Despite lurid allegations about his private life and widespread calls for him to resign, Max Mosley, the president of Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA), has found an unlikely ally in the United Arab Emirates.
However, one man to vote in favour of Mosley retaining his position is Mohammed ben Sulayem, the president of the Automobile and Touring Club of the UAE.
He said: "I think it has been used for the wrong reasons," ben Sulayem said. "Surely he did not break the law. This is something that is allowed there. I am a full supporter. If someone wants to use this for the wrong reasons, it is not acceptable.
"God gave us a very amazing gift not to forget. How fast can we forget what this man did for motor sport - where it was and where it is now? He did not commit anything that weakens the FIA. We as members of the FIA elected him."
Condemnation has rained down on the Mosley since the publication in the News of the World of details about his part in an allegedly Nazi-inspired sado-masochistic orgy which is alleged to have taken with five prostitutes in a basement flat in Chelsea, west London.
The FIA have now decided that on June 3, Mosley will go before the FIA's general assembley, for a secret ballot that will decide his future as president of the organisation. In the meantime, Mosley, who has run the organisation for the past 15 years, is expected to embark on an intensive round of 'shuttle diplomacy' to try to secure his future.

Alex D. now learn something else. All 222 members of the FIA have to vote and they all have to be available on the same day. Okay?
I am glad you are not president of FIA, as you talk nonsense.

I agree with Marly from LA that "the girl who filmed the private event should be banned from future sex work."
The film was of poor audio quality at times. If they are going to do this sort of thing, then they need to be technically competant in their covert filming activities.

Interesting but not surprising after reading the article in Autoweek (April 7th/08 ) which had two about MM..one about the 'scandal' and the second (two columns away!?) entitled "Big Payout".
It went on to reveal that a committee will work with the FIA Foundation to decide how to distribute $ 60 million (of the original $100m .Mclaren fine) over the next five years to Young Driver Safe Scholarship Program,an Ofiicials Skills Safety Program and a Facility Safety Improvement Consultancy Program.
Now lets guess who is on the Committee shall we ? No better still...read the Autoweek article (autoweek.com ...) .Theres Norbert,Jean,Michael (with his 91 victories!),Nick Craw (ACCUS)and yes ,the FIA President himself.
Thanks Autoweek ( sorry Ed :) for this little smidgen of fact.Wonder if UAE has a F1 racetrack ?...probably sponsored by Camel,eh?

I wasn't aware there was an international list of people banned from working as prostitutes, still you learn something every day!
Mosely should go, his leadership has been poor and biased at best, fast becoming comical. The difference between the renault & mclaren spygates was ridiculous.
Why does the decision to get rid of him have to wait months til 3 June? (clearly he's hoping it will all blow over- i hope somethig else comes out)

I am wondering what would happened if the one filmed were Hamilton instead of MM....
Perhaps in UK you were talking about privacy and liberty instead of using it to damage people.
Kormak, aqui,
I guess you must be looking at the wrong video if you don't see any german prisoner of war similarities.

The girl who filmed the private event should be banned from future sex work. The government should get a restraining order against her. It also seems illegal and possibly criminal to film and then publish bedroom matters without permission.
Marly, los angeles, USA
I've also finally got around to watching the NotW video on YouTube.
1) There is no evidence of Nazi or even German regalia.
2) There is no evidence of prison regalia.
3) Although her voice was muffled, there is no evidence that the girl was mimicing a German accent. She may well be foreign, as probably 50% of London prostitutes are.
It would be amusing if Stewart, Sheckter and Honda et. al. were found guilty of libeling him.
What he does legally in the privacy of his or anyone elses home is none of anyone elses business.

having just viewed the footage available on you tube. i have to say that although i am totally disgusted with the mosley family history , i am unable to see why this man is being villified by what he has done , the camp uniforms are nothing compared to what prince harry wore and i do not remember people calling for him to resign from the prospect of the british throne . as for the supposed prisoner uniforms , they are nothing like those work by prisoners in concentration camps. if this person was not conected to the mosley family i doubt this conection would have been made at all
the women concerned were prostitutes and so the only crime he has commited is of soliciting ...
we have zimbabwe in crisis, the sudan in famine and loads of other problems in the world that are due to ethnis cleansing ... aren't these worth more than this so called news
