5.20pm: Zheng Jie makes the last four after winning the deciding set against Nicole Vaidisova, 6-1. She plays Venus Williams in the semi-finals.
4.53pm: Serena Williams crushes Radwanska 6-0 in the second set to reach the semi-finals. She will play either Zheng Jie or Nicole Vaidisova.
4.30pm: Serena Williams takes the first set in her quarter-final against Radwanska, 6-4.
3.53pm: Next up on Centre Court is Serena Williams, she takes on Agnieszka Radwanska, the Polish teenager who overcame Svetlana Kuznetsova, yesterday.
3.44pm: That's it Elena Dementieva, the No 5 seed and the
highest-seeded player left in the women's draw, has somehow held it together
and she is through to the last four after completing a 6-1, 6-7, 6-3 victory
over her compatriot Nadia Petrova on Centre Court after two hours and
32 minutes.
She missed two match points at the end of the second set and showed guts to
come back to take the final set after almost self-destructing on court. She
will play Venus Williams in the semi-final.
3.42pm: On Court One Zheng has taken the first set of her match with Nicole Vaidisova, the No 18 seed, 6-2.
3.37pm: Petrova is serving to stay in the match on Centre Court, Dementieva leads the final set 5-2.
3.33pm: On Court One, Zheng remains in control of her match with Nicole Vaidisova, the No 18 seed. The Chinese player leads the first set 4-2.
3.29pm: Just when it seems Dementieva is going to run away with this match, she gets extremely nervous. Petrova has pulled it back to 4-2.
3.18pm: On Centre Court, Dementieva has recovered well from her second set blip and leads the final set 4-0, with a double-break.
3.10pm: Vaidisova, the No 18 seed, is struggling from already, she loses her first service game and trails Zheng Jie 2-0.
3.02pm: On Court One Zheng Jie and Nicole Vaidisova, the No 18 seed, begin their warm-up.
2.56pm: Having been faced two match points, Nadia Petrova comes
through to take the second set in the tie-break 8-6. Having been 5-1 up in
this set you can only imagine what Dementieva will be thinking now.
We're into a deciding set on Centre Court.
2.48pm: Venus Williams is into the semi-finals after a 6-4, 6-3 victory
over Tamarine Tanasugarn, in an hour and 35 minutes. She limps off
the court, although tells the BBC that it is a minor hamstring problems and
she will be fine for Thursday's semi-final.
2.44pm: Dementieva just about holds it together to scramble her
way into a second set tie-break. All bets are off on the outcome of this
one.
While on Court One, Tanasugarn is serving to stay in the match,
trailing Venus Williams 5-3 in the second set.
2.35pm: Elena Dementieva, who it's fair to say has a history of failing to close out matches, is falling apart on Centre Court. Nadia Petrova, who was 5-1 down, has dragged this set back to 5-5. It's a completely different match now.
2.30pm: Venus Williams moves 4-2 ahead on Court One.
2.22pm: Very nervy stuff from Elena Dementieva, she can't hold
it together when serving for the match and Nadia Petrova might just
have found a way back into this match on Centre Court, though she still
trails 5-3.
On Court One, Venus Williams is in control, leading the second set 3-1,
with a break.
2.15pm: Dementieva is on the verge of her first Wimbledon semi-final, she leads the second set 5-1. Nadia Petrova is serving to stay in the match.
2.13pm: Venus Williams steps it up a gear at the start of the second set to break the Tanasugarn immediately. The defending champion leads 1-0, with a break, having taken the first 6-4.
2.11pm: Dementieva looks all but certain to win this match on Centre Court, she breaks again and leads the second set 4-1, having taken the first 6-1. Nadia Petrova looks all but out of this match.
2.07pm: Tanasugarn saves two set points but Venus Williams finally takes advantage of a third to take the opening set 6-4. This is a real battle for the defending champion, the first set has taken 56 minutes. Can Tanasugarn hang in there?
2.00pm: Elena Dementieva continues to dominate proceedings against Nadia Petrova on Centre Court, she leads the second set 2-0, having won the first 6-1.
1.56pm: Gutsy performance from Tanasugarn on Court One. She saves a set point and holds to force the defending champion to serve for the opening set at 5-4.
1.46pm: Really impressive from Elena Dementieva, she wins five games in a row to take the first set 6-1 in her match with Nadia Petrova. Petrova has been completely thrown by being called for a foot-fault for crossing the centre line, rather than the baseline. She has really allowed it to rattle her out there.
While on Court One, Tanasugarn is hanging in there just, but VenusWilliams leads 5-3, and the Thai player is now serving to stay in the first set.
1.40pm: Venus Williams is coming under real pressure on her serve, Tanasugarn is really getting a foothold in these service games, and despite having six break points, Williams just holds to lead 4-1 in the opening set.
On Centre Court, Elena Dementieva breaks the Petrova serve and now leads 3-1 in the first set.
1.32pm: Venus Williams is beginning to warm to her task on Court One. She breaks Tanasugarn and now leads 3-2.
On Centre Court, the brollies are out, but to provide shade rather than
shelter, and Elena Dementieva is 2-1 ahead, on serve.
1.25pm: Great stuff on Court One, Williams breaks the Tanasugarn serve,
only for the Thai to come storming back with a break of her own. It's 2-2
but Williams knows she is in for a fight.
1.15pm: A positive start from Tanasugarn who holds serve in the first game, Williams follows suit in the second and we are on serve at 1-1.
1.01pm: Here we go for what should be another action-packed day at
SW19. Venus Williams, the defending champion, steps out on to Court
One, for her match with Thailand's Tamarine Tanasugarn.
While on Centre Court, Elena Dementieva, the No 5 seed and the
highest-seeded player left in the women's draw, takes on Nadia Petrova in
an all-Russian affair.
12:10pm: Play gets underway on day eight of Wimbledon. The doubles and junior events are dominating the outside courts today, with the women's singles quarter-finals getting going from 1pm. We'll keep you updated.
8.40am: After the late drama of Andy Murray's astonishing
comeback against Richard Gasquet last night, it's over to the women
today as they bid for a place in the last four of this year's Wimbledon.
The Williams sisters once again lead the way, as they attempt to meet each
other in the final on Saturday. Venus and Serena have won six of the past
eight singles titles at SW19 and it is difficult to see anyone stopping them
continuing that run of success this year.
Venus is first on Court One at 1pm, she takes on Thailand's Tamarine Tanasugarn, who beat Jelena Jankovic yesterday, while Serena, who is second on Centre Court plays Agnieszka Radwanska, the Polish teenager who overcame Svetlana Kuznetsova, the No 4 seed, yesterday.
Elena Dementieva, the No 5 seed and the highest-seeded player left in the
draw, opens the Centre Court programme against Nadia Petrova while wildcard ZhengJie takes on Nicole Vaidisova, the No 18 seed, in the second
match on Court One.
We'll keep you updated with all the latest action from noon.
