Take a trip to New York and see the city from the air

The Mayor of London has today been forced to retract Linford Christie's invitation to carry the Olympic torch through the capital, claiming it had been sent to the convicted drugs cheat "by mistake".
Christie, a former Olympic gold medallist, has a lifetime ban from the Olympics after testing positive for the steroid nandrolone in 1999.
However, he still received a letter signed by Ken Livingstone asking him to be one of 80 people to take the torch across the city in April as part of the build-up to this year’s Games in Beijing.
The invitation provoked a storm of controversy, before the Mayor's spokesman admitted it had been sent by mistake and without Mr Livingstone's knowledge. The Greater London Authority (GLA) issued a separate statement saying Christie was not invited after all.
"The decision to invite Linford Christie to be a torchbearer was not taken by the Mayor," he said. "The decision to invite Linford Christie was taken by officials and was a mistake."
Christie, 47, won gold in the 100m at the 1992 Barcelona games and has always denied taking the banned drug. His agent, Sue Barrett, said this lunchtime that she had a letter specifically signed by the London Mayor.
"I have a letter in front of me signed by Ken Livingstone," she told BBC Radio Five Live. "It says: 'I would be delighted if you would consider being one of our torch bearers, joining with us and up to 80 other well known personalities, who will each carry the torch for 250 metres.'"
Ms Barrett also told The Times that she had been given the invitation. "Yes, they have invited him. If he is around, he would be delighted to accept. We will know his schedule in a couple of weeks," she said.
However, the issue of who sent the invitation – and why – was mired in confusion when a Greater London Authority spokesman issued a statement saying that he had not been invited by the Mayor at all.
"Linford Christie has made it clear he will not be participating in the torch relay," the spokesman said.
"Inaccurate reports have appeared claiming that the Mayor invited Linford Christie to participate in the torch relay.
"The decision to invite Linford Christie to be a torchbearer was not taken by the Mayor.
"The Mayor only had the right to nominate five torchbearers and Linford Christie was not one of them."
Colin Moynihan, who sits on the Olympic Board for the 2012 London Games, said he was strongly opposed to Christie carrying the torch.
"I made it crystal clear that no one convicted of a drugs offence and banned for life under our bylaw should run with the Olympic flame," the BOA chairman told The Times. "I could not feel more strongly on the subject."
The GLA has officially named only Kelly Holmes, a double gold medal-winner in Athens, Sir Trevor McDonald, the newscaster, and the actress, Amara Khan, as torchbearers along the route from Wembley Stadium to the O2 Arena, a 2012 venue.

It's simple enough, isn't it?
Is the letter that Christie's agent has genuine or does Livingston claim it to be a forgery?
Only one version can be truthful.
AWilliams, Cradley Heath,
Is this something else Ken Livingstone is denying?
He's had so many feet in his mouth, it's hard to know
how he breathes.
leila , manchester, uk
Linford Christie should never be allowed to carry the Olympic Torch. He is a cheat and cheats should never ever be rewarded. They must have some pretty stupid officials running the U.K. Olympics.
gil, bristol, england
The letter of invitation was clearly signed by Livingstone. Are we therefore to assume that he does not bother to read the papers that are put in front of him? If this is the case why would we trust this person with the finances of a scout group, let alone this great city.
And what else might he have signed without reading - large cheques to 'The Base' and other pet Jasper projects perhaps?
Jay, London,
Will Ken Livingstone EVER admit he was wrong??!?
Arthur, Newcastle,
Why is a letter signed by Mr Livingstone sent without his knowledge? He signed it thinking it wouldn't be sent? Or didn't he sign it? Maybe he gives out piles of paper with his signature on so people can do work on his behalf and when things go wrong he can deny responsibility. Show us the letter Linford and maybe you'll only be the second least honourable person involved in this situation.

Drug enforcement was brought in to protect the athletes. The principal reason was NOT to prevent cheating. It was brought in when people started dying.
In the 40 years since testing was brought in at the olympics this has been forgotten.
We have moved from this to life time bans and vilification by the IOC. Who hardly qualify as saints (hmm how was it Salt Lake got the olympics?)
You can argue any drug 'Improves Performance'. How many times do we see a footballer or cricketer having injections. 'Without it they cannot play' the BBC commentator says!
Every athlete holding the torch will have taken a drug.
If it is not banned now it soon will be.
WADA and the IOC need policing. They even ban hypoxic oxygen tents, how they going to check, CCTV in the athletes home?
Common sense needs to return or people will just switch off.
I will this olympics.
To see hypocrites racing drug 'cheats' and 'clean' state sponsored drug takers (you know who I am talking about!).
Julian Sweet, Brussels,
As a teenager of 80s Britian, Linford Christie is an unadulterated sporting hero.
I recall, the only upheld drugs controversy was in Christie's retirement, and years after his legitimate Olympic gold. Even then, UK Athletics represented, in Christie's defence, reservations about false positives for nandrolene testing.
From where does the Mayor of London secure a national mandate to sacrifice the memory of a British sporting legend?
Ali G, London,
It is amazing how many things happen, in Ken's back garden, that he knows nothing about!
Individuals siphoning money around, people going on freebie holidays, dodgy dealings handing out contracts, and now a letter to LC. If it really went out with KL's signiature but without his knowledge then where is the police investigation? The technical term is 'forgery', and a prison sentence normally follows.
Dominic, Teddington,,
why not? worked for them, to a point. busy man; probably forgot about the conviction.
Philip Barnes, preston, england
Ok then, Paul Heyes, whats wrong with Steve Cram,Steve Ovett, Steven Redgrave,Alan Wells, Rodger Black, Sally Gunnell...........?
Brian, Woking,
I'm pretty sure that current athletes, in general, don't get asked to participate in the torch-bearing. If Radcliffe has retired by 2012, I'm sure she will be given a role of some sort.
Paul Heyes, Sheffield, England
And what is wrong with Paula Radcliffe, or is she too white to bear the torch
Lizzy, Lincoln, uk
Are they saying that Ken does not read what he signs? Or is Ken playing the Labour game of Hain and Alexander - blame some junior official.
