Mark Hunter and Zac Purchase have won Great Britain's second rowing gold medal with victory in the lightweight men's double sculls.
The duo came into the race favourites for gold after an unbeaten World Cup campaign and commanding performances in the heats and semi-finals.
And they lived up to all expectations to lead from the start.
Roared on by the crowd Purchase and Hunter beat world silver medallists Greece by half a length, with world champions Denmark third. It was a 13th straight win for the crew and Hunter was thrilled with the win.
"That was amazing," he said. "Who said 13 was an unlucky number? We've got rid of that one!
"I just want to see that flag go up and hear the national anthem. I've been dying for that since I started rowing."
Although Greece closed the gap late in the race, Purchase was always convinced they would prevail.
He said: "We were not worried (near the finish line), by then we were well into a rhythm for the finish. We knew they would come back but we put the work in early so we could hold on for the finish and make sure.
"Before the race we sat down and said we wanted to come here and win this. We have worked all this year, and last year, the last 10 years and it comes down to six and a half minutes or so of hell - but with a fantastic result.
"It's unbelievable."
