Attend a special evening hosted by Mike Atherton

It's a very wide topic so try and be imaginitive. Human interest and unusual aspects can often help a picture so think laterally.
The winning photograph will be published in The Times newspaper, and the weekly winners will have their picture published on the homepage of Times Online Travel each Friday until the closing date of September 30.
The monthly prize, courtesy of Canon, is an EOS 350D digital SLR camera worth £699, as well as a place on a travel photography course weekend at Kings College London (see www.wordsandpix.co.uk),
New Lonely Planet pictorial photography books go to the weekly winners.
All entries will be considered for publication, but only residents of the UK or Republic of Ireland are eligible for the prizes.
Make sure you compress the pictures to a maximum of 200kb per photo in the Jpeg format, any e-mails bigger than 1Mb will not be considered.
Also, we require images at 450 pixels wide - no narrower - in case they are required for publication online. And please retain any high resolution originals in case they are selected for publication in the newspaper.
Send your entries to travelpictures@timesonline.co.uk.
Try to make the pictures as varied as possible. Drab landscapes don't win prizes, and try to avoid pictures of your kids frolicking - though it is often good to have a human touch.
A good place to start before deciding what to submit would be by reading the articles in this section that are stuffed full of advice.
Remember to include caption text and other details - where the photograph was taken, the circumstances if appropriate and the equipment used.
