Simon Shaw, the British and Irish Lions lock, has received a two-week ban after being cited for dangerous play during the third Test victory over South Africa in Johannesburg, the South Africa Rugby Football Union have announced.

The England forward was found guilty of striking Fourie du Preez, the Springboks scrum half, in the back with his knee just before half-time.

Shaw received a yellow card for the offence, but he was then summoned to appear at a disciplinary hearing today.

Bakkies Botha, the South Africa lock, lost his appeal against a two-week ban on Thursday after he was cited for a dangerous charge on Adam Jones, the Lions prop, during the second Test in Pretoria a week last Saturday.

Jones has undergone surgery to repair damaged ligaments in his right shoulder and is expected to be sidelined until Christmas.
