Victoria Pendleton defended the second of her three titles in the women's sprint to give Britain a seventh gold medal at the track world championships - and then Bradley Wiggins took his third gold of the competition, partnering Mark Cavendish to victory in the men's madison.
The victory gave Britain an eighth gold medal out of the 13 so far decided.
Germany took the silver medal, with Denmark in bronze.
Pendleton defeated Simona Krupeckaite of Lithuania in two straight races in the final. Jennie Reed of the United States will face Shuang Guo of China in a deciding race for the bronze.
"I had a lot of pressure on me to back up what I did last year and I was really hoping I wouldn't disappoint anyone," said Pendleton. "This has confirmed that it wasn't a one-off. I have got the legs to be the best in the world."
Pendleton will defend her third title, the women's keirin, on Sunday.
Earlier, 20-year-old Marianne Vos of the Netherlands won the women's points race to become the first woman to take world championships in three distinct cycling disciplines after becoming road-race and cyclo-cross champion in 2006.
Her victory was the first gold medal of the championships for the Dutch squad, which was expected to be strong.
Vos scored 33 points. Trine Schmidt of Denmark took silver with 25, and Vera Carrara of Italy took bronze with 20.
The three medalists were the only three women in the race to lap the field for a 20-point bonus during the 100-lap race.
Chris Hoy, the unexpected winner of the men's sprint on Friday, easily qualified for the final of the keirin, the event in which he is defending champion. Hoy won the 1km time trial at the Athens Olympics, but it was dropped from Beijing's programme to make way for BMX, so Hoy has turned to the sprint and keirin.
