1 Why did UK Athletics (UKA) allow Dwain Chambers to make his initial comeback in 2006 without such a fuss and then spark one of the biggest controversies second-time around?
2 If UKA is taking such a hard stance against drugs, why did it not stick to its guns and prevent Chambers from competing in its trials? He claims he has no money, so why not take him on in court?
3 Why make such a furore about selecting Chambers after he met all the qualifying criteria yet pick another drugs cheat, Carl Myerscough, in the shot put, when he did not even compete at the trials?
4 UKA has suddenly announced an offi cial review of its antidoping rules to be led by Dame Tanni Grey-Thompson. Is it just coincidence it has happened on the back of Chambers?
5 In 2006, Chambers was ordered to pay back £120,000 of past earnings if he wished to return to the sport. How much of it has he paid back and how does UKA expect to recoup the money if he is being excluded from top meetings and sponsors will not touch him?
6 Chambers insists he never announced he was retiring from athletics when he left in 2006 for American football. But why then did he not respond when UKA wrote to him to tell him he was off their offi cial drugs-testing register?
7 Why does Chambers still speak to Victor Conte, the founder of Balco, the company whose steroid Tetrahydrogestrinone sparked his downfall?
8 How can Chambers remain at the forefront of the sport internationally when he is being blocked from competing against world-class opposition at any Grand Prix meeting?
9 Why has Chambers made a comeback, insisting he is clean, when he had previously said you can only win on drugs? Is he competing to fi nish second?
10 Will a Chambers gold at the world indoor championships in Valencia be considered a genuine medal when the UKA is totally against the sprinter running in Spain?

Come on people. We all know what's going on here. Or are you dumb?
Tino, Gloucester,
The issue here is mealy mouthed hypocrisy. Chambers admitted his guilt and gave us a brutal but realistic insight into the truth behind the facade - that is his real "crime". UK Athletics continue to rip him to shreds while neatly side-stepping the bans of Myerscough, Christie and Ohuruogu. Whether the current two year ban is extended to four years or for life is immaterial; you are only guilty when UK Athletics say that you are.

Hi David, have just read your excellent article and couldn't agree more. I work at the 'coal face' as a physio with close links with track & field. Couple of other points to consider....If UK athletics are taking such a hard line on drugs why did they sent our world junior champion, Harry AA out to the US to work with Trevor Graham, the same coach that supplied DC with THG. I also feel a political resentment against DC from UKA as he is performing much better than the current 'funded' athletes. You could argue that the funding system does not work & everyone is trying to protect their own position. Michael Johnson's 'awarding mediocrity' spring to mind. Lastly, it was obvious from the AAA qualifier last week that De Vos was only interested in where Pickering fininshed, you don't have to be an expert lip reader to work it out. Simeon Williamson will probably, once again miss the trip.
Good luck
