Hull FC have named Richard Agar as their new head coach.
The 36-year-old took temporary charge of the engage Super League strugglers for their 16-8 defeat to St Helens on Sunday after they parted company with Peter Sharp a week ago.
Despite slipping to their tenth defeat in 15 games this season, Hull impressed sufficiently enough to see Agar given the chance to rescue their ailing season.
His chances depend largely on Sunday's Carnegie Challenge Cup quarter-final tie at Bradford Bulls.
"I am proud and honoured to have been appointed head coach of this famous club," Agar said. "I am aware of the history and the heritage of Hull FC and feel privileged to be part of it. At the same time I am also excited by the challenge and opportunity that this position brings."
Agar inherits a Hull squad decimated by injury and poor form, but chief executive James Rule believes that the new coach is capable of turning their fortunes and season around.
"I believe Richard is a fantastic appointment for the club," Rule said. "He is highly respected by the players, staff and within the wider game of rugby league. His ambition and drive will be an integral part of the future development of Hull FC."
Meanwhile, Paul Cullen's six-year reign in charge of Warrington Wolves has come to an end, after the club announced they have parted company by mutual consent.
"On behalf of Warrington Wolves I wish to thank Paul for all of his services to the club," Lord Hoyle, the chairman, said. "Paul is a Warringtonian through and through and no-one could have been more proud wearing the primrose and blue than Paul.
"He served the club with distinction for 25 years as a player, assistant coach and finally as head coach from August 2002. We wish Paul well for the future."
Cullen's assistant, the former Great Britain hooker James Lowes, has been placed in temporary charge.
