Paul Casey has shown me a thing or two. This time last year he was worrying about remaining in the world's top 50 and being eligible for tournaments and now he is number three in the world behind only Tiger and Phil. It just shows how quickly the game can change.
This is what I have to remember now I'm 44th in the world and beginning to become impatient with my form. Gary Player and Eduardo Romero have both told me to stop worrying. They have pointed out how you simply have to have patience in golf and that it will all come right in the end. I hope so.
Paul has shown that with a bit luck, self belief and things going your way, things can happen. This is what gives me confidence. Paul is getting to the age where things are cooking for him. He has matured a lot. People say you do that in your thirties and he is 31 now and next month will be 32. Right now he has to enjoy the rich vein he is in. When golf doesn't go so well you have to look at things and keep them in perspective and that is what I am trying to do as well.
Kate and I were very sad to hear about Amy Mickelson and her breast cancer. I think there is a lot of good will in golf. There is so much mutual respect out here because everyone realises what a tough game it is.
We know the Mickelsons quite well. Kate is really close with Amy. I have played Phil a few times and Kate asked Amy to help with some of the projects she is involved with for the PGA Tour Wives organisation. We have had nothing but great experiences with the Mickelsons. Phil and Amy have supported our charity day. Phil has given us some great auction items. I have played Phil a couple of times and beaten him a couple of times. He said some nice things to me after the Ryder Cup. They were echoed by Amy as well. They are a nice couple.
It shows you how fickle life is and the fact that you're a pro golfer does not mean you are immune to any of that sort of stuff.
Oh and talking of charity days, mine on July 8 is shaping up well. If you would like to buy a team contact Marcus Day, my manager. It will be held at Stoke Park and there will be 24 teams of three plus a celebrity. It costs £3,500 per team. The money goes into cancer research in the UK, specifically to leukaemia research and breast cancer research which are basically in memory of my Dad and Kate's Mum.
See you there.
