2 for 1 at Pizza Express
The Lions were desperately unlucky, but it is also true that few of the men and women dressed in red on Saturday were particularly downcast.
Ironically, many thanks
This is the last Rolling Maul of the season, and, in answer to one of my subscribing pals, no, I won't be posting it from the Tenby internet café.
Thanks so much to everyone who subscribed and to all the torrents of people who responded, What was remarkable was the geographical spread, not to mention the sheer good sense and affection for the sport. Next season has no Lions tour and no World Cup and at first sight, looms a little dry and short of drama.
Have no fear, it will be another campaign to send us all nuts and drive us all back to rugby.
Finally, my favourite response came from New Zealand a week ago. The writer concluded: "I may be wrong, but sometimes I think you are teasing us and being ironic." Ironic? Me?
Have a great summer and Rolling Maul will be back in September.
The Stephen Jones debate
I've thoroughly enjoyed your comments and, whilst I don't always agree with them, I always find them thought provoking and often amusing. I am proud of the Lions and what they what they have achieved, few have belittled their reputation and many, especially Kearney and Shaw, have enhanced it. I was pleased for Vickery, Monye and Williams as they deserved their glory and will be the better for it. I think the result in the third Test was justice for the Lions and their management team and well deserved. Congratulations to everyone for the spirit on and off the field and wouldn't it be great if the big three in the southern hemisphere actually learned something from this and let Argentina in on the game. Malcolm Watson
SJ: I am afraid that the more time you spend in the southern hemisphere, Malcolm, the more you despair of their myopia when it comes to true help for other nations they rarely lift a finger unless there is something in it for them. And spot on with the players you nominated, and a great comeback by Vickery.
An epic game on Saturday - and the Lions did at last get their reward that they should have had earlier in the Tour. Great all round performance by the players.
On this tour it has been the Lions that have represented the great game and have been the ambassadors of world rugby - not the Springboks. The Lions have fully represented the games playing charter and especially the principle of the spirit of the game. However, this tour has highlighted some important stuff that needs to be addressed.
