Simon Webster, the Scotland winger, has been ruled out of tomorrow's RBS Six Nations clash with Wales. Webster misses the trip to Cardiff after picking up a hamstring injury in training and has been replaced by Hugo Southwell, the Edinburgh full-back.
Southwell will start the game in the No 15 shirt, with Chris Paterson moving to the wing. Southwell had been named on the bench for tomorrow’s clash at the Millennium Stadium, but Frank Hadden, the Scotland coach, has decided to promote him to the starting XV.
Simon Danielli, the Ulster winger, has been named as Southwell’s replacement among the substitutes.
Meanwhile, Mike Blair, Scotland’s scrum-half has urged supporters not to be too quick to dismiss Scotland in this season's RBS Six Nations despite their disappointing start to the tournament against France last Sunday.
"The game last week against France was the first time in a long time that the media and a lot of supporters were saying that Scotland were favourites to win, and I think we can overreact after one poor performance," said Blair.
"Training has gone well this week, and now we've got to back up what we are saying with our performance on Saturday. Hopefully we'll get a fairer reflection of where we are at the moment. We are still a good team - we've just got to put a good performance in next week."
After Saturday’s trip to Cardiff, Scotland go to Dublin in a fortnight before welcoming World Cup finalists England to Murrayfield. They then finish the campaign off in Rome against an Italian side who beat them last season.
