to me that Ron Denis got it all wrong from the start he gets Alonso from Renault and pays him all that money for what? He uses him to better the car and then what? To make Lewis Hamilton his number one an Alonso his number two, i don't believe all this equality crap talk.
Lewis is a brilliant driver not doubt about that but he is just a kid, Ron should have placed him in a lower team to learn the ropes, just like Briatore did to Alonso when he got to Renault, he loaned him to Minardi and then when he was happy that he was ready he brought him back to be a WDC. Ron has ruined Lewis just like he has ruined Alonso and Also Montoya and Kimi at that. And the fact is that at the end of thye day he has nothing to show for.
Lets hope next year is a better one.
F1 supporters deserve better.
James, Croydon, Surrey
Just incredible. Do you really want to win this way? How would you feel English if you were Raikkonen fans? You cheated for an entire season and you didn't win. I think it's time to stop. Hamilton is a great pilot and I'm sure he will win the World Champioship many times, but you just have to wait one or two years. Please don't destroy this sport and don't destroy the Finnish dream like you destroyed the Spanish one.
Thank you FIA and Dennis for that wonderful season!
Carlos, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain
Don't Mclaren guys feel shame of its driver, its Boss, and its behaviour after Kimi's clean victory? Stop looking for a championship that does not own you.

I'm a Spaniard, I've been following and watching F1 sin ce I was 11, and what has happened this year, at the end, I only can say justice has been made.
If we focus on the spy scandal, Ferrari should have won the WDC long time ago, just because McLaren drivers should have been out of it too.
If we focus on the real situation, we have to recognize the incredible and serious racing Hamilton have shown troughout all the season, but you'll have to recognize also Alonso has not only taken part in that success, if not being a key part on it,and I got to tell you, forget nationalisms, we are talking about racing, not about anything else.
You only argue the supossed blackmailing, the impossal of being number one in the team, but you forget the Englisman protesting in Hungary for a thing the team made, and he provoked, you forget such a bunch of things that reading the most part of things posted here does not worth it.
I encourage Hamilton to be patient, he'll have his opportunity.
David del Prado, Mieres/Asturias, Spain
Alonso and Hamilton kept their point when Mclaren was found guilty of having stolen secret information from Ferrari even if they should have been disqualified from the rest of the season. After all they âusedâ those information to get championship points simply by driving their carsâ¦but obviously thatâd have been unfair. The same logic applies here: I donât know if BMW and Sauber broke the rules but if they did itâs right to get points off their constructors championship without touching the driversâone . Raikkonen won on the track and after 17 races he managed to get one point more than Alonso and Hamilton. Thatâs all, heâs the worthy word champion, thereâs nothing more to add but, as someone has already said, there is no-one so blind as those who do not want too see.
Giovanni, Palermo, Italy
I think it'l all Dennis's fault, with his Hamilton obsession. He forgot how to run an F1 team. Congratulations Kimi.
Angel M. Lopez, Grado, Asturias, Spain
I really believe that Alonso deserved this championchip, sadly his team didn´t think the same, with a little suport Alonso it would b worldchaompion since one month ago.Somebody prefered to have nothing and bet for the modt difficult way.Just brithish.

What about the pole of Hamilton ? He was interfering in the fastest lap of Kimi.
You are a losers. Do not be so British and recognise your mistakes !!! You had the chance to win with the best (Fernando) and you missed its talent ......

ohh ....... unlucky lewis.....driving into gravel & filling your ventilation system with dirt & grass is not the way to win a F1 championship title.
The young lad just couldn´t take the pressure...he went after alonso like a raging bull when he was overtaken on the first curve and ruined his chances......clearly he lacks the experience and technical ability to be the nº1 and only time will tell if he is just another underachiever or if he can win titles when alonso and kimi both retire.
The opportunity he lost yesterday is gone forever he will never experience it again ... the time is not the future the time was there and then !!!!!!

Jajaja, rules are rules. And a champion can be so stupid?
The F1 is controlled by the British but they can´t laugh from the people of other countries if they want the F1 continue being an international competition. Never forget this!!!
Congratulation Kimi. They can steal the championship but this is not a problem all the fans to F1 knows that you are the champion.
Dimitry, Atenas, Greece
A great book was published in Britain years ago : Power without responsiblity, and once more the pressure of the British Media has shown its aftermaths, Mr. Hamilton , a broken puppet, Mclaren a beehave of hysteria and the British Press washing their hands like Pilate once did. Just have a look at the article " Lewis Hamilton, the new Henmann ?"
j, oviedo, spain
Espionage on Ferrari, sabotage on Alonso, terrible race management on Hamilton, the whole McLaren/Ron Dennis thing stinks to high heavens!.
Forza Ferrari.
Enrique, Barcelona,
This is a great idea!. I propose that next year they disqualify all drives but Hamilton. In this way, he will win, he will be happy, his dad will be happy, his other dad will be happy, Damon Hill will be happy, and and everybody in the UK will be happy.
We can do it also in the Olympics, the World Championship,etc... How come they didn´t think on this before, being so smart as they are??
Steven Haulvax, Indianapolis, USA
McLaren lost two World titles because it was mismanaged, Dennis, and you know it. Races are won at the track, not in offices.
Jorge, Madrid, Spain
As far as rules are concerned, maybe some of you forgot that McLaren lost the constructor Championship points for cheating, but they might lose even the points of their drivers and they didn't, against all evidence. Not to mention all the cases in which Hamilton did not get punished when anybody else would have: do you remember the way he drove behind the SC? Just reproached, as a bad boy. Do you remember the story about the tyres on last Friday? Again, just a fine, because it was considered a "honest mistake". No points deduction, no penalties in time for the following qualifications (as it happened instead to Ralf Schumacher some years ago for the same kind of problem). And now, how can Ron Dennis ask for a penalisation against drivers? If the same rules apply, only the teams should be punished and the drivers should keep their position at the arrival. Deep-down, was not that story of fuels a "honest mistake" like the one made by McLaren technicians on Friday?
Cheers

McLaren had the champioship in his hands. They had (at least) the best car and maybe the best drivers: Alonso, two times world champion, and Hamilton, sure the best rookie ever seen and, i'm sure too, one of the next F1 world champion.
But Dennis had a bad job. He's the only guilty of the disaster. Alonso could be the champion with the support of the team, but he had prefer only support the child Hamilton.
Poor Dennis, by, by, Dennis.
Welcome Kimi,
Aupa Fernando.
PKRain, BCN, Spain
Congratulations Kimi!
Alonso didn't deserve it... there is not a Spanish team to support him. But there isn't a Finn one either... or is there? Please, let us be serious... We couldn't manage to win. I don't know if you noticed, but we were in the same team.
Luis Abel, Valladolid, Spain
Remember this: Alonso is the youngest ever GP Winner (no, not Hamilton; Alonso was even younger when he first made it, and he didn't drive a McLaren). Alonso still is the youngest ever F1 World Champion and the youngest ever Double Champion.
Let's see what comes next. ¡Arriba Alonso!
Salatha, Oropesa (Toledo), Spain
It is pretty sad to see a team like McLaren searching for someone for whom to blame. The only reason why McLaren is not world champion is because Ron Dennis has not been able to manage the team in general, and the aspirations of both drivers in particular. With regard to the appeal, I think we have seen this season several times in which teams were pensalised (remember last friday's Lewis issue with the tyres?) and no drivers. McLaren should just admit they have lost the titles and congratulate Ferrari and Raikkonen. Like it or not, the truth is that Raikonnen has won six races and Hamilton and Alonso only four.
Ignacio Jiménez, Madrid, Spain
It's funny see how some people wrote that McLarent always received a bad call from the FIA but Ferrari didn't. Let me tell you that Hamilton saved more than ones this year and the only penalties were again Alonso. LH is a great driver, so is Kimi & Alonso, but the last two have an experience that this young guy (with approve of Ron and Daddy) just throw away. If Ron were used the same tactic than Ferrari used with Michel Schumacher, since one month ago Alonso would be called Champion with a Hamilton in a easy 2do place and Ferrari in 3rd and 4th place, a result that actually would save the year for Ron. To the Lewis's fanatics, please remember that your kid used (as he clearly said) the experience of FA to setup his car. FA won two championship beating a Ferrari with the best driver in the history (MS), and also help to McLarent to had a car this year that fought the full year in the top, not like the others pilots in the last 7 years. FA is not a nice guy, but is a great pilot.
Jose San Juan, Caracas, Venezuela
Kimi says justice has been done - justice should have been done by his disqualification in Australia for driving an illegal car run by the most unsporting team in F1 history. Go Ron ignore the detractors. Lewis deserves this championship.
Paul Whittlesea, London, England
to Steve from Preston, yes we do have Spanish Team cars, it is truth they are not in Formula 1 yet, 'cause not more spaces for 200 teams in Formula 1.We have not been long in Formula 1,but for sure you were not here from the beginning , are you a better supporter because you are British?I don't think so.About your friends Ron, Lewis ,we are not the only one to hate them,to Ron is popular with his friends, Jean Todt, Briatore, Moss ....
to Lewis the drivers love him, for this reason they are the first to complaint against him, at the moment I prefer to support Alonso, when he talks he say the truth and in your face, not lies and in your back, maybe that is the difference that you were looking for, we are honest and passionate about what we think, is not call Spaniards is call Español, and what your friend Lewis keeps saying is that he will come back stronger, is fine for me, I don't trust him ,he said so two weeks ago and look at him now, is nothing,no one, Alonso 2 world championship.
Fernando Gracian, bournemouth, dorset
Well, when you have a driver who won 2 years in a row Worldchampionship with a Renault car (suppously worse car than McLaren's) you should care about him.
In my opinion, McLaren decided to support Hamilton more than Alonso, and that was a mistake.
This scenario together with additional problems for Alonso like in Barcelona, Fuji, ... and suspicious penalties to Alonso... and not to Hamiltonin several times have been the reason for this final result.
Congratulations to Kimi!
and Congratulations to McLaren! You deserve it!
Luigi Velanto, Milan, Italy

Pasquale, Naples,
OK, Damon. Since sanctions were already applied to a cheating team this year (and it was McLaren, oh my!), let's use the same rules: no points to the teams, but drivers can keep theirs. How do you like it then? You cannot say it's unfair, since it was the same treatment Hamilton received, wasn't it? Or are rules only good if they benefit Hamilton? Cry me a river, Hill...
Congratulations to Kimi and the mighty Cavallino!

Unlike petrol stations fuel is measured by weight in F1. Power yield is measured in J/g (joules per gram). Density does not matter. Remember Honda concealed reservoir was discovered when weighing the car.
Ingmar, Malmoe, Sweden
Ron's management has been a real disaster: that's the truth. He had the best team, he had the world champion and he had the best rookie ever, but he's got nothing. Now, the former world champion is willing to leave the team, the best rookie has shown that he obviouslyt was a rookie, and besides Mac Laren has to pay 100 million dollars for spying a rival team. You've been checkmate, Ron, don't you realize? you simply have not been able to do your job professionally. Come on, wake up and do the only sensible thing you still can do: resign.
Luis, Seville, Spain
Fresh attack??
I doesnt happen to you to think that maybe Dennis promised him a number one status?
Let's imagine for a moment. I'm fine with Renault. To change team I really have to be motivated. Do you think that to move to a not really good performing team is a serious motiviation? Do you think he moved to McLaren because he would be number 2 to a rookie notwithstanding how brilliant Hamilton is?
Jacques, Nyon, Switzerland
Dennis: try in the playstation. Maybe there your Hamilton is world champion
Hamiltons dad: where were you? with the FIA officials?
Congratulations for Kimi, Ferrari and Alonso.
pepe, Zaragoza, Spain
Not much new here. Ron Dennis has always been very vocal when he thinks (rightly or wrongly) another team has done something wrong. Ferrari have always sailed close to the wind and, usually, got away with it.
I hope the appeal fails because it would be the worst possible way for Lewis to win the title and I hope he'd be man enough to hand the trophy back. Kimi totally deserves it due to his great driving at many races this year and his behaviour, far more professional than the McLaren duo.
I would have loved Lewis to take the title but I'll settle for Alonso NOT taking it! Hope it all settles down next year, everyone finds a home in a decent team, and the battles can take place where they belong - on the track.
Geoff, Croydon,
And exactly where was he wrong? It is quite clear that Hamilton was given a possition that he could not handle and that he has more than once done things no other driver would be allowed to. Alonso didn't make McLaren lose, Ron Dennis did.
Noe, Leeds, UK
Where was Hamilton`s dad yesterday? Where was Ronnie? Why TV don't showed us these pair of genius? Time gives everybody what deserves... I WANT THESE GUYS IN BIG BROTHER!

Mclaren team has made an absolute fool of itself. The fist one, his boss, our dear Ron.If he had given Alonso -not a preferental teatment that maybe he deserved- the same opportunities now mclaren would have won the championship and they would have saved their horrible year.If Dennis had given Alonso the same car that hamilton had, to run in brasil, although it wouldn´t be the best option for that team,at least now they would have won something. Now they haven´t got title.Because, don't forget that it was Alonso who retired Shumacher. perhaps you don´t like alonso but nobody should forget who is. He is the youngest driver to win a championship so no one can say he doesn´t worth it.i'm a f1 fan and i feel so sad due to this championship.i only expect that this lesson has been learnt by everybody specially by mclaren that had everything to win and now has to dream of winning this title in office.i agree with alonso,it would embarrasing.someone shoul apologize and it isn't alonso...
lucie, coventry,
Hamilton was brilliant... I enjoyed very much with his two lates races.... really amusing !!!
Lisa, Barcelona, Catalonia
Unforgetable and pathetic!!! We all have to congratulate RD for being the first F! manager in history to undermine the chances of 2 time World Champion in favour of an unexperienced (yet BRILLIANT) rookie and in addition to throw down the drain all the chances by a total lack of judgement!!!
Unbeatable!!!!
Peter, Barcelona, Spain
A rookie almost turned F1 on its head, and 'seasoned' drivers and teams couldn't stand it. For all those criticizing Lewis, he was but 1 point short of the championship. 1 point!!!!!!!!!. Say what you like, he is a brilliant driver. If he made mistakes, surely he can be forgiven this is his debut year.
Lewis, you are my hero.
Alonso, I was at first thrilled when you moved to Mclaren, but you have lost my respect.
Ron, you do not deserve all this negative criticism. Fight for your team.
To Kimi, Well done!
A true F1 fan
Veda McLaren, Allens Nek, South Africa
What Alonso fails to realise is that it was his behaviour that ostracised him from his team; not favouratism. It is the nature of group dynamics that people in that group will not act favourable to someone who acts negatively. Alonso lost his "No.1" status all by himself......
Also; if anything his tactic mentioned above, should have been afforded to Hamilton who led that championship all year...
Q-bert, London,
"Dennis then stated after the Chinese Grand Prix a fortnight ago in which Hamilton slid into gravel on severely-worn tyres that the team were not competing against Raikkonen, but against Alonso"
Did Dennis want equality for his drivers? I think that this words from Dennis demostrate what Alonso want to say about him and the team. They wanted a "british hero", they didn't mind what happen with the last year's championship. They used the talent of one driver (Alonso) to make win his overprotect child.
Alonso isn't sad because Kimi, he wanted to win, but the end has been a lesson for Dennis. With Alonso you can't play. If you want him, you have to give him freedom to do what they think is better to make win him, and to make win McLaren. Cry Dennis you're mistake. Here you have your Lewis. All for you. bye bye.
Now you want the Fia punish one insignificate think after all year of condescension to Lewis. take your own medicine.
Jorge, Barcelona, Espanya
alonso says there was no sensation of being a team and the results show this. however, mcclaren would have won the constructors' championship if they had been allowed to keep their points. and f1 is a constructors' championship.
what alonso means is that he, personally, was not promoted by the team as number one driver. which is an entirely different matter.
jem, london, uk
Lewis Hamilton lost the championship due to mechanical problems in the car. The winner was the one who got the most points , who happens to be Kimi. Both Hamilton and Alonso have acknowledged that, and Hamilton has quite
correctly commented to the press like a true sportsman, that he is not happy with a championship handed over to him.
So this appeal sounds more like sour grapes.
It is not a good scenario for the sport, and not fair for the fans
of formula one.(supporters of the F1).

McLaren protesting about three other cars having a fuel disprepancy of 3-4degC, while they were effectively driving Ferrari cars the whole year. PLEASE - give me a break!! If that isn't the pot calling the kettle black, I don't know what is.
Secondly, on the Damon Hill issue of one set of rules for Ferrari's, then what about the super duper special rules for Goldenboy Lewis. After yesterday's race I thought that there was no way that the FIA could rig something to ensure their boy won...I guess I was wrong.
So now, why don't we just give the championship to Lewis and while we are at it, why not also next years and the year after that and so on?
This is a disgrace! McLaren and Ron Dennis should do what they say (I belive Dennis said after the race 'We have to be sporting').
Well done Kimi - as Alonso agrees, you were the most deserving!
Sam, London, UK
This year Kimi has won and even if I am Spaniard, I have to admit that I am happy.
Neither Hamilton, nor Alonso and of course not McLaren have deserved the title. The spectacle has been grotesque and sympathetic...
Now this...Ron Dennis, Whitmarsh and Haugh should admit that they have not managed the situation....Stop making the ridiculous thing and cheer the champion....KIMI.

The Ultimate Irony
Constructor's Championship
Ferrari...110+94 = 204 points
McLaren...109+109 -15 (Hungary. Thanks, Lewis) = 203 points
and Ferrari win. Game over.
I love the poetic justice.
J.Trucupey, Madrid, Spain
Mark hat you say about kimmi, Massa and Alonso getting togeteher to teh conclusion to bother Hamilton at the start is just ridiculous. Of course Rainkkonen and Alonso were going to be aggresive and tried to pass him at the start. They did'n need to talk about it with anyone. They just needed to pass Hamilton. Hamilton let it so easy though. He left a huge open space to Rainkkonen and when he realized Fernando was on teh other site. Hamilton is has been the whole season racing Alonso so even when he would have been championship being Alonso 3rd and Hamilton 4th, he didn't want to finish the championship behind Alonso in the last race. He is too proud for that.
remember Mc Laren and Hamilton weren't racing Raikkonen, they were racing Alonso, so that was the huge mistake of Mc Laren and Hamilton.
As ayone said, why doesn't Mc Larent apeal against Ferrari for letting Raikkonen finish first. Because if they do Alnso would be champion, and any British want that, right?
Claire, Paris,
I'm just wondering why FIA rules are so ambiguous. But, despite of this, I think that McLaren would do better accepting the defeat. Ferrari, for example, didn't complain against Hamilton in qualifying, when he probably spoiled Raikkonen's fastest lap. I think that Hamilton is receiving to many gifts from the FIA and that's not good for his image. He should be treated as any other pilot, but this season it hasn't happened.
Manuel, Madrid, Spain
Actually, McLaren had a clear opinion on the appeals business earlier on.
In his plea before the WMSC, arguing for Hamilton to keep his points, McLarens' own drivers' counsel stated:
[ "...the world wants to see the worlds' top drivers competing on-track for the World Championship. They do not want to see it decided by lawyers. We respectfully invite you to leave the World Championship alone." ]
Well said. It is now time for Team McLaren to apply these high ethical standards to themselves.
This year's championship was won by the driver with the most wins, the most points and most of the fastest laps. Simple enough. Go Kimi! Lewis need not worry either, finishing 2:nd as a rookie is sensational.
Ron Dennis clearly needs to spend less time with his lawyers, as do the folks in Maranello. Why don't you all go yachting for a while, it's still warm in the Med and things will start looking better.
Daniel, Rosala, Finland
the war didnt start because of alonso , dont forget that was hamilton ahd his father who denunced his own team to the fia. Everyone has sow what brilliant driver hamilton is, he lost the title in the last two races, he was egoist. and his behaviour was what he really is.. a rokie.. The difference between Alonso and Hamilton is that Alonso apart from being a wonderful driver has the experience of a twice world champion, tHta is the reality and i am sure that Alonso wouldnt have lost the championship as he demostreated in the past two year having in front kimi and schumi.Alonso having everything against him has finished with the same points than hamilton, who had the help of Denis, , maclaren team and Fia. Alonso deserves a team who really want to win a first class team and maclaren has demostrated that is a medium team. lets sea next year hamilton making all set up to the car..will enjoy it..Congratulations to kimi, he won in the races not in fia offices
itziar, salou, tarragona
And what is up with that front wing of McLaren? Why is that legal and Ferrari's movable floor not? Ferrari kept pace with a McLaren with a moveable aero device.
Terry, Chandler, USA
Legal rambles should be discouraged in F1, and the FIA should employ lawyers rather than Max Mosely. As for Lewis, I think Mclaren are exploring every possibility for him to win the championship, despite the futility of such an appeal. Had they not defended his corner, Lewis may well be tempted to try his championship hopes with Ferrari's forthcoming offers, if he has not recieved them already... as for Alonso, I think Barcelona Car Hire are recruiting :)
Sonny, London, UK
"Wrong temperature of fuel" sounds as desperate as British Rail's "wrong type of snow" or "wrong type of leaves". In their "drivers' best interests", Mclaren should give up gracefully before bringing their so-called "sport" into even more disrepute.
Bill Peter, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
LH has really impressed me. I didn't expect such an excellent season for a rookie. Unfortunately, this has been his handicap: HE IS UNEXPERIENCED as a F1 driver. My view is that, unexpectedly, LH found himself a few points ahead of the rest in the middle of the season, thanks to his great skills, but also to FA's lack of fortune in certain races and to Ferrari's mechanical problems.
If you sign the former 2-time WDC and you are paying him A LOT, I don't really see the point on not considering him as the team's first chance to win the WDC just because he is some points behind a rookie; a very good one, but still an unexperienced F1 pilot (after watching LH's last two races, it's not hard to imagine why no rookie has ever win the WDC). The result: A waste of money for Mclaren; a waste of time for FA and a poor rookie experience for LH.
Of course, since I'm Spanish (scientifically proven as no F1 fans) my comments are "second class" comments and should not be taken into consideration.
Miguel, Barcelona, Spain
Kimi was the best winner for F1 in 2007. Because the 2008 season will possibly be the most competitive F1 Championship ever - one of the most followed as a result of all the bollocks stirred up this season ! LH will prevail in one of the next few years and despite all the nationalistic stuff on this forum and elsewhere he is an amazing driver. He proved to be the pace setter of the season, taking on the world champion in a virtually identical car and beating him ! McLaren are not stupid - why would they pay FA so much and then relegate him to 2nd driver if he had been on the pace at the right time ? He was not 'there' for much of the season and then threatened the team with ..... well can you imagine anyone threatening ANY other team boss and being flavour of the month for very long ? Something about being in a hole and carrying on digging springs to mind !!! Forget about the nationalistic crap this is business, and there are few loyalties based there.
Blaze 720, Newbury, Berks, UK
"Ferrari won the very first race using a device which was later found to be illegal by the FIA." Was it? Todt stated that the cars were legal. I never heard much about this. Was it that Ferrari had found a loop hole and the FIA plugged it or ?
Terry, Chandler, USA
To Steve, from Preston : "Spain a Country that had no real interest in Formula one until a few years ago! Now look at them the authoratitive voice on anything on four wheels! "
I assume that if you say that is because you live in Spain or, at least, know a lot of Spain. Otherwise, your comments on the interests of the Spanish people are as valid as mine regarding the architecture of Burkina-Faso.
How come that F.Alonso becama a F1 driver if nobody is interested in F1 in Spain? (by the way, Ferrari's and Mclaren's test drivers are also Spanish...)
People has always been crazy about motorsports in Spain (rallies, motorcycles, trial, etc). Of course a driver as FA increases the interest of the people in the sport (this is completely normal)
Please, can you make a list of the countries entitled to having an "authoritative voice on anything on four wheels" so that we can separate the valid comments from the useless comments?
Miguel, Barcelona, Spain
"Fernando Alonso has launched another critical attack on McLaren after MISSING OUT on a third consecutive Formula One world title."
Mr. Dickinson...Let me remind you:
Hamilton caused FIA investigation in Monaco.
Hamilton's dangerous manouver overtaking Alonso in USA...
Hamilton childish attitude in Hungary: FIA investigation again, team points losed, and Alonso punished.
Hamilton "exclusive owner" of extra-laps in Q3.
BTW, Hamilton was involved in all incidents this season (crane, pace car, extra-laps, kimi's flying lap...)
National hero or unsportmanlike attitude?
Some fresh air to the Islands, please...

McLaren got what Ron Dennis deserved!
Pablo, Montevideo, Uruguay
The most important is neither Fernando or Lewis won the Championship. Someone should analyse that. I think Lewis made some mistakes for his youth and few experience, and I also think Fernando was a big part of the season worried about his problems with the team and his team-mate and not in winning races, so, Kimi took advantage of all those chances that both gave him to win. Perhaps they should think about that for the future and it will be a good opportunity for not repeating those mistakes.
José Luis, Getafe, Madrid, Spain
"Alonso's only escape route appears to be a return to Renault, who made him champion in 2005 and 2006"... That British arrogance of the eternal losers... Wh0s moaning now?
LOL!!! Wouldn't it be the other way round? It was Alonso who made Ranalut double world champion; and he would have made MacLaren if he had been allowed to... Look at MacLaren's performance in the previous years and what happened when Alonso arrived...
Thersites, Tres Cantos, Spain
Who is going to leave McLaren first? Alonso or RD? If Alonso remains in the team... will he be the 2nd driver or the 1st one? hahaha!!!
I suppose sponsors are very proud with your results. Your team has the best engine, the best pilot (Alonso), the best simulator, the best sponsors and lot of money. However your team has also the WORSE manager of the Circus: YOU, Ron.
Please could you invest also in some simulator of Human Resources and / or management?
Last year Kimi left your team and now he is the champion. Last year Alonso was the champion and now in your team he is still the best but he is not the champion.
Well done Ron! you are the best.
Good luck with sponsors!

Comments from Spain! What a shock!
Anyway, Hill has an excellent point, but I feel McLaren really have picked a bad route by appealling this decision. Kimi drove excellently to win and with 6 wins, is a deserved champion.
Leave the bitterness to the Spaniards. 3rd place for Alonso. And that's as high as he'll ever get no he's off to Arrows or Tyrell or who ever will put up with his duplicity.
Rick , Dubai, UAE
Rules are rules.
And what about the tyres used by LH friday?
Otto, Milan,
The best driver is now world champion. hamilton is no way near that standard yet.
Jim O'Sullivan, Sligo, Ireland
Double standards?
McLaren did not have its driver points removed after spygate.
So measuring by the same standard BMW and Williams could not be stripped of drivers points either.
You can't argue for BMW and Williams to lose drivers points, if McLaren didn't. So in either case Hamitlon can't be the champion.
Congrate Kimi, a well deservered end to the season for you and Ferrari
Peter, Singapore, Singapore
Easy everyone. There's an enormous amount of animosity towards Lewis from the Spanish. Understandable but not sporting.
I'm English and I'm happy with the outcome. We've got the most amazing talent in Lewis and he doesn't need the presure of winning in his first year. Kimi deserved it. He fought back from the poor start to the season he had. Good for him!
But leave Lewis alone. He and his father are role models for us all. Ron Dennis could indeed get a better grip on the team and his moral choices, but all in all, a rookie came into the same team as the two time world champ and out drove him.
Perhaps we should all have a bit of respect, rather than the Spanish unanimously wishing him dead. We don't wish Alonso dead. And I wish him luck next season. That's the English way!
Will Harris, London,
What about the stewards' decision to send Alonso back 5 places in Hungary when he had the pole posititon?
Had Alonso not been penalized McLaren would have won the driver's championship and retained number 1.

He was really a rookie,Ron.

Bye bye bye..!! Hamilton, do you need to help again? Ecleston help him.. unbelievable!!! Kimi congratulation!!! Hahahahaha.. still I'm laughing of RON.. Alonso is the best!! Good luck Alonso next year!!

Is this the english pride?? Stop with this!!!!!!
Torrente, Córdoba, Spain
he was really a rookie,Ron. How could you ignore it?

Ron Dennis and more generally McLaren's behaviour has been disgraceful this season. If Raikkonen would eventually be stripped of his well deserved Wold Champion title, F1 would no longer be a credible sportâ¦what a pityâ¦
Alex Ford, Basel, Switzerland
Maybe one day, Hamilton may have the opportunity to drive a FERRARI. He deserves it. This day will be the greatest day of is life.

I'm so happy that Hamilton "the cheater" has lost:Shame on Dennis and Hamilton's Papa. Hamilton never will be champion.
Jo, dover,
Norbert Haug said five days ago: "Who does not accept the second place, is not a sportsman. And who is not a sportsman, does not deserve respect".
You´re right Imekaa.
Equalty, honesty, team values??? Mclaren lost everything, even dignity.
I´m just relieved that Mr. Bruce Mclaren cannot see what his team is being turned into...
Shame on you, Mr Denis, Shame on you Mr Haug, shame on you Mr Withmarsh. Sportsmen? Just make me laugh.
Last but not least. Do Vodafone, Banco Santander, and all Mclaren sponsors agree with this appeal? Their public image is suffering a lot. Vodafone had to launch a very expensive campaign after Denis saying that Mclaren was racing Fernando in China. Will they launch a new one? I thought that sponsors wanted some benefits back , not having to spend even more money to fix Denis´ gossips
Javier, Madrid,
RidÃculos Hamilton, Ron Denis and Mc Laren.
Redblue, England, GB
McLaren Mercedes sucks!!! It can't be truth... with this stupid appeal they are showing every body how Dennis works... If BMWs are guilty, FIA must impose a Cash penalty, not positions and points in the Championship, like they imposed to LH when he has used two wet wheels kit last friday... Please, Dennis, go with Toth by the hand to retirement...
Tabaré, Valencia, Spain
Congratulations Kimi !!
Ron: Really terrible management! You´re driving a company not a family. Mercedes can be pleased with Ron cause mercedes sales in Spain are going really DOWN.
WE LOVE YOU RON!! (Spanish Ferrari Fan Club)
Carlito Brigante, Madrid, Spain
If the FIA wants to be consistent, they have to exclude Williams and BMW from the results, BUT let the drivers keep their points "BECAUSE THEY HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH IT, IT WAS ENTIRELY THE TEAMS FAULT", sort of quoting ol' Ron.
Sorry Lewis, better luck next year!
Francois, Somerset East, South Africa
Good idea Hill, let's punish the cheating, but how about start with Hamilton and Alonso ? Mclarean stole info from Ferrari, it used it to their advantage, it's a fact, therefore the drivers were benefitted by it making it illegal, and by the way, they knew what was happening. The drivers should've been punished for it as well. Mclarean and drivers are thge Marion Jones's of this year F1, doped cheats !!
Leo, Cambridge,
Ludicrous,Farcical, Absurd. Why do we sit through this every sunday?
Will, Hannover,
I think that this proves that F1 need to define a full list of possible infringements, together with the punishment that is appropriate - it cannot be left up to discretion of stewards when the result is so critical.
Or if this rule for fuel at the wrong temp DOES exist, and there is a punishment laid down, then it MUST be applied - there can be no grey areas.
Andrew, Cambridge,
This is a joke, isn't?
Haven't "Rum" Dennis got enought help from (ma)FIA this year to he's daddy's rookie boy??
This bussines ( this is not a sport!!) smell ver very bad.
Fernando, get away of that nest of rats!!!
Miguel, Madrid, Spain
The appealation is just an other exhibition of the poorness of moral and lack of honour of a blind team manager, obsessed with making a champion of his "sports criature". It remembers me the "Frankenstein" tale...Let it go and face your mistakes Mr. Dennis. You´ve lost more than two championships these year, you´ve lost the respect of many autosport fans, indepently of their nationality.
Rafa, Valencia, Spain
Ron Dennis should stop all this nonsense!! Why can't he admit defeat? McLaren was involved in many nasty business this year and some actions really deserved a penalisation by the FIA but strangely nothing happened.
Personally I would have liked Alonso to win the title but Raikkonnen has done a good job all year around and he really deserves it.
Ester, Misiones, Spain
After being caught with illegal xerox copies of Ferrari's confidential design book, now McLaren is using layers to win a title which they have lost on the track. What happened to the english fair play ?
Shame on McLaren, and shame on Hamilton for not complaining about what McLaren is doing.
Pierre Arronax, Paris, France
Ron wants to break the equality again!!
Let them on 109, let Kimi be the World Champion!!!
Alejandro R Moreira, O Porrinho, Galicia
Ron Dennis should just accept that the better driver won, fair & square'. He 'Dennis' should stand to one side and let someone else manage the team after the basic mistakes that McLaren have made this season. Kimi Raikkonen, deserves the title and showed that sticking at it & never giving in, will bring you rewards. The BMW & Williams drivers should not be punished for some bizzare temperature readings on fuel! Next season, McLaren should be more focused in the racing & not the PR/Hype that they let build up around Hamilton and keep ITV away from him. Well done Kimi, well done Ferrari.
David Lomax, Plymouth, England
Pathetic.
If McLaren hadn't bodged Hamilton's return to the pit to change his tyres in China, they would not now be scrabbling around to find a technicality under which their driver can be awarded the championship.
The truth is that in the second half of the season, Hamilton has been outdriven substantially by Raikkonen and somewhat by Alonso. The team feud with Alonso hasn't helped, either.
Hamilton will no doubt learn from 2007 and be a much tougher proposition in 2008.
Michael Smith, Southampton, UK
Thanks Debbie, you've explained exactely what i think! The spy-story must be a lesson for everyone. Only the team was punished for that disgusting behaviour of informatiom stealing...now the judgment couldn't be different!!!
Shame on Silvers!
Gabriel, Madrid, Spain
I cannot but repeat what so many have said already: should the appeal succeed, it would make a farce of what was undeniably the most exciting Formula 1 season in ions.
Let us hope that will not happen.
Mikko Takkunen, Swansea, West Glamorgan
Ridiculous.
I've never seen that before in any kind of sport. Ron Dennis, for the next year, will have to review all the "movements" that he has been doing during this year. I'm gonna repeat it again: Ron, you're embarassing, I hope next year you won't be at f1, for the good of sport.
Unbelievable and disgusting.
Pau, Girona, Catalonia
First, it was ridiculous
Then, it was pathetical,
Now, it is grotesque,
Tomorrow, it will be dramatic.
Mario Ponti, Elvas, Portugal
If there is insufficient evidence to prove the fuel temperature accusation then I would be curious to know how the allegation ever came about...?
T Gill, Tring, UK
My personal sentiments towards the team aside, Mclaren's actions may well serve to highlight the lack of transparency of stewards' decisions which, in turn, could well lead to a better understanding, and more uniform application thereof, of the rules in future seasons.
As a side note, I certainly don't see this impacting on the actual championship results, though the patriot in me continues to hold on to a few, perhaps naive, shreds of hope.
David, Coventry, England
Mclaren-Mercedes is nothing but a bunch of loosers. Congratulations Kimi! And Thank you Fernando for the superb season you have completed , given the circoumstances.
antxon, Bilbao, Spain
Wasn't all the spying enough, at least for this year?
In this fast-changing world we should also reconsider the old tale about British sportsmaship. Should we not?
Claudio, Ascoli Piceno, Italy
There is rules for Ferrari? and another for Hamilton.no?
Hungary, Germany, Japan, Brazil (2).
Which rule did Fernando infringed in Hungary and what was the result?
Why must a British steward decide over a british driver?
this is not fair. And you reclame.
Fermin, Jaen, España
Stop moaninnnnng, pleaseeee... Was Fernando the one that moaned? What's up with the whole Mclaren now?
Enric, Barcelona,
Poor losers. First, their rigging of Alonso's car and racing against their own driver to make their beloved marketing product win leaves them with nothing - neither Alonso's nor Hamilton's title, and then they pull out ridiculous claims against drivers at random so that Hamilton could win.
Mr. Hill, if rules are rules, perhaps you can explain what rule did Alonso get punished under in Hungary (listed blank at the record), why did Hamilton get a much lesser punishment than Shuey little had for doing much less in Brazil, why did Hamilton get help from the crane (only to call it illegal for the next driver who tries to take advantage of that), and how did all these things happen if rules are rules. It's unbelievable that you can be so one-sided as to complain that a ridiculous claim is unheard and ignore all of this.
And it's particularly disgusting for me, because I was a fan of Damon Hill. I guess he isn't as great as I thought him to be; he's just another one-sided Brit.
Miguel Perez, Madrid, Spain
Who is not a sportsman now? Hamilton is a bad loser!
Godoy, London,
LH got to keep all the points he got driving a car that was banned from the championship for using Ferrariâs technical information. Now they are appealing to take points away from three drivers for fuel temperature regulations? LOL!!! Congrats KIMI
Rafael Rodriguez, Winston Salem, North Carolina
Shame on Dennis, this appeal is pathetic and shows that Dennis is desperate...
Carlos, Oviedo, Spain
Congratulations to a great Formula One World Champion Kimi Raikkonen!
I think it is a case of too much team power and too little management imagination with the result that the fans are badly served. Somebody at the top needs to take a grip.

Congratulations Hamilton and Dennis!!! JAJAJJAA

eLOI, sPAIN,

Uk people, wath a terrible week.......
FERRARI and no more!
paolo, Milan, Italy
LH, was not able to handle the pressure, and he wont be able to handle it in the future. Ron Dennis, unable to manage the team. Hungary was where McLaren lost the Championship.
I am happy LH lost the championship, because it is just. You have to rulle on the track and not on the offices. But we see that this is the way Hamilton competes.
I have read many sportmanship comments. Stealing extra laps and accusing you team mate for following team orders is not sporty in any way.
Congrats to Britain, McLaren, Ron Dennis and Lewis Hamilton... and his father. (from a sportman)
Pedro Ubeda, Zaragoza, Spain
The television media are quoting that the fuel temperature in the tanks of three cars checked.
The question I ask is, was the fuel at source also checked, if not why not, as this is the basis from where you start because this could be even lower.
If the fuel was measured in the car, the temperature from the engine and surrounding components would raise the temperature of the fuel above the base reading.
With fuel at a lower temperature than the ambient you will get more fuel in your tank as it is more dense. Race cars would effectively get more bang for their bucks because the fuel in the tank and fuel lines is more dense, means more fuel is being injected into the cylinders to burn.
When testing engines volume of fuel is not used, fuel is measured in weight, also its specific gravity, the temperature of the fuel is also taken at the time of conducting fuel loops and power curves.
Regarding those who seem to know so much about Formula One they have missed the point that this does not only effect Lewis Hamilton but also the drivers who were behind him who would also gain more points also the Toyota team would also gain.
So it is not as straightforward as it seems.
This is why you should always fill your car with petrol in the morning because the fuel storage tank will be colder.
If you all are true motor sport fans then you would appreciate all the drivers and riders in what ever motor sport they choose. They all risk injury at worse death, for your entertainment, but form some of you I have read nothing but bile.
If team managers or engineers are straying from the straight and narrow, all teams and I do mean all teams have done it at some time, so be it. But rarely are the driver/rider implicated.
Bile shows a poor sports person.
Nite Owl, Ferndown, England
If you want any chance to see Formula 1 successful in North America, then leave this Championship to Kimi. After all he won in fair style - on the track. If McLaren wins it in Courtroom, Nascar people will get another Christmas gift: more fans (some ex-F1).
Yurek Tobiasz, Calgary, Canada
Well, lets say Williams and BMW had fuel irregularities but historically the teams has been punished, not the drivers. This is so pathetic of McLaren! Forza Ferrari.
Ali, New York City, NY
I sure wish the appeal won't go through. Anyone with similar thoughts on how "unaccepting" Ron Dennis is? Let's face it, Fernando congratulated Kimi in the interview session. That was the first thing he did. Lewis' quoted words were: I'm coming back stronger next year. I like the sound of that! But then...
Ron started the post season with an appeal to dethrone Raikkonen. Well, you can't blame him for trying, but with the CONFIRMATION already processed and everything, I think he should just accept it like what his drivers did.
Michael, Bournemouth, England
I'm surprised that everyone is criticising Mclaren so much for appealing. Do any of you really believe that Ferrari would not have appealed in similar circumstances?
Tim, Preston,
Why doesn't McLaren ask to investigate "team orders" at Ferrari? Simple; this would make Alonso World Champion!
Liuzzi, Roma,
both dennis and hamilton congratulated ferrari and raikkonen on their victory. there is no question they were magnanimous in defeat... and if you didn't see lewis's dad after the race, it is probably because you were too busy raising a glass of sour grape whine to the fact that even though alonso won nothing, nor did mcclaren or hamilton.
here's the news for you spanish types... whether or not other drivers are excluded and hamilton takes the title, alonso will still be third. not champion. just a guy who tried to blackmail his own boss and was shown up all season by a rookie who outqualified him and outraced him week after week (um... until yesterday anyway).
it's hardly surprising mcclaren want the rules applied. after all, if not for having their constructors' championship points removed, mcclaren would be constructors' champions. if mcclaren deserved that, so did ferrari.
the only thing kimi has over alonso and lewis is the abilty to shut up. take note, alonso fans.
jem, london, uk
Spain a Country that had no real interest in Formula one until a few years ago! Now look at them the authoratitive voice on anything on four wheels!
How many spaniards on here berrating Hamilton, McClaren and Dennis? Its obviously sour grapes on there part because Alonso didn't have his ego massaged all year like he has in the past.
McClaren allow their drivers to fight it out, always have, get over it! Alonso didn't have the stomach! Maybe he should move to a Spanish run team? Oh that's right their isn't any!
Congratulations to Kimi a worthy world champion!
Steve, Preston, UK
Damon Hill was right there are one set of rules for Ferrari and another set for the rest of the teams, the only people the F.I.A are kidding are themselves.
There is no-one so blind as those who do not want too see.
fiona, birmingham, uk
Sounds like sour grapes from a lot of spanish supporters to me... I agree McLaren should not appeal the decision. Lewis would not, I am sure, wish to win in that way.
Although if he were to be named champion he would not be undeserving because of his driving skills - which have been almost perfect all year. At last F1 is exciting again with a driver who isnt afraid to try that last ditch overtaking move. Something missing from F1 for years.
Hamilton's team have let him down this year with foolish mistakes like leaving him out at least 3 laps too long in China on worn out tyres, which doubtless cost him the title. But thats racing - so don't knock the Hamilton because Alonso couldnt cut it this year...
Stan, London, England
To all those who criticized Ron Dennis, think about this: hasn´t he treated both his pilots equally? 109 points each! And they´re both sharing the same thing: NOTHING! Loser! Hahaha! Complaining now about BMW and Williams is pathetic...
Putos Ingleses, Asturias, ESPAÃA
Ron is a shame! Forget about the spy-story (the team should be disqualified out of that alone), this new thing about the fuel it's so patetic. McLaren pilots didn't had any penalties for being part of a team that stolen datas and informations from another team and now he wants sauber and williams pilots to be disqualified for something like that. Is ron 60 or 6 y.o.? He's like a baby stomping feet for an icecream. I feel sorry for Hamilton only. All those facts are ruining his reputation too. Too bad because he is a talent, and the fact he went out during the Q3 session just right in time to slow down Kimi (not really a "legal" and fair move) it's just because he is influenced by that "little man" named Ron.
Heartistico, milan, italy
If I had any faith left where the politics of F1 are concerned, then I would expect the authorities to institute penalties for the obvious breach of rules where petrol temperature is concerned and for Lewis to be rightfully named World Champion! Move over Raikkonen! As for Alsonso; anyone who turns against his team and causes so much trouble can hardly expect to be treated with anything but contempt! His opinion is of no value.
Tom Jackson, London, UK
Rules are Rules but nobody wants Hamilton to win World Championship other than on the track
Paul Hahn, London,
If the right of appeal exsisits the Mclaren would be negligent in not using it. They - Alonso and Hamilton - have suffered mightily because of 'The Rules' so I only think it only fair they use them, on this occasion to their avantage.
I have heard that an investigation is under way into the start of the Grand Prix - the manouvers by Massa, Raikonen and Alonso were allegedly co-ordinated to deny Hamilton a clear start - has anyone else heard about this? Massa's start was certainly designed to allow his team mate through and no surprises that Ferrari stage managed a victory for him in the circumstances.

Congratulations Mr Dennis, your wonderful strategy of creating havoc at your own home has handed all the titles to Ferrari. Surely Ferrari should send you a nice present for your excellent job. As for Hamilton: unexperience at its best. A hopeless hopeful rookie world champion. Better luck next season.
Leuman Royce, Malaga, Spain
Ron Dennis has no more credibility and honesty. He and McLaren have managed to siscredit the entire F1. They should have been struck off this and next season.
Andrea, Lytham, UK
...guess why this is called the "circus".
Luis, Madrid, Spain
Damon Hill only cries and laments his own disaster. McLaren is the one and only team that defeats one of their drivers, while Ferrari joke...
Jose Leon, Vigo, Spain
McLaren=Ridicolous
Dennis=Fired
Alonso=The best.

Get it over losers! Kimi is the World Champion, and Hamilton the loser.
SUZIE, Los Angeles, USA/California
So in the last two Grands Prix Ron Dennis and Lewis Hamilton have managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Lewis has had a phenomenal first season and no doubt will emerge as World Champion in a season or two. The Ferrari switch of positions was beautifully executed so as not to obviously break the "team orders" rule. Congratulations to Raikkonen and Ferrari. Ron Dennis should drop this nonsense and concentrate on next year. Can he sign Kubica to drive alongside Hamilton next year? - that would be interesting!

Irrespective of the outcome of any appeal, it appears from the comments already posted that if you are not Ferrari then you are wrong to appeal. I would imagine that e-mails flow from Ferrari before, during and after races complaining of this and of that. Well, for a change, an appeal is being made by a team other than Ferrari. At least let it run it's course and see what the outcome is. Finally, I seem to remember that Ferrari used an "illegal" car for the first Grand Prix, so are the TRULY the winners of the championship.

Nothing against Kimi but this is embarrasing - if the rules were broken then the transgressors must be punished.Any other course of action prompts the view the the final result is fixed and the final arbitors are being dishonest.
Rightly McLaren have been punished for breaking the rules.Teams that change engines during practice are punished, but in the final race teams the infringe the technical regulations on fuel are not! Where is the justice ?
As for Alonso 'would be embarrassed if Hamilton won like this'
pull the other one - which team is trying to ingratiate himself with this time?
Nigel Ashurst, Leicester,
Even if the appeal goes through the driver championship points would most probably not be taken away. They generally haven't through history, and even McLaren got to keep their drivers points even though their breach of the egulations were far more severe than the one Williams and BMW may have done.
And yes, Hamilton winning the WDC through this would be very embarassing for the sport. Almost unthinkable so, considering the history of the 2007 McLaren.

Another "Spy History" ??????
How did McLaren know the kind of fuel BMW used ???
Good job Ron !!!
Congratulations Kimi !! and Thank you.
SueSumers, Paris, France
After the shame of the spy story this appeal definetely damaged the image of the Mclaren-Mercedes-Vodafone team. I wonder why Ron Dennis didn't appeal against the 100 million dollars fine too. Pathetic. I think the english media have a big responsibility too.
gabor, budapest, hungarzy
The Rules should apply in every case. They have been applied against McLaren enough this year; why shouldn't they be applied when it's in McLaren's favour? McLaren should not have to appeal in order to have the Laws of the sport upheld - that is the travesty.
John, Derby, UK
Great job ferrari!! Congratulations Räikkonen!!
If mc-mercedes had supported Alonso in every single race... they would have won the driver's title a month ago...
LOSERS You deserve it!!
Jaime, London, England
Just pathetic as the whole season was from Dennis and Lew-ser! Congratulations Kimi! Also to Dennis to damage so much Mercedes and Vodaphone brands and make such a joke out of himself. Anyway, the owner can´t be sacked, can he?
Jose, Santiago, Spain
In 1995 Brazilian Gp Coulthard and Schumacher were disqulified and win was heanded to Gerhard Berger because of wrong fuel. Later that year results were changed again and only teams did not escape punishment. If you take a look at championship table from 1995 Brazilian Gp winner is Schumacher and second is DC.

Well congratulations Alonso on your successful mind games winning out. Ultimately, Hamilton has demonstrated he is a driver on another level to anyone else and with one or two more years experience he will have the maturity to treat Alonso´s blatant gamesmanship with the disdain it deserves.
James Macdonald, Brazil, São Paulo
Big mistakes, Ron Dennis! Trying to impose your winner, you destroy the McLaren team and lost everything. Even the future is too confused now with you there inside.

Father wRONg(Dennis) keeps on doing wRONg!!!
But the song is already written: Never gonna get it!!!!!
The worst F1 Team Management ever!
Please Fernando leave it!!

What a sad end to a brilliant 'rookie' season for Lewis Hamilton. Not because he did not gain the championship but for his being a poor looser. I agree with Alsonso's comments,
as he succinctly points out, Raikkonen has won six races, while Hamilton and himself only four. I wonder what Hamilton's sponsors make of all of this? After all, his face is seen on magazine covers, etc. sponsoring for all he can get. This is usually the prerogative of established champions not publicity-hungry 'wanabees'. It's no surprise that such a talented but manufacterd product's father is seen as often on our screens as is his son.
Jeff, London, England
i don't like Alonso, but like I'm Spanish i wanted him to win. but you know what?? when you play with fire... you burn. the only guilty is Ron Dennis. by his fault, alonso and hamilton didn't win the championship, and by his fault, McLaren-Mercedes lost all his Team Points.
Now, Dennis would think about what he has done, and later, make something for don't fall in the same mistakes.
By his fault, alonso couldn't fight for the race in Brazil, because you won't tell me that a Normal BMW can pass to your MP4-22... i would be embarrased
Mc-Laren has made Alonso to loose... and with this battle, mc-laren has been the only damaged.
in other side, i think it's time to congratulate to Kimi Raikkonen, the winner of the championship. he has win 6 races, and hamilton and alonso 4.
Congratulations, Kimi.
Sometimes, Justice makes things correctly. and one thing that Justice has made it's that Ron Dennis it's not going to have nothing to celebrate. The only he can do now, is cry
Gorka, Madrid, Spain
Vacancy! New head of team wanted - apply within. This should be the result of the end of the championship for McLaren. Ron Dennis has proven time and again that he is a poor team leader. He backed the wrong horse. How on earth can you have a double world championship winner driving for your team and then start undermining him? Now there is a farcical appeal so that Hamilton gets the WDC by the back door. Senseless arrogance and really very very petty.
<However, this is par for the course for McLaren - no one can ever credibly say that this team is 'honest, sporting or credible'.
Exccept the English press of course.
