Andy Murray will warm-up for the US Open at the Pilot Pen tournament after accepting a wildcard invitation to the Connecticut event.

The British No 1 is set to make his comeback at the Montreal Masters. He has been out of action since May with a wrist injury.

"I thought it would be a good idea to play another tournament before the US Open, and the Pilot Pen is the perfect opportunity," said Murray.

Murray will join Nikolay Davydenko, Tommy Robredo and James Blake in the men's singles draw which runs from August 19-25 at the Connecticut Tennis Center at Yale.

Wildcards are not usually offered by Pilot Pen but tournament director Anne Worcester was happy to make an exception for Murray, ranked 13th in the world. "We made an exception," Worcester said. "Andy Murray is a member of this elite gang of youngsters, like Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic, who are poised to take over the game."
