Severiano Ballesteros has undergone a second bout of surgery after Tuesday's operation to remove a brain tumour suffered complications.
Doctors took the decision to operate again today to reduce pressure on Ballesteros’s brain caused by swelling by removing part of his skull.
A statement from the LA Paz hospital in Madrid read: “The patient is stable and remains under observation in the intensive care unit having undergone a decompressive craniectomy after suffering from a decrease in the level of consciousness due to a cerebral edema.”
The golf legend was taken to the hospital on October 6 after he collapsed and briefly lost consciousness at Madrid airport. He announced on Sunday that he had been diagnosed with a brain tumour.
The 51-year-old won the Open in 1979, 1984 and 1988 and became the first European to win the US Masters in 1980, a title he claimed again in 1983.

I agree with Oliver, bottom. I'm very happy to see how british news talk about Seve. From Spain, thanks you.

Quite right. A living legend. A great ambassador for his profession. May the golfing Gods grant him more time on this planet. It will be richer for his presence........

It's amazing... I have to check this newspaper to know something about the operations of the best european golfer ever!! In Spain nobody talks about this!! Yeah, people here don't like golf too much (they prefer football, basketball, tennis, cycling or bikes), but this guy is a living legend!!!
