8.21pm: Jelena Jankovic of Serbia, the sixth seed, has won her second-round match 6-2, 6-4 against Czech Republic’s Iveta Benesova.
7.35pm: Brits would not be Brits if they did not raise your spirits one minute and render a punch to the midriff the next. So just to temper the joy at young Andy's serene progress, just to mention that doubles specialist Alex Bogdanovic and Mel South lost their mixed doubles encounter in straight sets.
7.30pm: Apologies for the break in coverage, but you may care to check out the Andy Murray report just to prove that we have not been slacking. We're currently watching Jelena Jankovic, the No6 seed and former mixed doubles partner of Jamie Murray. She is playing Iveta Benesova of the Czech Republic and is a break to the good in the opening set.
7.04pm: It's all over, Murray streamrollers the dangerous Gulbis with a performance, it has to be said, worthy of a champion. 6-2, 7-5, 6-3 to the Scot in one hour and 28 minutes. It really was a top drawer display, and Murray only recorded five unforced errors in the match. Please bear with our live commentary for a moment while we prepare a full report on Murray.
6.47pm: Not looking good for Gulbis as Murray unleashes a tremendous passing shot to break the Latvian once more at 2-1. There's also another rare piece of good news for the Brits as Katie O'Brien with the assistance of the wonderfully named Kenneth Skupski has seen off the challenge of Aussie pair Ashley Fisher and Abigail Spears 6-4, 6-4.
6.45pm Stanislas Wawrinka, the No 19 seed from Switzerland is striding through his match with clinical efficiency, taking the first two sets against Martin Vassallo Arguello of Argentina. More bad news for A-Bog though, as he and Mel South lose the first set 7-5.
6.35pm: Gulbis has upped his game considerably in the second set but can't prevent Murray from holding serve with ease and going two sets up in just over an hour's play. The Scot is ahead 6-2, 7-5.
6.30pm: Murray breaks once more to lead Gulbis 6-5 in the second set after the Latvian ends a lengthy rally by smashing into the net and responding with a cry of anguish. Over on Court No 2 Juan Carlos Ferrero has recovered from losing the first set by taking the next two in what is proving to be a right dong-dong battle with France's Fabrice Santoro.
6.15pm: Whilst admiring Murray's serve today, spare a thought for Wimbledon's unlucky man Alex Bogdanovic, opening his mixed doubles account with Mel South against Dutch/Thai pair Wassen and Tanasugarn. Go A-Bog!
6.05pm: Team Murray will be very pleased with the British No 1's progress, as Andy powers to take the first set 6-2 in just 25 minutes, while Nikolay Davydenko has completed a 6-4, 6-4, 6-2 win over Romanian Victor Crivoi.
5.45pm: Murray and Gulbis is going with serve but the Scot is looking refreshingly nimble about the court. Venus Williams caps a good day by seeing off the challenge of France's Virginie Razzano and Aravane Rezai with sister Serena in straight sets.
5.30pm: Andy Roddick feels there is much more to come from him, despite dispatching the tricky Igor Kunitsyn in four sets. "I feel I had him up against it in third set but didn't take my chances," A-Rod said. "I could have been a little more aggressive." Meanwhile Amelie Mauresmo has beaten Kristina Kucova 6-3 6-3.
