2.30 Albany Stakes
1 Cuis Ghaire (K J Manning) 8-11 Fav
2 Penny’s Gift (R L Moore) 12-1
3 Danidh Dubai (C Catlin) 25-1
14 ran
Also: 20-1 African Skies fourth
Non Runners: Forward Feline, She’s A Shaw Thing
Cuis Ghaire ultimately landed the odds for favourite backers but the performance was more workmanlike than impressive and drew mixed reaction from bookmakers, with odds ranging from 5-1 to 10-1 chalked up about the Jim Bolger-trained filly for next year’s 1,000 Guineas.
Settled on the heels of the leaders by Kevin Manning, travelling well, the daughter of Galileo went through a flat spot when coming off the bridle entering the final 2f, trading as high as 5-1 on Betfair, before knuckling down and asserting inside the final furlong to score by one-and-three-quarter lengths.
Penny’s Gift struck for home at the distance but had no answer to the winner’s renewed effort, with Danidh Dubai and African Skies running on well to claim third and fourth respectively.
The winner was a first at the royal meeting for Derby-winning jockey Manning.
3.05 King Edward Stakes
1 Campanologist (L Dettori) 9-1
2 Conduit (R L Moore) 11-4 Fav
3 Top Lock (Martin Dwyer) 40-1
9 ran
Also: 13-2 All The Aces fourth.
Frankie Dettori was in jubilant mood after belatedly getting off the mark for the week aboard Campanologist.
Dettori was something of a spectator on the first three days of the royal meeting but the former champion has lost none of his style or skill and produced a canny front-running ride to take the spoils in the famous Godolphin silks.
Campanologist, backed to 9-1 from 12-1, settled well in front and Dettori timed the fractions to perfection - slowing the tempo mid-race to ensure his mount, a suspect stayer, had enough gas in the tank for the finish.
“I’ve been on suicide watch,” Dettori, who delighted the crowd with a flying dismount, joked “but I had a good partner there. He showed a lot of courage.”
Conduit, the well-supported 11-4 favourite, stayed on strongly from mid-division to claim second spot and could be one to keep in mind for the St Leger. Top Lock hung on for third despite tiring close home, but the John Gosden-trained Bronze Cannon could never land a blow after being held up in last place.
3.45 Coronation Stakes
1 Lush Lashes (K J Manning) 5-1
2 Infallible (J Fortune) 11-2
3 Carribean Sunset (P J Smullen) 16-1
11 ran
Lush Lashes continued a fabulous month for Jim Bolger, the Derby-winning trainer, when landing a brilliant victory in the group one Coronation Stakes.
The filly was also completing a 9-1 double on the day for Bolger and Kevin Manning, the winning jockey, who was successful earlier on Cuis Ghaire in the Albany Stakes.
In a change of tactics, Frankie Dettori took the previously held up Nahoodh to the front, setting a brisk pace from the French challenger Modern Look. Nahoodh remained at the head of affairs until appraoching the final furlong, where Lush Lashes and Infallible moved up to challenge.
With Nahoodh falling away, Lush Lashes drew on her stamina to wear down Infallible, drawing clear to win by three and a quarter lengths, with Carribean Sunset a further three-quarters of a length away third. Spacious, the 9-4 favourite, was settled in mid-division but found little when pulled out to challenge. She finished fourth.
For Bolger it was a glorious justifcation of the decision to drop Lush Lashes back to a mile after she finished unplaced when favourite for the Oaks. “I’ve been very impressed with her but I didn’t think she could win in that style," Bolger said. "We knew after Epsom that she was going the right way but I was very tempted to go for the Ribblesdale.
“But, having won a group race already, we decided to upgrade her into a group one and she’s done it very well. She had the Goffs Fillies Million won with a furlong to run and that is only seven furlongs, so she’s always shown plenty of pace.
“I was a little concerned about her getting the mile and a half at Epsom but, to be fair, it was more that she didn’t handle the track there. Next time it will probably be a mile and a half. There’s the Irish Oaks at the Curragh.”
4.20 Wolferton Handicap (Listed race)
1 Supaseus (S Drowne) 12-1
2 Many Volumes (T E Durcan) 17-2
3 Pinpoint (A Kirby) 16-1
10 ran
Also: 3-1 fav Monte Alto, 13-2 Buccellati fourth
Non Runners: Championship Point, Soapy Danger, Charlie Farnsbarns, Mutajarred, Bushman, Mount Hadley

Steve Drowne posted his third success of the meeting with a well judged front-running ride on the Hughie Morrison-trained Supaseus. Dictating the pace from the off and tracked throughout by the runner-up, Supaseus put his head down in the straight to score by a length.
Many Volumes was always on Supaseus’s heels but was not making any inroads on the winner inside the final furlong, with Pinpoint, a further short head back in third, among the closers.
Buccellati kept on well for fourth, with Halicarnassus, last turning into the straight, making strong late gains on the outside.Monte Alto, restrained in rear, was shown to the outside turning for home but only briefly threatened a challenge and was soon held.
4.55 Queen’s Vase
1 Patkai R L Moore 6-4 fav
2 Amerigo P Robinson 14-1
3 Gravitation A Munro 33-1
12 ran
Patkai was slashed to 4-1 favourite for the Ladbrokes St Leger after routing his rivals in this stamina test.
Ryan Moore was content to settle the improving colt in mid-division but he was on the heels of the leaders turning for home and, once in front, the combination surged clear to win by seven lengths.
Sir Michael Stoute, his trainer, said: “He’s really progressive and improving mentally all the time. He doesn’t need to go two miles but he conserved energy today by settling so well.”
Patkai was providing Stoute and Moore with compensation for Conduit’s narrow defeat earlier in the day. The rest of the runners finished in a heap, with Amerigo touching off Gravitation for second place.
5.30 Buckingham Palace Handicap
1 Regal Parade (Ahmed Ajtebi) 25-1
2 Dhaular Dhar (D Tudhope) 25-1
3 Jedburgh (J Quinn) 16-1
4 Border Music (F Norton) 16-1
28 ran
Bookmakers ended the fourth day of Royal Ascot smiling as Regal Parade landed a 25-1 success in the closing Buckingham Palace Handicap.
As ever in big-field handicaps on the straight course, the runners split into two groups, although there was little advantage in the draw as they largely kept pace with each other.
However, the decisive move came from Regal Parade, on whom Ahmed Ajtebi landed his first Royal Ascot success at his first attempt.
It was a second royal winner for trainer Dandy Nicholls and a profitable race for northern handlers as Jim Goldie’s Dhaular Dhar was a half-length second. Jedburgh, the winner of the race three years ago, ran on gamely to claim third with Border Music fourth.
Neither of the joint-favourites, Docofthebay, second in the Royal Hunt Cup on Wednesday, nor Godolphin’s Iguazu Falls, could mount a worthwhile challenge.
There was also a significant non-runner with the withdrawal of Zaahid, the favourite in some books in the morning.
