We like the product; we love the website. And so, we think will happy campers and festival goers.

The site has been launched by mountain gear specialists PHD (Peter Hutchinson Designs), and allows users to design and order sleeping bags to their personal specifications. Perhaps your sleeping bag doesn’t match your tent, outfit or surroundings, or perhaps your tootsies get cold at night – whatever your requirements there’s a bag for you.

The process starts by entering the minimum temperature that you expect to experience, then you select the correct weight of bag and the fun starts: 17 customisable options, including a choice of outer and inner fabric type and colour, snugly hood, anti-freeze collars, and various zips and bungies (to use layman’s terms).

All options come with a clear description of what it means and the website tots up the total price as you roll through the options; plus the image on the right of the website updates so you can see what you’re ordering.

My gold and berry red bag with hood, collar and various other nifty features totalled £251 – it’s pricey but it’s something to treasure, although I’m not sure I’d ever leave it in the shabby surrounds of a tent.

We love: the terminology – the “guided route” option is for newcomers to the site who might need advice along the way, or there’s the “free route” for experienced outdoorsy types, and as for trapezoid baffles… well we are; the way the site saves your design as you go and tots up the price; the image of your chosen bag showing how it will look; the clean design

We hate: the small typeface; the relatively limited colors what’s wrong with pink and floral?
