DOG trainer extraordinaire Victoria Stilwell presents the Channel 4 series It’s Me Or The Dog, in which she hunts down the most badly behaved hounds in Britain and helps their owners to regain the upper hand.

Dubbed “supernanny for dogs”, Stilwell has had a soft spot for our four-legged friends from an early age.

However, she originally trained as an actress, and it was only after she took up her sister’s suggestion to do some dog walking to earn extra cash that she began to consider working with animals as a career.

When not filming for Channel 4, London-born Stilwell, 36, spends her time running dog-training centres in the United States, where she lives with her 21-month-old daughter, Alex, and her husband, the actor Van Zeiler, 32.

She has also written a book entitled It’s Me Or The Dog.

How much money do you have in your wallet?

I think there’s about £20, which is fairly typical for me. I’m more of a card person, really.

Do you have many credit cards?

I generally buy everything from food to petrol on card, but to be honest — since Alex was born — I’ve only really been buying things for her.

Are you a saver or a spender?

I’m definitely a saver, especially now I live in the US where it’s all about college funds. You need a lot of money to put your child through a really good college, and people over here are obsessed by building up a fund. You can’t help getting caught up in it, particularly as you obviously want the best start in life for your child.

I was never really a big spender, though. There’s no real job security these days, so it seems sensible to look after your money when you get it.
