E-mail your questions to Justin Rose here
Justin Rose will write newspaper columns for The Times throughout this year, and exclusively for Times Online every day during the majors, giving the true picture from inside the ropes in his daily diary.
But that's not all: Justin also wants to hear from you. Each day the world No 9 will pick the best of your questions and answer them here. Here are his latest replies:
Great start on Thursday, well done. Despite knowing that tempo is the key
to good golf, I often find I have already hit the ball before I realise I
have started my backswing. How do you keep your tempo so smooth under
pressure, let alone when you are in contention on the last day of a major? Good
luck for the rest of this week.
Barry and James Ovenden (age 11)
Justin: Barry and James, I am lucky. I have never had any trouble in controlling my tempo. Why don't you try counting? One to start the backswing, two as you hit the ball. Everyone wants to feel a pause at the top of the backswing but it's hard to achieve that.
Justin, what (if any) thoughts do you have when you're stood over the ball
on the 1st tee of a major championship?
Best of luck for this week and the rest of the season!
Jonathan O'Neill, Nottingham
Justin: Jonathan, I concentrate on remembering my swing thought for the day, whatever the thought is. Today I wasn't as successful as I should have been. I was a little edgy if the truth be told but normally I try and get into the zone, select one swing thought and concentrate on it.
Justin, do you adapt your footwear for different ground conditions? If so,
how and what are your choices?
Hersh Tegala
Justin: Hersh, I use Adidas 360 ltd shoes, They have soft spikes and I get plenty of traction from them. I have never slipped when wearing them.
I was just wondering which ball you are using at Augusta this week? I was
also wondering how I could improve my consistency and if is there anything I
should particularly work on?
James Ross
Justin: James, my ball is TP Red LDP. It is new this year. It has a softer feel but it goes as far as a ball that feels harder. You could improve your consistency by improving your short game. I hardly practice my long game. Everyone loves to belt their driver down the practice fairway but concentrate on your short game. If you improve it you will shave a shot or two a round each time. Practice putting too. Practice those four-footers and practice your judgement of distance. Do all that and you will improve.
Justin, wonderful round on Thursday at Augusta National. Congratulations.
Can you tell me about the slacks that you wore on Thursday, please. Some
viewers near me were calling them 'Levi jeans'. Whether they are or not is
immaterial, but I would like to settle the discussion. Who makes them? and
what material are they made from? Good luck.
Mac
Justin: Mac you are very observant. I was wearing cotton trousers that are made for me by my tailor. I sent him a pair of my favourite jeans and told him to copy the fit. That's why they have the pockets they do. I think they look cool.
