My day really got underway when I started to play the back nine at 9.30 this morning. It was really nice to be out there. The sun was shining and there was a great atmosphere.
I took all my clubs today not like yesterday when I had two wedges and a putter.
I didn't hit any particularly memorable shots. I played good steady golf. There were no panic stations going into tomorrow, nothing to make me feel I need to work on it before tomorrow. I am in a good, calm relaxed frame of mind. One reason why I went out was to get the juices flowing. That is what I like about the par 3 tournament. There is a great atmosphere, with thousands of people around the greens. It is a nice gentle warm-up for the tournament.
I had Matt Dawson on my bag for the par 3. He had a great time. We played with Ian Poulter and Soren Hansen and Poults had DJ Spoony on his bag. Spoony and Matt know each other very well and so there was a lot of good banter going backwards and forwards. Matt said it was the opportunity of a lifetime to be out there inside the ropes. Poults pipped me by one and I think there was a little wager going on between the two caddies. I was two over, he was one over. My ball trickled over the back of the 8th green and ran down a bank and into the water. You don't necessarily want to win the par 3. You start birdie, birdie, birdie and you think "uh, uh". The history of the event is why you don't want to win it. Nobody who has won it has gone on to win the tournament.
I am going home to put my feet up now and think about tomorrow. I will have a quiet dinner at home and chill with everyone in the house - my friends from North Hants, Chris and Jonathan, Matt Dawson, Annie, my mother, and Peter, her friend, and Kate's Dad and step mother. I am let off cooking duties this week. I am pampered this week. The family spoils me. Nick [Bradley, my coach] and I will have a chat for 30 or 40 minutes some time before I go to bed. We might do some meditation. I am sure he will read me a quotation or two from his book of quotations. He likes those.
Then I shall get to the course about two hours before my tee-off time, which is 10.56. That gives me time to get a nice breakfast, have a stretch and not rush it. I have my routine and it is at times like this that the routine pays off.

An amazing insight into the mind of such an exciting talent. Justin seems so level headed and looks to have a steely determination this year and he talks like a winner... Let's hope so !!
