Laura Robson remains on course to become the first Briton to win the Wimbledon girl's title since Annabel Croft in 1985, after a straight sets victory over Romana Tabakova.
A place in the final of the Wimbledon girls' singles championships was confirmed when the 14-year-old defeated the Slovakian, 6-2, 7-5 on a partisan Court Three. Robson, who has not dropped a set to this point and defeated Melanie Oudin, the No 1 seed from the United States, in the second round, now plays Noppawan Lertcheewakarn, the No 3 seed from Thailand, in tomorrow's final.
Robson took a commanding lead from the off, breaking Tabakova's serve in the second game. The Slovakian was completely outplayed from then on and struggled to cope with the ferocity of her opponent's precision from the baseline, as she took the first set 6-2.
Despite dropping her serve at the start of the second set, Robson dug deep to break back twice before eventually taking the set 7-5. Robson dropped just four points on her own serve all match.
"It's really, really good, an overwhelming experience," she said after the match. "There were so many people watching me today.
"I try not to think about it too much but it's nice in a way because it means that everybody thinks you're good, so I'll take the compliment."
"I didn't think I would get to the final at the start of the week but I've had some good results recently so it was kind of expected, just not this soon. Going for winners was what I was trying to do. Staying in the rallies wasn’t a good idea because she had a really strong backhand. Going for winners seemed to work."
Ahead of Saturday's final Robson admitted she would do her best to deal with her nerves.
"I think I will be quite nervous but I'm going to try and put that in the back of my head," she said.
