- Great Britain have made it to the semi-finals of the women's archery team event with a victory over Japan. Korea are the clear favourites to take gold after breaking their own world record against Italy in the quarter-finals with a score of 231. Quarter-final results: China 211-206 India; Great Britain 201-196 Japan; France 218-211 Poland; Korea 231-217 Italy.
- The biggest stories so far today have come from the Water Cube where Michael Phelps crushed his rivals to take the 400m medley in a world record time of 4min 3.84sec. For all the details read Craig Lord's report from the aquatic centre.
- Britain gained some ground in the Equestrian team standings after Mary King produced a fine round on Call Again Cavalier. She moved into ninth on the individual list and Britain hold fourth place after the team dressage going into the cross-country.

- The United States v China basketball game is a mouthwatering prospect. The tip-off is expected at 3.15am and pits LeBron James and Kobe Bryant against the hosts' flag-bearing giant, Yao Ming.
- Thing 14 gold medals are up for grabs today and Michael Phelps (Meet Mike, he swims like a fish) is looking to hook his first of the Games in the 400m individual medley. He broke the Olympic record for the event yesterday.
- Great Britain's women's team archery (Alison Williamson, Naomi Folkard and Charlotte Burgess are ranked second in the world) and Nicole Cooke, riding in the women's cycling road race, both have a chance to stand on the podium today.
Other British interest includes the Murray brothers in the men's tennis doubles against Canada and more boxing action with Bradley Saunders and Billy Joe Saunder (no relation) taking on tough opposition at light-welterweight and welterweight respectively.
